Chapter 97 Throbbing Pain

Book:My Husband Hates Me Published:2024-5-1

That night, Dorothy did not sleep well. Perhaps it was because she was not used to sleeping on a single bed.
While she was in a daze, she had a feeling that a pair of passionate eyes were staring at her, which she could not get rid of.
At first, she had thought that Ivana was watching her from outside the iron bars. However, soon, Dorothy felt that something was amiss.
It was because that gaze remained on her for a long, long time, not wavering at all.
After getting pregnant, her temper had become horrible, and she was constantly on edge.
Ever since she was confirmed to be pregnant three months ago in Palm City, her morning sickness had quietly arrived. Especially after she got sent into prison. She spent a big chunk of her time retching in the detention room.
It was not easy for her to finally fall asleep during nighttime, but when she suddenly found herself in a difficult situation, she slowly got angry, and she thought, “Who the hell is standing outside? Is that person going to let me sleep or not?”
She lost her temper and opened her eyes in an instant, “Who’s there? Are you Ivana?”
After that, in the next second, she suddenly widened her eyes. Her breathing stopped, and her heartbeat seemed to have done the same. She seemed to have been struck by lightning, frozen on the single bed.
She saw a man standing beside her bed. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants that matched his suit. He looked so handsome that Dorothy thought she was dreaming.
However, she soon realized that she was not dreaming. Credence was actually beside her. When he noticed her opening her eyes, his deep, dark gaze fell.
“Sorry, I’ve woken you up.”
He might be trying to apologize, but there was not a hint of apology on his calm face.
Dorothy could not help but think of the time when she had lived in the guest room of the villa. It had also been late back then, but the scenario was similar, as was the conversation. He had also been bullying her in the same way.
Dorothy slowly sat up from the bed with her elbows. She sneered with a cold expression. “Credence, since you know you would wake me up, why are you still here to disturb me?”
Was he doing it on purpose?
Did he think she was still as silly as before, and that she would choose to forgive him no matter how much he had hurt her?
Her face was so tense that it held no expression. Her words were harsh and filled with sarcasm, her tone colder than before. She had never been so resolute before.
It was as if he was not the man she loved deeply anymore. Instead, he was a stranger that she was completely unfamiliar with.
Credence could not explain what he was feeling. He felt increasingly depressed. His eyes were deep and bloodshot red. He drooped his eyes and frowned. Suppressing his anxiety, he remained silent for a moment.
He looked at Dorothy silently and attentively. A faint tenderness was buried in the depths of his eyes.
Could he tell her that he had come to see her just because he wanted to?
Even if he said so, she might not believe him.
At that moment, for the first time, Credence regretted his actions toward Dorothy and how he had looked down on her in the past.
After pausing for a while, he shook the bag of food in his hand in front of Dorothy and said lightly, “I happened to pass by the police station after work. I haven’t had dinner yet, so eat with me.”
His face seemed calm and indifferent, but it was an order that could not be refused.
When Dorothy heard his words, it was as if she had misheard him. She gently shook her head and refused firmly.
“Sorry, I am just a murderer who has failed. I am not qualified to have dinner with you.”
How ridiculous!
When he needed her, she had to obey to his whims unconditionally. However, when she needed him, where was he instead?
He would summon her as he pleased, so what the hell did he think she was?
“Do you detest me?”
Credence stared at Dorothy. He was tired. He seemed to be smiling, but his smile was so cold that it was shocking.
He placed the two bags of food on the table and took two more steps forward. He was now less than ten centimeters away from her. He stared at her coldly and said, “You don’t like me and you don’t love me either. Why? Is it because of Juelz?!”
She shouted, “What does this have to do with Juelz?!”
Dorothy roared angrily, “Credence, why did I stop liking you? Why did I change from loving you to hating you? Why do I hate you? Don’t you know why yourself?”
He hooked Dorothy’s chin with his long and cold fingers, bent over, and breathed on her face. He looked at her red eyes unwaveringly with his calm ones, “Because your sister, Rosalie, hates me? Truth be told, she has never been a problem.”
Rosalie’s clear eyes had seemed to hold panic in them, just like the pair of eyes he had seen a few years back. That was why he occasionally tolerated her.
However, she was a woman who had never aroused him. He had never had a reaction because of her. How could she make him pay attention to her?
“Credence, don’t you feel guilty when you say that Rosalie is not a problem?”
Dorothy couldn’t help but laugh coldly, “You tried to kill me for Rosalie’s sake, multiple times. If it weren’t for my good luck, I would have died ten times over because of her. Now, you’re actually saying that she’s not a problem. Don’t you think that’s ridiculous? Do you really think that I’m the reason the two of us are in the situation that we are in right now?”
“That day in the operating theatre had Germaine not secretly swapped me out for a dead corpse, I was almost certainly going to die on the operating table… Credence, tell me, if I were to die, you, as the person who had personally pushed me into the operating theatre, would you be take the responsibility? Would you face the law for that?”
Dorothy smiled at him coldly as tears welled up in her eyes.
On her cold face, he could see her resentment towards him, her hatred for him, and her cruelness towards him. However, there was no love for him anymore.
Credence felt a deep frustration rise in his heart. He narrowed his eyes, and his handsome and charming face seemed to appear devastated for a moment.
The pain in his stomach got more and more intense. No matter how strong his will was, he still could not help but grunt from the pain. He withdrew his hand from Dorothy’s chin and pressed his painful stomach. Then, he asked in a hoarse voice, “Can you eat with me first?”
Watching his face turn pale due to uncomfortableness, Dorothy realized that his gastric problems must be back again.
Although she hated him for being so heartless toward her, she still could not watch him suffer in front of her. She gently nodded, but said nothing more.
In truth, the two of them were completely different. He was heaven’s favored son, the richest and wealthiest man in Talco City. Meanwhile, she was just a prisoner in the police station. There was a huge difference between their two identities. She did not know what to say to Credence anymore.
She watched as Credence actually sat beside her. He slowly opened the fast food container and picked his cutleries up. He started to eat his food. Suddenly, she smelled the steamed fish, and Dorothy could no longer control her stomach that had been flipping over. She suddenly threw up.
The sour scent wafted down her throat and into her nose. Her stomach was once again in turmoil…
“Ugh!” she puked.
Dorothy endured the uncomfortable feeling and got up from the bed. She put on her shoes and staggered into the bathroom.
As she leaned over the toilet bowl and vomited, his cold sneer entered her ears sharply.
He said, “Dorothy, so you and Juelz really are in a secret relationship. How good, how very good indeed!”
Each word was like a sharp blade, stabbing Dorothy’s heart fiercely.
She laid there in a daze and raised her head. Tears streamed down her face as she looked at him and allowed him to laugh, allowing her heart to be torn apart.
