When Maggie woke up, she found herself in a luxurious residence. The grandeur of the mansion made her even more uneasy, as if she had stepped into a completely different world. It was Aldrich’s residence!
The warm evening sunlight filled the entire room. However, Aldrich was nowhere to be seen. Across from Maggie were two rows of maids, observing her with reverence and curiosity, willing to serve her at any moment. This woman carrying Aldrich’s child was welcomed by them.
Maggie felt like she had entered a completely unfamiliar world, and her nerves began to tremble. She couldn’t help but wonder if these maids were also werewolves.
Dressed in pristine uniforms, they moved gracefully, suggesting a supernatural existence. As Maggie tried to make sense of her surroundings, her mind was filled with questions and a hint of fear.
The elderly butler, Thomas, approached Maggie, offering some comfort. “Good evening, Miss Maggie,” he respectfully nodded in greeting. “Mr. Barrett has urgent company matters to attend to. He apologizes for not being here when you woke up. He’ll come to check on you later.”
Maggie wasn’t concerned about Aldrich’s whereabouts; she just wanted to know if she was safe here and if she could assert her rights to keep her child. She hurriedly got off the plush bed and asked, “When will Aldrich be back? And where’s Alisa? I need to get back home!”
Thomas followed Maggie. “Miss Maggie, no need to panic. Aldrich, like you, wants the best for the child. During the early stages of pregnancy, the child is very sensitive and can feel every emotional fluctuation. Maggie, relax, let the baby rest, and enjoy.”
Thomas, with his warm gentlemanly demeanor and a friendly smile, was reassuring. Anyone who saw his smile would instantly feel a sense of calm.
Maggie nodded, trying to get a grip on herself. “Thank you,” she whispered, taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart. “Waking up in a strange place… it’s all so overwhelming. I… Can you tell me more about this place?”
The butler’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “Ah, I’m sure your mind is full of questions, but…” he answered mysteriously. “I can only say that they are loyal to Mr. Barrett, just as any outstanding employees should be. But rest assured, Miss Maggie, they will do their utmost to make your stay here comfortable.”
Maggie was curious but decided not to inquire further. Aldrich and his world held too many enigmas, but none of that mattered to her. The only thing she cared about was the child in her belly.
When her stomach growled, the butler extended his arm. “Shall we go to the dining room, Miss Maggie? I’m confident the maids have prepared a lavish feast for you. Mr. Barrett doesn’t want you to go hungry.”
Maggie accepted his proposal with gratitude, smiling. “Could you show me the way? Please inform me when Aldrich returns. I want to see him,” she said, her voice filled with reverence.
They descended the grand staircase, followed closely by the maids. The air was filled with the scent of the dishes, making Maggie’s mouth water. When they entered the luxurious dining room, the sight before her widened her eyes. The table was adorned with exquisite china, sparkling silverware, and an array of mouthwatering delicacies.
Maggie couldn’t help but gasp. “This… it’s incredible,” she whispered, her eyes moving from one dish to another.
The butler chuckled. “Mr. Barrett spares no effort to ensure his guests are well taken care of,” he explained. “Please, have a seat, Miss Maggie. The maids will be with you shortly.”
Maggie took her place at the dining table, her heart filled with gratitude and uncertainty. Watching the maids move elegantly around her, serving each dish with precision and grace, she couldn’t shake off the surreal feeling. This level of affluence was beyond anything she had ever experienced.
She couldn’t deny that, with Aldrich’s help, her babies would receive better care.
A young maid, with a slight tilt of her head, said softly, “It’s our pleasure to serve you, Miss Maggie. Mr. Barrett wants to ensure you have everything you need during your stay.”
Maggie’s gratitude swirled with a hint of confusion. “I appreciate his generosity,” she replied sincerely. “But he doesn’t need to do all this for me, and it’s making me a bit anxious…”
The maid’s smile grew warmer, her eyes filled with understanding. “Miss Maggie, Mr. Barrett is a man with many responsibilities. But rest assured, he cares deeply about you and the child you carry. He only wants to ensure your and the child’s happiness.”
Maggie’s gaze drifted toward the large window, where the evening sun cast a gentle glow on her face. Aldrich’s absence and the opulent surroundings stirred a whirlwind in her heart. The allure of this new world was undeniable, yet at the same time, she still yearned to return to her simple home.
As the tantalizing aroma of the food enveloped the room, Maggie’s hunger overcame any remaining reservations. She savored every bite, with flavors exploding on her taste buds, gradually satisfying her hunger. The maids attended to her needs with care, ensuring her dining experience was extraordinary.
The sheer luxury of that moment left Maggie in awe, and her thoughts were filled with Aldrich’s immense wealth and elevated status. Her previous life and her current opulent existence presented a stark contrast, leaving her wondering how she came to possess such privilege.
Maggie’s thoughts were in disarray, and she didn’t know whether staying by Aldrich’s side would provide more protection for her and her child’s future or bring more threats.
