At the most gigantic mansion in Leaf City, Mr. Pushkin sat on a soft cushion in the forth living room. He was impatiently waiting for his grandson. Soon, Dmitry walked in, his male personal assistant, Yuri entered with him. For they grew up together.
“Grandfather,” Dmitry greeted and went to sit. Yuri walked up to Mr. Pushkin and handed over the marriage certificate of Dmitry and the miracle Doctor to him after which he went to sit on a random seat, both of their attentions were set on Mr. Pushkin.
Mr. Pushkin could be seen focusing his absolute attention on the marriage certificate, his old eyes bore seriously through his custom made glasses. After seeing that all necessities had been done on the marriage certificate, he placed it beside him, a beautiful smile now plastered on his face. “You have done well, Dmitry.”
Dmitry only nodded. “I’ll take my leave now.” He was about to stand when Mr. Pushkin quickly spoke.
“Bring her over for dinner tomorrow.”
Dmitry paused, staring at his grandfather as if he was staring at a clown, “I have barely kmown this woman and you already want her to have a dinner with us?”
“You can get to know more about her during dinner. Please, I want my daughter in law here. And we better start making arrangements for your wedding, it will be the biggest in town.” Says Mr. Pushkin.
Dmitry wondered if his father will ever stop being a thorn in his flesh, “It’s too early to have dinner with her. Bye.” Dmitry had just taken three steps away when he suddenly paused. He turned back to the old man and said, “just so you know, that miracle Doctor doesn’t pique my interest in any way.”
Then he began to walk away.
Mr. Pushkin grunted in frustration, “Yuri!” He called loudly and Yuri turned to the man, this time, Dmitry had already stepped out through the door. “Please persuade your friend to bring the miracle Doctor for dinner.”
“I’ll try sir. Please take lots of rest, Mr. Pushkin.” Then he followed after Dmitry.
On getting to the underground garage of the Pushkin’s mansion, Yuri scanned through Dmitry’s schedule and said, “sir, you will be meeting our four major shareholders in ten minutes.”
“Okay.” Dmitry said as he got into the car.
“Three of our auditors came late to work today by one minute, I thought I should let you know.” Yuri said. “Although these three auditors had immediately written to the CFO, a formal letter of apology stating the reasoms for their lateness.”
“They are fired!”
Yuri furrowed his brow, “sir, it’s just one minute lateness plus it’s their first time.”
Dmitry shot him a stern look and said, “I guess you are tired of your job.”
“Of course not, sir. They will be leaving the company immediately.” Yuri said and immediately put a call across to the company’s head of human resources.
Whereas, Natasha was at Woza group of companies legal department. She was a lawyer by profession and had come for interview a few days ago in a bid to get a job. Today, she and fourteen other applicants had been called upon. Actually, over five hundred people had been interviewed but she was lucky to be one of the fifteen candidates that was called upon.
Being called upon doesn’t necessarily mean that they have been given a job. Natasha sat nervously on her seat, waiting for when it will be her turn. Soon, her name was called and she stood and entered the main office.
If she can secure this job, then she’s made it to an extent. She can conveniently take care of her kids and even protect her kids by herself without needing anyone’s help. Woza group of companies was by far the biggest company in Leaf City.
Five minutes later, Natasha stepped out with tears rushing down her face. Her already broken heart shattered even more. She began to walk sluggishly away from the legal department area. She had been denied the job.
Although she was sobbing quietly, not even one person paid her attention. For she wasn’t the first person to cry out of the office. She was almost reaching the elevator that will take her downstairs when she suddenly sighted a man, dressed in a deep black single- breasted suit, he was coughing and holding his chest, as if he was feeling pain therein. What’s even more terrifying is that blood was running through his nose.
Natasha rushed swiftly towards the man, “sir, you are having epistaxis and hemoptysis, and from what I observed, it had affected you immensely that if not treated with urgency, you will loose your life in weeks.”
The man paused the cleaning of the blood running through his nose and looked at Natasha with surprise. Natasha was dressing very simple and didn’t look elegant in any way. The man wondered how this ordinary looking woman is able to perfectly diagnose what’s happening to him.
“Are you a doctor?” The man asked.
” By profession, no. But by gift, yes.” Natasha answered. “I’m gifted and skilled when it comes to medicine.”
“Are you saying you didn’t study medicine?”
“Not at all, sir. I’m a lawyer by profession.”
“Oh! Anyways, thank you,” the man finished cleaning the blood on his nose. He assumed that Natasha had probably read about his case somewhere or even have someone close who has a similar condition as his so he stopped being impressed. “If you will excuse me.”
He was about to take the first step away when Natasha spoke, “I guess you’ve tried every possible ways to get healed but it had not work. I can help you heal permanently.”
“It’s not curable. My condition is more intense than you think. I am to keep managing it with drugs. Thank you though.” The man said cooly.
“I just said I can help you. That’s if you let me.”
“You aren’t even a doctor by profession. See ma, this is not a club where women hook up with men and vice versa. This is a very serious company and if my bosses sees me having an unnecessary conversation, I’m getting fired.” He said as politely as he could.
Natasha felt slightly insulted. This man thought she’s flirting with him, huh?
“By the ways, I’m a doctor myself so trust me when I say my condition has no permanent cure. Will you excuse me, please?” One could tell the man is frustrated yet didn’t want to walk away from her in a way that will look rude.
“Ask me any question in medicine and I’ll answer you. By the ways, if I can heal you, you’ll have to get me a job here in your company.”
The man checked his wrist watch and huffed. He didn’t know he was going to meet an obstinate and weird woman today. He said, “okay, come with me.”
Soon, they appeared at a large door, wherein it was written, ‘Medical Department.” And soon, they entered another security storm door and then appeared in a pretty spacious office.
The man sat on his table and then made a gesture, “please have your sit.”
Natasha sat quietly.
“Pavel, head of the medical department of Woza group,” Pavel introduced himself. He had a deep black straight hair that lies close to his head. He looks classy and has a certain degree of sophistication.
“Natasha. I’ve just been rejected by the the legal department, I’m hoping that after helping you get better, you can help me use your connection to persuade them to accept me.” Natasha stated.
“I honestly do not believe you can do anything related to healing. But anyways, I’ll ask you a few questions and if you answer well, I’ll allow you to experiment on me.” Pavel said.
“Experiment? That shouldn’t be the word. I do not have to experiment on you, I know how to cure your sickness.”
Pavel nodded simply, one could tell he had no iota of belief in Natasha’s acclaimed medical skill, “what causes hemoptysis?”
“Could be blood clot in the lungs, could be an infection in the lungs as well.” Natasha answered swiftly. ”
“And epistaxis?”
“Sinus infections, cold, infact, an hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia could even cause it.” Answered Natasha.
Pavel was shocked. She even knows what HHT means. “You are right. HHT is however a …”
“A genetic disorder that causes blood vessels to form abnormally and bleed easily.” Natasha chirped.
“Now I’m impressed. So how do you intend on treating me?” Asked Pavel.
“It doesn’t work like magic. I’ll need you to get me echinacea, goldenseal, ginger, and thyme. Once it’s ready, call me.” Natasha picked up a pen from his desk and wrote her number there. Then stood. “I know I have taken your time, I should leave now.”
Pavel was dumbstruck. She was almost reaching the exit when he spoke up, “I’ll get all those stuffs in ten minutes, please wait in the receptionist. I’ll send for you as soon as it’s ready.”
“Sure.” Natasha answered and walked away.
