Chapter 96 The Bad Nature of Men

Juelz was making a fuss in the conference room, so Ivana called Benjamin.
As Credence’s personal assistant, Benjamin had to answer all of his calls first before reporting them to him.
During that night, Credence hid himself in his office. He did not allow anyone to enter.
Benjamin held his phone tightly. One side of the corridor was a French window. The night was getting darker and darker, and it was almost half past ten. Credence still did not have the appetite to have dinner, which made Benjamin even more worried.
Benjamin walked forward. He was about to reach out and knock on the office door, but right at that moment, the door was pushed open from inside.
“Mr. Scott…” Benjamin responded instinctively. He immediately reported, “Ivana just called. It’s about Madam.”
“What about her?”
Credence’s voice was a little hoarse, and he pressed his temples with his long fingers. He seemed tired. When the crystal lights shone on his tired face, it made his facial features look sharper.
After pulling some strings, Dorothy had not been sent to a bad prison with a difficult environment. Instead, she was placed in a single detention room. Everyone involved in her case were subordinates of his good friend Mr. Worley. Due to that, she should be perfectly safe.
Benjamin looked at him uneasily and said, “Mr. Scott, nothing has happened to Madam. It’s just that Juelz went to visit her. He even gave Ivana lots of unreasonable requests. He wants her to clean the detention room twice a day, give her a bouquet of cherry blossoms every day, and buy her a branded bed and sheets that she’s used to, as well as a refrigerator and an air conditioner and so on…”
At that point, Benjamin paused for a while. He secretly glanced at his boss. He saw the calm expression on Credence’s face, but could not read his emotions. Benjamin silently gulped and said nervously, “Mr. Scott, I had wanted to make such arrangements for Madam too, but she has just entered that place, so it would be better for her to keep a low profile. I did not expect Juelz to take the initiative to do so.”
The impression that Mrs. Scott had of Mr. Scott must have morphed into a b*stard, thanks to Juelz’ words!
“Is that so? I understand.”
Credence’s expressions and tone made Benjamin somewhat confused. He could not help but speak in a low voice, “You are constantly helping her in the dark, yet you never tell her about it. She will never understand your good intentions.”
The only reply Benjamin got was the sound of a lighter and a wisp of white smoke rising from a cigarette.
His face was handsome and charming, looking as cold as frost. He frowned and continued to smoke, yet remained silent.
Benjamin continued to ask, “Th-then, when can we get her out of jail?”
After smoking a cigarette, Credence’s voice was low and gentle. His words crashed into the deepest parts of Benjamin’s heart.
“You don’t understand. She is safer inside.”
At least, before he learned the origin of the Mosemary drug, it would be much safer for Dorothy to stay in the police station.
Suddenly, Benjamin did not know what else he could say. He handed over the box of fast food in his hands, “You have gastric problems. You should eat some food.”
“Leave it here for now.”
After smoking the cigarette in his hand, he casually threw the cigarette butt into the trash can. Then, he turned around and walked into the office with a frosty air around him.
If the Mosemary drug could only be found in Jenciga, then the scope of investigation was extremely small.
At least, with his current social connections, he could not intervene for the time being.
The frustrated Credence smoked another cigarette in the spacious office. He took his phone out and called Marvin for around ten minutes. When he knew that Marvin had made no progress, he hung up on the phone, leaned against the back of his black chair, and slowly closed his eyes.
Dorothy had hurt Rosalie in public. Not only was the Fisher family involved in this, but there should also be a hidden mastermind as well.
However, after a few days, Credence still had not made any progress. His heart was in sharp pain as days without progress continued.
If that proud and stubborn woman knew that he was not actually omnipotent, and that there was something in this world that he could not do, would she continue to love him stupidly, unconditionally?
It wasn’t until he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen that Credence snapped back to reality. He opened the box of fast food on his desk and looked at the food that appeared far from the food Dory personally cooked. He had no appetite at all.
Clang!
Credence frowned and threw the food into the trash can. He suddenly stood up, picked up the car keys, and strode out.
They had been married for four years, but he had almost never gone home to eat with Dorothy.
However, the strange thing was that whenever she was by his side, he would have a much better appetite.

Before dawn, a black Maybach was parked at the gates of the Talco City police station.
Credence got out of the car with two bags of steaming food in his hands. He walked inside immediately.
Upon hearing of Credence’s arrival, Mr. Yadriel came to greet him. As Credence’s university classmate, when he saw Credence’s tired yet strong look, as well as the white plastic bag in his hand that did not match his status, he could not help but ask, “Mr. Scott, you woke me up from my dream in the middle of the night just to give your lover a midnight snack?”
“I am not here to send her supper.”
Credence shook his head. The cigarette between his fingers was already halfway gone. After it finished, he stood up and knocked on the office table with his white and slender fingers. He said blandly, “I can only eat with her by my side.”
What the hell?! What a d*mned liar! Would he die if he told the truth?
Yadriel understood this man and his personality. He would not budge no matter what, so Yadriel did not point the obvious out. He sighed and said, “Mr. Scott, you can go in. I will give you two hours. Also, during these two hours, the surveillance cameras will be turned off. You can do whatever you want after your meal.”
Upon hearing this, Credence pursed his lips, but did not open his mouth. He withdrew his distant and cold gaze from Yadriel and slowly turned around and walked over to her room.
As of now, apart from Rosalie and her foster parents, the only other person who Dorothy hated the most was him.
It would be nice to have a meal with her in peace. He could forget about everything else for the time being.
After ten minutes, Credence was standing less than two meters away from the cell that Dorothy was locked up in. He looked over at her silently, without any trace of emotions on his face.
That stubborn woman laid on her bed with her hands folded over her abdomen as a protective gesture. She seemed to be sleeping not very soundly. Her small face was pale, and her beautiful eyebrows were furrowed tightly.
They were several meters apart, but he seemed to be able to smell her faint fragrance, feel the perfect temperature of her skin, as well as hear her calm breathing.
His eyes stung, and Credence slowly shut his eyes. When he opened them again, he stared at the sleeping Dorothy for a while.
The longer the time he lost her, the more he understood her importance.
Men had a bad nature-whenever they had something, they would not know how to cherish it. They would only know how precious it was after losing it.
Hopefully, it was not too late for him to come to his senses.
Ivana, who had brought Credence over, silently watched as Credence stared at her for an hour. When there was finally a slight movement of his body, she asked in a low voice, “Mr. Scott, don’t you want to go in?”
