Henson crossed his arms as he looked at Wendy.
She’d turned her head to face the car window though.
He raised an eyebrow and ordered the driver, “Baron, hail a cab for yourself to go back to the villa.”
“Right away, Master Henson,” Baron said as he got out of the car and left by himself.
The two of them were the only people left in the car now. “Who was that man?” He asked.
She refused to look at him. “It’s none of your business,” she said flatly.
“So, you want me to do a background check on him myself?” He probed.
She turned around and glared at him. “What are you trying to pull here, Henson Charles?” She sneered.
“I wanted to ask you the same. What exactly were you trying to pull here, Wendy? As someone who’s slept with you before, don’t I have the right to ask you who was the man you were talking to just now?” He replied.
He felt somewhat defeated. He had her in his grasp, but it always seemed like he was never on her mind.
“Knowing that, why didn’t you tell me you left hickeys on my neck this morning?” She shot back.
“I do recall calling you and telling you not to move though. What else could I have meant by insisting on catching up to you even though I knew you’d be all flustered upon seeing me?” He asked.
“You could’ve just been direct over the phone,” she snapped as she stared at him. “This would’ve never happened if you just told me, and this would’ve spared me the shame I went through on campus.”
“Is it shameful to date now? Or do you feel ashamed just because you slept with me? Are you saying that you won’t be ashamed if you slept with someone else, like that guy just now?” He pressed.
“You-” She said with a red face and opened the car door with the intent of escaping, but he’d grabbed a hold of her wrist, got on top of her and held her down in one fell swoop.
and opened the car door with the intent of escaping, but he’d grabbed a hold of her wrist,
got on top of her and held her down in one fell swoop.
“Where do you think you’re going?” He asked.
“I don’t want to be here with you anymore, so let go of me,” she commanded.
“I. won’t,” he said and suddenly raised an eyebrow in amusement. “But you can, if you don’t mind escaping under me,” he suggested.
This made her face flush. “You’re a meanie, Henson. You’re such a bully,” she pouted.
With his eyebrows still raised he said, “I’ve bullied many people before, but out of all the people who have the right to say that, you’re not one of them. After all, I’ve been treating you well all this time. Heck, even I’m surprised at how kind I’ve been to you all this while.”
“You only know how to mess with me and lie to me. Was it that hard to just tell me?” She asked.
At this, he finally realised they were arguing on different topics.
Initially, he thought that she was mad at him for not allowing her to have a meal with other men,
but it was apparent that she was still sore over the fact that he left hickeys on her.
He lifted a hand to caress her face while he towered over her.
“I gave you a choice this morning, and yet you still chose to avoid me. I wasn’t the one who forced you into making a decision, yes?” He asked.
“Y-you’re just evil. You’re evil from the inside out,” she blurted and turned her head to avert his gaze. He then turned her face back with his hand to make her look at him.
“I recall someone hugging me and saying that I was a good person last night though,” he teased.
“Well, that person made a mistake and is now regretting it,” she pouted.
“I happen to know that people only spill their true feelings when they’re drunk,” he said and raised an eyebrow. “I really don’t get why you’re so hung up on the hickeys though. Won’t you be able to admit you’ve found a man if they see it? Is it so wrong to have s*x at your age? Or are you pissed because I’m not the person you really want?” He asked.
Her face flushed out of anger.
Seeing that she fell silent, he asked again, “That man from just now, who was he exactly?”
She grunted and turned her face to the side.
She refused to even give him the time of day now.
He nodded after seeing that. “Alright, so that’s how it is,” he said.
With him still towering over her, he pulled out his phone and phoned his secretary up.
He commanded over the phone, “Dayne, have someone to look through the surveillance footage on the second floor of Grande Mall. Also, you have half an hour to do a background check on the man who was talking with Wendy about ten minutes ago-”
But before he could finish speaking, she swatted his hand
and quickly snatched away his phone away. After hanging up the call, she hollered, “Are you insane, Henson? He just talked with me for a bit, so why do you want to run a background check on him?”
“Because the person he was talking to was you,” he smirked.
“Do you plan to run background checks for all the men who talk to me in the future?” She said, flabbergasted.
“You know very well that he’s different from other men,” he said.
She knew she’d been caught, so she averted his gaze.
His anger flared. “This woman’s a terrible liar,” he thought.
His voice was colder now. “So, do you want to tell me yourself, or do you want me to run a background check on him? It makes no difference to me anyway,” he said.
She felt suffocated then, so she breathed in harder, which made her chest bob.
His gaze drooped down just in time to see her chest bobbing up and down. Little Henson couldn’t help but get a little excited at this.
Upon sensing something else pressing against her, she was afraid that he’d start doing it right there and then,
so she hurriedly said, “Get off of me first, and I’ll tell you.”
He didn’t want himself to lose himself in the moment too, so he got off her and took a seat properly.
“You better call Dayne first and tell him to stop finding information on him,” she ordered.
He obliged and made a quick call and hung up shortly after.
“The man you saw was Ross Lowry. He was my neighbour up till I was eleven years old,” she explained.
“You two were just neighbours?” He quizzed.
“I don’t care if you believe me or not, but I swear I’m not lying. Back then, his parents were always busy with work, so he’d be home alone most of the time. Since we were neighbours for quite some time now, his parents knew that my family had some financial difficulties, so they’d occasionally leave Ross to us to babysit whenever they had to travel abroad. They would then pay my mom for taking care of him while they were gone.
“At the time, Ross was really good at studying. So, whenever his parents came home late, he’d eat dinner at my place, and after dinner, he’d help me with my studies. Ross acted like a brother I never had back then, and I liked him a lot,” she said.
“‘Liked him’?” He repeated.
She rolled her eyes at him and said, “Don’t you dare use that dirty mind of yours to gauge my feelings toward him at the time. I was in elementary school then, where ‘liking someone’ was purely just that. It’s not what you’re currently thinking, for sure.”
“You might not be in elementary school anymore, but the way you smiled at him so sweetly just now made you look like you were. What did you want me to think?” He snorted.
“Wouldn’t you be happy if you bumped into someone you’ve been separated from for a long time?” She asked.
He snorted. “Nope,” he replied bluntly.
“Who’d believe that?” She scoffed.
“I would,” he said in a firm tone. “Go on,”
“It’s not like I did anything wrong,” she cut him off.
“They way you look in my eyes now is no different from a woman who’d just cheated on her husband,” he said.
“You-” She was livid.
“Cut the cr*p and get on with the story,” he urged.
She didn’t have the strength to continue arguing with him, seeing as she’d never won an argument with him before anyways.
“Then, when I was ten years old, my mother thought it was enough after seeing Ken’s frequent harassment towards me, so the both of us moved elsewhere. I’d only seen Ross twice, a year after that,” she said.
“How come you still remember something that happened more than ten years ago so clearly?” He probed.
