Natasha was a bit confused, she stood and asked Naomi, “Naomi, what’s the matter?” Naomi just continued sobbing.
“I’ll have one of my men take her home.” Dmitry said and made the call. Soon, Naomi was taken to Natasha’s apartment, leaving Natasha, Dmitry and the two kids in the Pushkin’s living room.
“What happened to Naomi?” Natasha became very curious.
“I believe she’ll tell you when she’s better,” Dmitry said. Natasha began to think about all sorts of wild things that could have happened to Naomi over there at Crying Sun.
“The kids and Naomi were released based on the condition that I’ll grant Pavel a request, no matter what it is as long as it’s not about you,” Dmitry started.
“What’s he requesting for?” Natasha questioned.
Dmitry stood and went to the kids then he carried the boy child in his hand, staring at him with hope. He never foresees being a father and, he’s never even interested in marriage talkless of being a father. But carrying the baby in his hand made him feel hopeful again. Made him begin to see that there’s a glimpse of light and happiness in this world. For his past had been gruesome and painful.
He dropped the boy child and carried the girl child too. Then he asked Natasha, “have you given the kids names yet?”
“Not yet. They aren’t grown up enough to answer their names, yet plus I’m yet to register the babies. It’s because I’m yet to decide what surname to give them.”
“I’ll give my kids names,” Dmitry said. He looked at the cute eyes of his daughter and said, “You shall be called Rose. For you are like a beautiful fragrant flower. You will bloom anew every year, my delicate flower.” He kissed her on the forehead gently and handed her over to Natasha.
Natasha also liked that name, Rose, it fits her perfectly.
Dmitry carried the boy child and said, “you, my son, my blood, my very first heir… you shall be called Marcus, for you shall be full of wisdom and grace.” Then he placed her down gently.
Dmitry then sighed, “for your sake and that of the kids, I’ll be going to Crying Sun, to Jucef’s estate.”
“What! Why? It’s too dangerous.”
“Well, that is Pavel’s request. He wants me to come unharmed. I’m not sure if I’ll make it back,” Dmitry said.
“No…” Natasha placed Rose carefully beside Marcus and added, “Those guys may hurt you, they may even kill you. These guys are heartless monsters. I don’t even know what they did to Naomi yet.”
“I’m a man of my word. I promise Pavel I’ll see to his request should he return my son,” Dmitry said.
“Please don’t go. You can say, No. You are the most powerful man in the city. There’s nothing you will do if you refuse his request.” Natasha said with tears all over her face.
Judging from Dmitry’s expression, she could tell he wouldn’t change his mind so she hugged him, “this is too much sacrifice for the kids.”
He placed his hand around her back and said, “not just for the kids.” Took a while before he said the next words, “for you as well.”
Natasha sobbed on his shoulder.
After a while, she pulled back, “I think the both of us will make a good couple. Why don’t you marry me and let’s live a happy life with our kids?” Natasha couldn’t believe she’s the one asking Dmitry out but does that even matter? She will have to remarry at some point and who is more befitting to get married to than the father of her babies.
She had always had a crush on him anyways. But she also knew Dmitry hates the idea of marriage, just like he loathes women.
For the first time, she saw Dmitry’s upper lips curl up into a faint smile, his cute eyes boring into her. He didn’t make her feel embarrassed for asking him out, instead, he looked like one considering it.
Thoughtfully, Dmitry spoke, “when I’m back, we’ll talk about it.”
She quickly spoke, “I don’t want the kids growing up without a father, you have to be there for them. So are you promising you will come back for us.”
“I can’t die just like that. Pavel and his father would be destroyed to nothing if the news gets out. Whatever their plan is, I’ll be smart and careful,” Dmitry said.
Since Natasha was so close to him, she didn’t know when her eyes darted to his lips, wondering how kissing him would feel like. He placed his hand under her chin and pulled her closer slightly, unexpectedly, both of their lips locked up. The two adults began to engage in the most passionate kiss. Devouring each other’s lips with lust and passion, as though they will never have enough of it.
They disengaged slowly after a long period of time, both of them, staring into each other’s eyes, “you can stay here if you want until I’m back.”
“Okay, can I tell Naomi to come over to?”
“Yes.” Dmitry said. He could feel his heart opening, for a long time, he had closed his heart to everything. That kiss… opened up so many things on the inside of him. Natasha will be his woman, and that’s final! When’s back, he’ll announce that not only will she continue to be under his protection, she now belongs to him. She’s his. Call it girlfriend, wife, as far as he’s concerned, Natasha and all that entails her belongs to him.
Soon, Dmitry left for Crying Sun.
Two days later, after not hearing from Dmitry, Natasha had to search for Yuri but Yuri was also nowhere to be found. Naomi, her kid’s nanny as well as her friend is suffering from an internal bleeding , that’s a by product of how she was ruthlessly raped.
She had been in the hospital trying to survive and she too had been trying all the traditional methods to cure her but Naomi’s situation just kept getting worse. Natasha finds herself in the midst of chaos. By the third day, the head of security dropped a note behind and when Natasha read the note, she realized that the head of security and all his men were leaving the house and won’t be back anytime soon.
She didn’t know what was going on. The entire Pushkin’s mansion that’s always busy with maids, cleaners and security guards was now empty. The only souls there were present were Natasha and the kids, as well as Dmitry’s sick mother.
Sleeping alone that night was scary but sleeping alone the night of the fourth day that Dmitry departed was even more scary. She needed to do something fast!
So she went to the Woza group of companies to see other top executives but they all kept saying they had not seen Yuri around, which is strange.
When Natasha got home, she decided to call the number that Pavel used in calling her. After the first ring, the call got answered, “Sweetheart.” Came Pavel’s voice.
“Where’s Dmitry?” Asked Natasha.
“Did you not know yet?”
“That?” Natasha asked with a beating heart.
“I’m so sorry, Natasha but my father has a high temper, he killed Dmitry.” Natasha felt her heart sink at these words. Can’t be true! Dmitry can’t be killed just like that?
“I refuse to believe that,” Natasha said.
“That’s your choice, babygirl, “Pavel said. “Natasha, it’s all over now. There’s nowhere to run to, nobody to protect you. Did you not see that we are made for each other? Both of us will make the perfect couple.”
“I’ll never marry you and I will never believe Dmitry is dead unless I see his dead body,” Natasha said.
“Your choice. I’m coming to pick you up tonight, my dear. I’ll soon get into the flight coming over to your place. Please don’t make it harder for me, I don’t want you to start running away like a little kitten, it will be too stressful to start searching for you,” Pavel said. “And I’m afraid I may act like a beast when I eventually find you so please wait for me, okay? That’s my girl.” Then the call came to an end.
Natasha’s heart began to pound, she immediately went inside and put a few clothes inside the luggage, mostly baby clothes, she added a few diapers and pads to the luggage as well. She zipped up the luggage and dragged it to the living room then carried Rose on her back and tied her with a shawl, then she carried Marcus on her left arm while her right arm held the handle of the traveling box.
Natasha wanted to walk out of the house and start looking for a taxi but then she thought, Dmitry had more than twelve cars here, why can’t she just use one? If he’s alive and hears about it, he will understand she used it to survive.
So she walked towards a truck looking vehicle, it’s that type of car that’s designed to work in desserts. She placed Rose and Marcus at the backseat while she placed her luggage at the backseat. There are always keys at the upper part of the driver’s view in the car so she just picked the key, started the ignition of the car and drove out. All these while, her heart continued to pound. Who would have known that the simple looking Pavel she helped heal from a terrible cough will pay her back by being a torn in her flesh.
She will find a way to drop a message for Naomi after finding a safe place to escape. Using the Google map, she began to navigate her way towards the West Coast of her continent. The cities to the West were separated by a wide range of woods. From what she could see on the map, once she enters the woods, she will have to cover 100 kilometers before she gets to another city. Will the fuel in the car even last a hundred kilometers?
Considering the fact that the road isn’t smooth, she may not get there today. Yet she had two babies she must protect.
As soon as she entered the wood, her phone rang and seeing that it was Pavel, she refused to answer it. When his call came through again, she immediately ended it and blocked his line.
Then she thought, what if he traced her with the phone?
All of a sudden, a car sped towards hers like the speed of light and hit her car, her car lost balance and began to tumble. Her heart skipped. How about her children that are inside the car? Are they dead? And why did she suddenly feel numb and light? Was she not hurt?
She suddenly noticed she was upside down in the car and heavy blood was gushing out of her forehead, “oh no! I do not want to die!” She mumbled again and again but her body was losing all strength..
“No… no…” Were the last words she said before darkness overpowered her.
