Chapter 226: Stunned Grace

Ethan left in her arms. No matter how anxiously she continued to call his name or shout it with a painful voice, his body would not soften again. In her hands, she still held the bottle Ethan gave her.
Ethan instructed her to use the bottle to collect his blood, go to the Grand Elder for a ceremony, and turn back into a werewolf. But could she calmly take his blood back and turn herself back into a werewolf?
She sat quietly there, and Ethan’s body slowly stiffened in her embrace. The deceased body became grotesque, but she just sat there, motionless, waiting for time to pass second by second in the forest’s dappled shadows.
She didn’t know how long had passed, but she stayed with Ethan’s corpse like that in the shadows of the forest for several days. She didn’t feel hunger, and she didn’t perceive the passage of time. For her now, everything in the world was just an endpoint. This should have been great news. The person who sought revenge was dead, and she killed him herself. Moreover, she could exchange his blood for her werewolf lineage. There was simply nothing more perfect than this.
But her mind was empty. All the emotions of revenge and hatred had been completely forgotten. Suddenly, she felt her long life was seemingly devoid of interest.
Until Maggie and the others found her.
It turned out that since two days ago, Maggie couldn’t contact Grace. She was anxious, afraid that Ethan had done something behind her back and taken Grace away.
Urania taught her a method of entering others’ consciousness to determine Grace’s specific location.
Maggie was very surprised. She didn’t expect this ability to come with such a function. “It feels like using a GPS.”
Elizabeth had never heard of this thing. She had never been to the human world in her life and rarely heard people describe human social habits. “What is that?”
“Well, its full name is the Global Positioning System. As long as you carry it, you can accurately determine your coordinates, with precision reaching a specific latitude and longitude.”
“Wow, that’s amazing!” Elizabeth widened her eyes in astonishment. She didn’t expect human technology to be so advanced, not inferior to the werewolves’ technology. “Has it been popularized among all humans?”
“Yes,” Maggie answered her question while distractedly searching for Grace’s consciousness in her mind. “Now, this is a very popular system. Almost every phone is equipped with this system, so it’s not difficult to find someone in human society because there are surveillance cameras everywhere, plus phone tracking, it’s very convenient.”
“I also want to experience such a life.” She had been a slave in werewolf society for a long time. The resources in werewolf society were tilted, and she had hardly touched any slightly advanced technology, let alone heard of it. Maggie had Alisa bring over an Apple smartphone, and she found it fascinating. Since then, she had been putting effort into studying that little thing.
Maggie said she would bring her the latest electronic devices when there was a chance.
“That’s great! I can experience human life whenever I want. When I give birth, let’s go back to the human world for a few days with Alisa. I’ll take you to visit Times Square and the Empire State Building in New York. I can also show you the Statue of Liberty holding a torch. But the United States doesn’t have as many fun and beautiful places. I can also take you to Venice to ride a boat. The city is built on water, and the night view is beautiful. In summer, we can go to the beaches in Hawaii. People all over the world associate summer with palm trees and beaches in Hawaii; it’s the perfect place to spend the summer.” She found Grace’s location and then turned back to Elizabeth with a smile. “If you want, you can go wherever you like. You are no longer a slave but a free person now.”
Elizabeth was so moved that she turned around and, as if injecting herself with adrenaline, went to help Thomas with the castle’s affairs.
Urania witnessed all of this. “You’re quite good at winning people over.”
Maggie countered her, “It’s called sincerity.”
“Did you find Grace?”
“Yes, found her. She’s in the Moonlit Forest.”
The Grand Elder, who heard from his caretaker that Grace had gone missing again, rushed to Blue Moon Pack despite his body not being fully healed. He was very puzzled when he heard she was in the Moonlit Forest. “Why did she go there?”
Maggie knew the reason but couldn’t say it directly. “Let’s go see if she’s there. If you see her, you can ask her directly.”
When they found Grace, she was sitting alone in a dark corner, holding a withered corpse. Maggie almost didn’t notice her; it was the Grand Elder’s nose that caught Grace’s scent.
They saw Grace’s rigid neck, which, like the body in her arms, had turned into that of a dead person.
The Grand Elder didn’t dare to approach; he was unwilling to accept this possibility. “Is she alive?”
Urania didn’t hesitate. “She’s alive. But it seems that the death of the person in her arms has dealt her a significant blow.”
The apprentice, who had come along as a laborer, also didn’t dare to approach. “Who died?”
“Ethan Frost Bourne.” Urania wasn’t surprised at all. Maggie told her that she had fully disclosed the matter of Peirene to Grace, so she anticipated this outcome. Grace would definitely bring Ethan here, and Ethan, knowing the truth, would surely collapse over his father’s years of concealment and betrayal of his mother. “Go and help Grace up. Maggie and I will take her away. Return Ethan’s body to the Frost Moon Pack, tell Alexander that his eldest son Ethan is dead, died in the Moonlit Forest, just like his mother.”
The apprentice looked at Urania in surprise. “Peirene is dead?”
Urania couldn’t be bothered to explain to him. She went forward to lift Grace, but Grace evaded her.
She felt like swearing. In her mind, Ethan was an out-and-out bad boy, not contributing anything useful to society. Even if he died, there was nothing to regret.
But Grace’s level of sadness far exceeded her imagination. She could only turn her head back, hoping that Maggie could help a little. However, Maggie just stood there with eyes filled with sadness, looking at Ethan, who had died in Grace’s arms for a long time.
Why were both of them like this?
She stood up and, locking eyes with the Grand Elder, said to the apprentice who had followed, “Go to Frost Moon Pack right away and tell their alpha that Ethan is in the Moonlit Forest. Let someone come and take him back. Don’t mention that he’s dead, and don’t mention Peirene either.”
The apprentice immediately set off for Frost Moon Pack.
The two people who were completely sober and didn’t feel sad about Ethan’s passing stood a little farther away, watching them quietly mourn.
“I always felt that Grace was forced to stay with him. But she’s very sad now.”
“Perhaps she was forced, or maybe Ethan did some things to her during this time that were not bad. The deceased is gone, and there’s no need to inquire about certain things.”
The Grand Elder still didn’t quite agree. “Ethan’s misdeeds are well known. Grace is aiding and abetting.”
Urania smiled. “Few people in love remain rational. You should at least be grateful that she only discovered she loved him after the boy died.”
The Grand Elder couldn’t find words to reply.
Although he thought Ethan deserved to die, he still felt sorry for him. He thought, this child could have had a chance to start anew.
