Mia’s pov
If my heart hadn’t been beating fast before, then now it’s threatening to fly past my lips at any given moment. I blinked slowly while I tried to stop my heart from racing. I slowly pushed myself to my feet while my mouth remained parted in shock.
The men who had held me hostage still continued to snicker amongst themselves as Lorenzo alighted the motorbike and placed his helmet on it before turning around and leveling the guys with a blank gaze.
The lights in this part of the almost empty street was very little, but it still managed to illuminate Lorenzo’s face. I felt a shudder run down my spine at once as soon as his gaze landed on my face.
He stared at me for a few moments and I swallowed emptily, feeling extremely unnerved in his presence right now.
I couldn’t believe the person I had ran away from is the person who had shown up for me right now. Although his plans was to kill me, it still made me feel unnerved that he actually showed up.
I averted my gaze from his after a few more minutes when it almost felt like he could see my inner thoughts the more he kept on staring at me. His face gave nothing away as usual, which made it impossible for me to figure out what’s currently going through his mind.
When he focused on the bunch of five guys once again, my eyes trailed over what he currently had on. It was a pair of dark pants, dark boots and a dark leather jacket. Everything about him screamed danger right now and for a moment, I felt pity for these bunch of guys who had asked him to show up, because it’s obvious that they don’t know how dangerous Lorenzo actually is.
“What do you want?” Lorenzo asked in a tone that sounded very uninterested. It’s the first thing he let out since he arrived here and those words made me flinch a little while pointedly staring down at my feet.
“We’ve got your girl.” One of the guys gruffed out and I almost facepalmed myself over how these people genuinely still think I’m actually Lorenzo’s girl.
Lorenzo glanced at me for a moment and I hastily avyeted my gaze as soon as our eyes locked, chosing to stare down at my fingers.
“Yes, I can see that.” When he finally responded, I felt my mouth get dried up at once. I wanted to glance up at him right now but forced myself not to, because I wasn’t sure I’d like to see the look on his face right now. Something that definitely hurt bloomed in my heart at that very moment, because despite him saying that, he had literally decided on killing me today had I not run away.
“So, aren’t you going to say anything?” Another one shot out, and out of curiosity, I glanced up at the scene unfolding before me right now.
The side of Lorenzo’s lips pulled up in a dark grin that made the knot in my stomach twist up even more as he responded.
“I’m not going to.”
“What are you going to do then?” The one who had previously spoken, shot out in exasperation.
“I’m going to be taking her home with me tonight.” He informed them calmly and if I didn’t know better, I’d have let myself believe that this isn’t a mere font right now, and in no way proving that he cared for me in any way.
“You can’t do that.” One of the guys declared.
“I can, and I will.” Lorenzo offered with a careless shrug, and then a fleeting moment later, before I could even begin to dwell on Lorenzo’s recent response, the five guys all spread out a little before falling into different poses.
“You’re going to have to go through us then.” They declared. My heart flew into my throat at once and I nervously fretted over the fact that this is five guys against just one person, but as soon as that feeling engulfed me, so did it ebb away as soon as I remembered that this one guy whom these five guys were against, was the Lorenzo.
“We knew you were definitely going to show up as soon as you discovered we had your girl.” One of them pointed out as they circled Lorenzo.
“Of course I had to. If any of you had hurt her, prepare to meet your ancestors tonight.” Lorenzo responded easily as he delivered a blow to the first guy who attacked him and at once, so many thoughts ran through my mind in that moment.
Next, I watched as all of them attacked Lorenzo at once, from different angles, but Lorenzo easily defeated them. He moved at a really fast speed that made me feel dizzy at a point. There were no weapons involved, and it made me realize just why he was feared so much. Lorenzo moves were so smooth and collected, it was so obvious he has multiple black belts. He defeated each attack easily and barely collected any hits. My anxiety is definitely roof high at this point and I kept hoping nothing would end up happening to Lorenzo while ignoring the part of my brain that kept calling me a fool.
As the fight continued, it was almost comical how five guys didn’t stand any chance with Lorenzo. Although, amongst the five guys, there was one whose strength was a match for Lorenzo’s. He barely felt like the rest of the guys, and I instantly figured out that he was definitely their leader.
Lorenzo had his foot atop one of the guy’s throats, ready to deliver a hit which would dislocate the muscles there at once, but a voice which suddenly broke through the sounds of grunts and hits, stopped him from doing that.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on a second, man.” One of the dudes who sounded winded, breathed out and I felt myself staring at him curiously, while Lorenzo looked like he was going to dislodge the throat beneath his foot any moment from now.
“It’s us, man.” The guy whom I felt was the leader pointed out this time, on an amused chuckle– barely sounded as winded as the rest of the guys, and then he proceeded to pull off his face mask.
I glanced at Lorenzo, whose eyes were filled with surprise at once as he slowly removed his leg from the throat that was previously pinned beneath it, hand loosening from the shirt he was gripping, moments ago.
And then he called out in a tone filled so much like disbelief.
“Marcus?”
