Before she could finish her statement, Yuri walked towards them swiftly, “sir, there’s a message from Pavel, I think you may want to check it out.” For Yuri was carrying a box in his hand.
Dmitry, unbothered by what the content could be made a gesture, permitting him to unbox.
Yuri placed the box on the table that was between Natasha and Dmitry and then unboxed it. Inside it were some documents. He brought it out and before he could even scan through it, Dmitry collected the papers from him.
“Why are you trying to see the content, was it sent to you?”
“I’m sorry, sir.” Yuri apologized. He wouldn’t have done that, it’s just that some words caught his attention.
The first document was a letter from Pavel, stating, “Hi Dmitry, it’s obvious we are now on bad terms. And it’s quite unfortunate that all these are happening because of a woman.”
The next paragraph reads, “while you might have helped Natasha out, please understand that your kids are still with me.”
Dmitry paused after reading those words, “your kids’ in the sentence caught his attention the most. Then he assumed it was a typo so he read further.
Next paragraph had stated, “the twin that Natasha keeps claiming is for Naomi actually belongs to her. And you are the father of the babies. It’s unfortunate that as powerful as you are, a woman could still deceive you. A woman that doesn’t trust you enough to reveal the identity of your kids to you is definitely not worth your protection.”
And then the last paragraph reads, “attached to this document is the original DNA test result. The one your doctor sent to you when you did the DNA test then was fake, I made it so cause I was secretly trying to help Natasha who didn’t want you to know the truth. Dmitry, these kids of yours that are with me won’t be released unless of course, you send me back my Natasha. But you can’t have both the mother and the kids.”
Dmitry checked the next document and there it was, a DNA test result that proves Natasha’s twin were his.
He dismissed Yuri and handed over the document to Natasha. Natasha’s heart skipped. Deep down, Dmitry had always had his doubts about Natasha”s kids.
“You didn’t abort the pregnancy after all,” Dmitry said.
Natasha’s heart began to beat heavily, not knowing what he would do to her. Although his reaction is still calm, Natasha feared greatly.
“I didn’t,” Natasha finally confessed. “I can’t kill an innocent life just because the father refused to accept the pregnancy.”
“You casted me out when I told you that I was pregnant. Obviously, you don’t want anything to do with me and the babies, this is why I didn’t see any reason to let you know you are the father of the babies,” Natasha confessed with a broken heart.
“You have to help our children. I know I’ve lied to you, you can punish me all you want but I want my children out of that monster’s custody.” Natasha said with tears now streaming down her face.
Dmitry finally understood the reason behind the chemistry he always feels between himself and the kids. And that Naomi woman can act well, acting as if she’s the mother.
“I’ll save my kids,” Dmitry assured. “As a father, it’s my responsibility to.”
Natasha exhaled.
“As for you…” Dmitry stared at her for a while and then said, “I’ll continue to protect you as well since you are the mother of the babies.”
Natasha began to wonder if he had no plan of punishing her. “But you’ve lied to me…” He paused.
“I did it because you rejected my …”
“Enough!” He slammed his hand on the table angrily then he stood. “Keeping my children away from me is your way of payback, huh?”
“You know what I’ll do, huh?” He asked angrily. “I’ll marry another woman and make that woman raise your kids. And you… will be out of sight. I’ll never let you lay your eyes on your kids anymore.”
“Dmitry…. please, you can’t do that,” Natasha stood, crying aggressively. This was her guess, and this was her fear- that he would separate the babies from her.
“Begging me is disgusting.” He said. “I’ll continue to protect you, yes, but forget about having access to your kids. To think you’ve had the gut to lie to me over and over again… You disgust me!” Then he walked away.
Natasha sunk her butt to the seat and sobbed even harder. While crying, a call came through to her phone and although it was an anonymous call, she answered, “you don’t have to block my line, Natasha.”
Natasha recognized the voice to be that of Pavel, “you bastard!”
“I’m not a bastard, sweetheart. I’m the true son of my father,” came Pavel’s unhinged response. “I believe Dmitry will do anything to get his children back but at what cost! You. Why not make things easy, you only have to surrender yourself to my love and I’ll bring your kids to Dmitry unhurt.”
Dmitry had said he was going to get the kids so he would just let him do his thing. She just hung the call up and without saying any more word.
For the next three days, Natasha remained at home, lonely, distressed and depressed. She could neither go to work nor go to the laboratory. She was without peace. She had called Yuri a number of times in an attempt to get an update from him but he had not been answering the call. She couldn’t even dare to call Dmitry’s line since he’s angry at her at the moment.
She’s overly frustrated and doesn’t know what to do next. She was missing her kids so badly. Then she finally made the move she had been hesitating to make. To her surprise, Dmitry answered her call, “Hey.”
Although Dmitry didn’t respond, she proceeded, “please what’s the update about my kids? I’m dying to see them.”
“It’s been difficult trying to get them. Reason is because those I’m trying to save are babies. They could easily get hurt if I go in with full force. I have to be meticulous, it’s the only way I can save the kids unhurt.”
“Thank you so much. How long will it take to get them out?”
“The kids can be out today if you agree to go in,” Dmitry said.
“For my kids, I’ll do anything.” Natasha said. “And I’m sorry for lying to you. Honestly, I’m not a type who lies. I just could not afford to let out the truth about the fact that you are the kid’s father cause of how you treated me when I told you I’m pregnant.”
“Don’t make any move from your end. Give it some more time, I’ll get the kids out.”
Natasha noticed that Dmirry’s voice had become calm, he wondered if he was no longer angry at her. “Will you still not let me have access to my kids?”
“Let’s get the kids out first.” He said.
Natasha sobbed quietly and managed to say the word, “okay.”
Dmitry felt pitiful for her but it’s all her fault she didn’t let him know early, then the call came to an end.
Four more days passed and there was still no success. All of Dmitry’s efforts to get the kids out of Crying Sun remain futile. If he was saving an adult, he would have done that since but he believed the babies to be fragile. Now he has to change strategy regarding how to save the kids.
Dmitry then called Pavel. This was something he couldn’t imagine himself doing for he considered Pavel too lowly to talk to him. When the call connected, Dmitry spoke, “I need you to bring my kids and the nanny over to Leaf City before the day ends.”
“And why will I do that?” Pavel asked. “My father already made your assistant understand that if you people want the kids and the nanny, all you need to do is give us Natasha.”
“Consider it a privilege speaking to me directly.” Dmitry said. “You can’t force a woman who is not into you to be yours.”
Pavel remained quiet.
“Ask for anything else apart from Natasha and I’ll see to it.” Dmitry added. “But if you keep proving obstinate, I will give your father the war he wants. Keep in mind that all your father’s men home and abroad are nothing compared to mine. Choose wisely.”
There was another moment of silence, Pavel then finally spoke, “I’ll bring the kids and the nanny over. In return, you must grant me my request. Remember, you’ve promised.”
“So long as it has nothing to do with Natasha, I’ll see to it.” Then the call came to an end.
Few hours later, some men dropped off Naomi and the kids before the Pushkin’s mansion. Yuri was immediately informed and he in turn informed Dmitry and Natasha. Natasha left home at once to come to the Pushkin’s mansion.
On getting inside the house, she saw Naomi with her two kids, she immediately ran and hugged her, “Naomi, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s okay,” Naomi said.
Natasha then examined her twin, she carried them one after the other, kissing their heads happily. She was so glad to see them again.
Natasha then sat, “did he do anything to you?”
“Not at all. We were served food and wine repeatedly and the kids were treated well too,” Naomi said.
“Ha…” Natasha sighed. “Thank goodness.”
Naomi nodded dully, “I need to ease myself.” Naomi excused herself and when she got to the toilet, she leaned on the basin and cried. Yes, the kids weren’t hurt in any way but Pavel’s men will come at night, tie her hands and legs and rape her repeatedly. She will get up in the morning and see all sorts of cuts and bruises around her womanhood. It was most traumatic for her. And recently, her belly was beginning to hurt.
After sobbing for a long time, she cleaned her face and then held her belly that was seriously hurting. She knew she needed to see a doctor fast. Soon, she was back with Natasha who was busy with the kids.
“Mr. Dmitry isn’t here yet, huh?” Just as Naomi asked, Dmitry appeared.
“Naomi,” Dmitry called in a very soft tone. Naomi had never heard her name in Dmitry’s mouth before for she was nothing to him. “Come here.” Naomi walked closer to him fearfully and he whispered to her ear, “my spies told me everything. I’m so sorry.”
Hearing this, Naomi burst into more tears.
