Mia’s POV
I tried to collect my breath every now and then.
Every conversation I seem to have with this man was indeed a roller coaster, every encounter with him felt like I was a tightrope walker that was balancing ceramic plates on both of my hands, because honestly while he was so handsome which I couldn’t deny each time I saw him, there was this dangerous side to him that he never fail to show me each time.
I ran over to my wardrobe, the abrupt order he had given me right before he had exited the bedroom was still echoing around in my head.
Why would he want to take me with him? And, where to?
I picked any type of clothing that my hands could grab first leaving me in a baggy top and jean skirt with sneakers. He didn’t give me a theme, and since I was not going to a fashion show, and it was already night time, I ran out the bedroom like this, not even bothering to touch up my hair which I just swept up into a big messy bun.
As I made my way out of the bedroom, I wondered why I was even so conscious about my appearance in the first place, cause I was acting like a girl that was going on her first date with a potential boyfriend, when it was just my kidnapper that was trying to drag me to who knows where.
When I found him at the end of the stairs, he was looking intensely at his phone. He appeared even more handsome than I remembered him being a few minutes ago, and it’s insane how he’s already fully dressed in such a short amount of time.
Slowly, his focused blue eyes shifted and his facial features seemed to sculpt even more as his deep frown developed into a smirk, a smirk of satisfaction that immediately widened the moment he saw me.
Smiles were supposed to be warmer and give people bubbly feelings inside, but when this man looked at me with his bow-shaped pink lips curving up like that, I felt like I had to worry for my life again.
“What are you doing standing there all night?”
His harsh tone brought me back to reality and immediately started running towards him even though I was measuring my steps as if I was walking on glass. This somewhat slow but hurried-looking pace continued even as we were going down the stairs and when we finally got to the bottom he grunted out in utter frustration.
“Gosh, you are so slow!” He grunted and I winced. It wasn’t my fault that I was way shorter than he was, but I wouldn’t dare tell him that.
He grabbed me by the wrist before I could utter a word and began to tug me along with him. I instantly felt my feet moving quicker to keep up with him. My heart was sitting in my throat and pounding harshly, his touch on my cool skin had sent thousands of shivers down my spine, and for a moment made my feet a bit wobbly.
Finally, we got to the car and then he left me at the other side of the front seat then went over to the driver seat. I tried getting the door open to no avail and he was quick to notice that I was just standing there in front of the door of the extremely expensive looking car.
It was nighttime and the car was all black so it was hard to figure out what kind of car it was, but I could tell that it could easily buy all the cars that my father had and still have some change.
When he noticed that I was still lagging behind he did not hesitate to show his irritation at my sluggishness.
“Are you always this slow or are you just trying to annoy me as much as possible tonight?”
I immediately shook my head and then tried to show him that I was struggling with opening the car.
“Is there a chance that…the door is still locked?” I said to him, dragging out each word and carefully analyzing it so that he won’t pick an offense from my question.
He seems to be doing a lot of that, no matter what it is that I do.
He didn’t say another thing and quietly slipped into the car, clicking a button inside of it, and by that time I tried to get the door opened again, it worked.
He didn’t make any comment after that and just drove out of his compound, everything felt almost pitch-black to me but he was navigating the road as if it was still daytime.
“You can nap for a while,” He said to me in a very formal voice and I glanced at him cautiously as I mumbled.
“Really?” I was beginning to wonder if maybe I misjudged a bit and he wasn’t as cruel as he seemed.
However, he was quick to bring me back to reality when he told me that the only reason why he wanted me to get some shut-eye was so that I would not be staggering around in half slumber by the time we reached our destination.
“Oh, thank you…”
I said awkwardly and then he just tightened his grip on the wheels.
“I am not doing it for you so there is no need for you to thank me.” He snapped and I gulped emptily.
This man was something else, I’ll have to say.
As I was sweeping my finger slightly against the seat belt, I turned away from him and said in a voice that imitated muttering but was obviously loud and clear enough for him to hear.
“I know that but I just wanted you to know anyways,”
Maybe he heard me, maybe he didn’t, but considering that this man’s senses were so sharp that he was practically doing the equivalent of somebody driving with their eyes closed while using the expertise of somebody that was driving in broad daylight I’m sure that he probably heard me even though there was no reaction to my words.
At this point, I didn’t have any other choice than to take life as it came. So I placed my head back on the headrest and sighed myself to sleep.
