Mia’s pov
My heart was beating so erratically that it felt like I was about to puke from all the fright running through every inch of my body at once. I glanced around once again and breathed out a choppy, shaky gasp on realizing that I was indeed stuck between these men, which in order words, means that I was completely doomed for.
I couldn’t believe my sheer luck, but I knew damn well that I really shouldn’t be shocked right now, knowing fully well that I’ve never really had a good luck in literally everything thst has to do with my life.
Of course I didn’t end up getting caught by Lorenzo. Instead, I had to walk straight into the hands of some bad guys.
I wasn’t sure which is worse for me right now. Dying by Lorenzo’s hands or by these guys’ hands.
They were still all surrounding me and when I threw another frantic glance around, one of them let out a chuckle that sounded muffled as closed the distance between us.
“You have no excspe point, you’ve walked right in here, so don’t bother trying to have any sort of hope or funny thoughts, hm?” As he spoke, the other guys closed in as well, making me feel extremely suffocated. Tears were streaming down my face as I kept glancing from one masked face to another, while still trying to figure out if this was happening right now or if it was a terrible nightmare.
When one of them reached out and grasped my bicep, a cry tore out of mt mouth, confirming to me that this was definitely not a dream and is actually happening right now.
“Please let me go, p- please.” I cried as I got tugged along with the guys who all laughed through their masks as they led me to the partway that liked like an abandoned uncompleted building.
“Quit crying cause that’s not gonna change shit right now.” One of the guys pointed out and I flinched while staring at them all through the tears that filled my eyes.
They guys stared at me for about a minute before glancing at each other and then walking away a few feet away from me to mumble quietly between themselves, while I once again contemplated running away now that they weren’t looking, but I was quick to discard that thought cause I knew they were five and I was the only one here, which means I stand no chance against them and that it’s going to be dumb of me to do something like that, which is definitely going to make them livid.
When they all returned to the part where I was still frozen against, it felt like I was being weighted like a piece of meat in the market and I wished there was a way I could actually kill them all right now.
But, I knew that was nothing but a wistful thought.
“Now, let’s get to the interesting part.” The one in the middle finally spoke while rubbing his palms together. My stomach which was already filled with worked up knots from the moment I got cornered by them, tightened even more, prompting a shot of pain straight to the middle of my chest.
“Please don’t hurt me.” I whispered frantically, hands wrapped around myself like that was enough to protect myself from them should they all reach out at once to grab me.
“That’s for us to decide.” The one in the middle responded and i flinched when the rest of them guffawed out a laugh.
“That actually depends more on if you do what you’re asked to. If you don’t play along properly, then you’d definitely get hurt.” Another one spoke up this time and swallowed down a lump that had build in my throat.
“Now, hand over that bag.” One of them demanded and I scrambled to do just that, while silently praying that they’re thieves who are interested in what I have on me and nothing more.
As they ruminated through the bag, they fished out the black card which I had almost forgotten about and passed it around themselves while nodding their heads.
“I told you it was her.” One of them deadpanned and my heart dropped into my stomach.
“Yeah, I had my doubts but it’s indeed her.” The one holding the card now stated in an amused tone, and then he held the card up in my eye level.
“You got this from Lorenzo, did you not?” He asked and the breath in my throat stuttered while my brain scrambled to wonder if these people knew Lorenzo from the looks of things.
“I –”
“Don’t even think of lying because it won’t end well.” He warned and I swallowed loudly, hands trembling by my sides.
“He gave it to me t- this morning cause I- I asked to go to the m- mall.” I whispered while the fear in me multiplied even more.
“Hm, as expected. And what were you doing around here all alone?” He continued and for a moment, I wondered if these were a part of Lorenzo’s men.
“I…” I began, not knowing how to actually word my words.
“That’s actually none of our business. We’re here to get Lorenzo after all, and you pretty little thing, is the most perfect bait we need to do just that.” The one still wielding the black care declared and my mouth fell open in shock.
Bait?
Me? As bait?
“Bait?” I hadn’t realized I said that loud until one of the guys responded. “Yes, as bait. You’re going to call him and tell him you’ve been captured, then he’s going to come over here and walk right into this trap.
“But- but, he wouldn’t come.” I whispered at once as I felt my heartbeat accelerate even more. Lorenzo is definitely furious at me ruining his plans by running away, and is sure to not even care that I’ve been kidnapped. Perhaps as punishment, he’d leave me to get killed by these people instead of by his hands.
