Meanwhile, Yuri received a call from Kenji while himself and Dmitry were on their way to Virgio’s hospital. After the call had come to an end, Yuri said to Dmitry, “one of our low level men in the underground kidnapped a twin that are less than two months old. This isn’t in our codes of honour. Should we ignore it or take action against this person?”
“Kidnapping two months old baby? That’s gross. Deal with the men and ensure the babies are safely returned to their parents,” Dmitry said.
“By dealing with them, you mean exterminating them? Cause that’s the written punishment for anyone who commits this particular offense?” Yuri asked to be sure.
“Leak what they did to our friends in the police.” Dmitry commanded.
“Got it. I’ll ensure the babies are safely returned.” Yuri said.
Soon, their car came to a halt at the underground garage of Virgio’s hospital. As soon as Dmitry stepped down, Yuri quickly walked up to him and spoke, “it was said that the babies are having serious temperature. Though the babies are currently on their way to their parents house, the men transporting them are worried the kids may …”
Dmitry turned to him with a sharp look. Not only was he not good with babies, everyone around him weren’t good with babies neither. Perhaps, when those low level men had kidnapped the babies, they have rough handled them. “I don’t want to be involved in the murder of two innocent babies.”
“Once they get to their parent’s house. We will provide them one of our best doctors to attend to them so that they can get better. I just thought you should know.” Yuri said. He had learnt his lessons a long time ago, no matter how minor a detail is, he will tell it to Dmitry.
“Drive me to where the parents of the twin resides.”
“How about Mr. Pushkin? Since we are already here, shouldn’t you check on him firstly?”
“My grandfather is old and have lived but those babies are yet to live. Drive.” He said as he get inside the car.
Yuri stopped arguing and at once, ordered the driver to drive.
Twelve minutes later, they arrived before a slightly aged three story building. The area was a sparsely populated and was was very quiet.
Dmitry and Yuri were soon out of the car, the other car beside theirs was the car that brought the children from where they were kept by the men who kidnapped them.
Two of the low level underground men could be seen with the twin, each carrying one in a very awkward manner for they had never carried babies before.
Dmitry watched with a lean look as the babies kept crying. Whereas, Yuri had already gone to the main door of the house to call on their parents. Soon, a woman in her early thirties appeared.
“Are you the mother of this twin?” Yuri asked, pointing at the twin that were being carried.
The woman rushed to the babies and collected them one after the other from the men carrying them. She was scared the babies would die as a result of how awkwardly they were being carried.
“Oh my days! Some men forced themselves here and kidnapped them just a few hours ago,” she cried, staring pitifully at the kids while shaking and patting the kids, an attempt to stop them from crying. The baby’s eyes had turned red and had become slightly swollen.
This was the first time Dmitry would watch a baby cry so close to him. And to think he couldn’t help. “The men who kidnapped the kids had been apprehended by the police.”
Naomi, the children’s nannies rose her eyes up when she heard the voice that just spoke. She had heard that voice repeatedly on the TV. Seeing the most powerful man in Leaf City standing before her, she took steps back carefully. She lost her breath for a few seconds as she had never expect that a low level citizen like her could ever see him in person talkless of standing close to him.
“We’ll provide you one of the best doctors who will come often to take care of your kids. I’m particularly interested in seeing that your kids gets better.” Dmitry added.
Naomi swallowed hard and could only nod. She was too dumbstruck to even utter a word, otherwise, she could have explained that she was just a nanny.
Dmitry couldn’t place why he was particularly interested in these twin, he had thought it’s just him trying to correct the silly handiwork of his men but he felt like there could be more.
Dmitry turned in an attempt to leave but the cries of baby suddenly increased. As though they noticed him leaving. He paused and turned back to Naomi who was still carrying the two babies with love.
“Why did their cries increase?” Dmitry asked Naomi.
“I can’t place it. But once I get inside, I’ll immediately do all I can to get them to stop crying,” Naomi was finally able to speak.
Dmitry wanted to walk away again but he suddenly paid attention to the tingling sensation in his heart. He had ignored it before but staring at the kids, he couldn’t help but want to touch them. He disliked women, yes but as for kids… he wasn’t so sure where he stands.
He walked a little bit closer to Naomi and asked, “can I carry one of your kids?”
Naomi was a little reluctant, that was because of the way his men were carrying the twin a few minutes ago. “Sir, can you carry them this way?” Naomi tried to pass the message across to him.
“Hand him over,” his voice became firmer than it was and left no more room for Naomi to utter any more word. There were about fifteen strong looking men in total that were around Dmitry alongside Yuri. They won’t hesitate to bury her alive if she dared to even disobey Dmitry.
Naomi handed over one of the kids to him and he carried the boy child just like Naomi had. The baby curled up even more to his chest, holding his chest very firmly as if he would never let it go.
Dmitry watched as the little one’s cry slowly subsided.
Naomi couldn’t believe her eyes. Infact, the second baby that she was still carrying was still crying very loudly.
“Sir, will you carry the second baby too?”
Dmitry made a gesture that gave the woman the go ahead to hand over the girl child to him. Mysteriously, the second baby’s cry also subsided.
Dmitry couldn’t hide his expression, for he was amazed. But even more, he felt more alive carrying the babies. The babies in his arms made his heart beat in a way that it had not in years. Apart from the fact that the babies were very cute, they also smell very nice. That babyish kind of smell and it was so pleasant.
Dmitry didn’t wish to leave the babies expecially seeing how he had mysteriously made them stop crying. “Take them in and await our doctor. Also, if the babies ever need anything, contact my assistant.”
Dmitry then handed over the babies back to Naomi. As soon as the babies landed on Naomi’s hand, they began to cry, barely opening their eyes but acting like they knew there was a change of hand.
“Sir, I’ve received news about Mr. Pushkin from Kenji, we must leave now,” Yuri says. While the rest of the men standing there lowered their faces in honour and fear. They dared not to look at Dmitry to the face. Not only is Dmitry the most powerful man here in leaf City, he rules the entire underworld. His power and influence extends way beyond the walls of Leaf city.
The men standing as a matter of fact considered themselves very lucky to be standing in a not too far distance from the overall boss of the underworld.
Although Yuri had just called on the attention of his boss, Dmitry still had his eyes on the babies even as Naomi carried them inside.
“Sir, we need to leave now.” Yuri stated again.
Only then did Dmitry turned and got inside the car. As Dmitry’s car drove away, the cars of the men who had brought the babies there also drove off. But at that same moment, another car drove in and the person who stepped out of it was Natasha.
Since she wasn’t the only one living in this three story building, she was less concerned about the many exorbitants car that were just leaving. She thought they were probably here for one of her neighbors.
She rushed swiftly inside her house and when she saw Naomi carrying a bottle of water and heading towards the children’s room, she asked, “are my children back?”
“Yes, they are but they are running a bit of fever.” Naomi answered.
Natasha immediately went swiftly to the room and on examining the kids, she could tell they were running serious fever. Unfortunately, she’s has no medical skill when it comes to treating infants. “I should take them to the hospital.”
“A doctor is coming over,” Naomi answered. “Do you know that the man that brought the kids back is Dmitry Pushkin? The most powerful man in our city.”
Honestly, Natasha had heard that name for so many years but she had no idea how this powerful man looks like. Let’s assume it’s because she’s neither the social media type nor the TV type, plus she hadn’t been particularly interested in him.
But hearing now that her kids were brought by the most powerful man in the city shook her a little.
“He promised to send a doctor over,” Naomi added. Just then a knock came through to the door. “Must be the doctor.” Says Naomi as she walked towards the door.
Whereas, Natasha had immediately picked up her phone and went to Google, putting the following words in the search bar, “images of Dmitry Pushkin – the most powerful man in Leaf City.”
