Mia’s pov
The relief that flooded me at Lorenzo’s was intense and I instantly tried not to make it obvious on my face.
I had begun to feel hungry and the strength which I had used to clean the mess I made in the kitchen had made me drain the little energy I had.
I had thought he was going to make me starve for the entire day especially after he seemed to have been extremely angry at me while we had been in the kitchen, but I guess one thing Lorenzo really likes, was to do the unexpected.
And this right here, is why it’s extremely hard for me to fire him out. There was no way I’d be able to do that if his personally keeps changing at different intervals.
“Oh.” I finally mumbled and then I glanced around for a few moments before slowly nodding my head. Lorenzo was still regarding me pointedly and the look in his eyes made me squirm a little, right before he rolled his eyes in what I’d term as irritation.
“You’re still yet to get some damn shoes on.” He pointed out and I jumped a little before hastily rushing to get them on, while listening to Lorenzo tsk from the other side of the room.
“You really are something.” I heard him murmur as I got the shoes on, but I chose not to comment since I wasn’t sure of what he meant or what I could use in responding to that.
Once I was done, I inched towards him and paused a few feet away from him, expecting him to get the door open and leave first since he was standing in the doorway, but he pulled the door open and motioned for me to step out with a small tilt of his head.
I blinked up at him a little and lightly bit on my lower lip as I stepped out of the bedroom, ignoring the intense focus of his eyes which I was sure was still watching me closely.
“Don’t just stand there, keep going.” He called out from being me and I stuck him a glance to catch him watching me with an exasperated look on, and so I swallowed the lump that had gathered in my throat as I began to climb down the stairs.
I wasn’t stupid.
The fact that Lorenzo has chosen to walk behind me only meant one thing.
He’s definitely checking me out.
That thought was enough to make color rush into my cheeks, leaving my body bursting with heat.
On stepping out of the house, a car which I hadn’t seen before was already running, right in front of the duplex. Lorenzo slid into his side of the car without sparing me a glance and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
I guess we were back to him doing the unexpected once again:
He had held my bedroom door open for me minutes ago, and I might have assumed that he was going to do the same thing for his car:
I had obviously thought wrong.
As I pulled the door open and slid into the seat, I pulled the seat belt on before he could begin to snap about it.
“You should feel extremely thankful that I’m doing this. I’d have left you to starve throughout the whole of today, perhaps that would serve as a reminder for you to pay more attention to the breakfast you’d also be making tomorrow morning.” He began to speak as he started the car and drove out of the compound into the busy road.
I was tempted to ask him what made him change his dumb mind but I refrained from doing that because I wasn’t ready for him to stop the car in the middle of the road and do something unpredictable to me.
He fell silent after that and I glanced outside the car’s window, watching as the buildings and cars kept whooshing past the car. The car smelled extremely nice, it smelled so much of Lorenzo, and I hated that I liked how he smelled.
A bastard like him wasn’t ever supposed to smell that good.
I slowly glanced at him, taming in the clench of his jaw and the focus on his face as he controlled the steering wheel, while on his phone with his other hand. He was driving extremely fast for one hand and I silently hoped that he’d not let us get into an accident.
His phone rang moments later and I knew it wasn’t going to be a good call when he chuckled darkly after accepting the car, a chuckle that sounded so dark, it held so much promise of darkness underneath it.
The person on the other side of the phone stuttered in fear, tripping over his words and I shuddered a little in fright at how much power he had over people without even having to be with them in person.
With a small sigh, I glanced outside the window and pointedly tuned him out, allowing my eyes to fall close.
I wasn’t sure of how much time passed but the next thing I knew was him shaking me awake.
“Why the fuck are you falling asleep? It’s only a few minutes ride.” He snapped as he stepped out of the car. I blinked the sleep out of my eyes and unbuckled my seatbelt before stepping out.
“That’s because I’m tired! You made me do so much work this morning.” I mumbled as I closed the distance between us, but Lorenzo only rolled his eyes.
“Shut up, Mia.” He murmured and then he headed into the restaurant, not checking to confirm if I was tralilimg in after him.
For a moment, I considered attempting to run away but I was quick to kill the thought as soon as I remembered what had happened the last time I attempted doing that, and also because I didn’t want to rile him up more than I’ve already done today.
At the table, Lorenzo regarded me with disappointment on his face.
“You seriously didn’t attempt to run away?”
I blinked at him in confusion, wondering what he was getting at once again.
“You’re such a pussy.” He continued on a scoff with a shake of his head, motioning a waiter over, and then he ordered for the both of us, not asking me for my preference or whatnot.
He did get all of my preferences right though.
As we ate, he continued to stare at me throughout, leaving me feeling extremely unnerved and making it almost impossible for me to concentrate on my food.
