When Layla left the Ivory Grove Hotel, Flynn drove Rose back to the Garretmann Residence. After the Sharp’s Group was acquired, Rose was in debt for 80 million dollars and had to move into this old community after her family villa was mortgaged.
It was supposed to be the busiest time of day in the community at seven o’clock in the evening, but it was deserted with only a few scattered residents living in a dozen buildings. Most of them were elderly people who had difficulty moving around and young people had long abandoned this place and moved elsewhere.
Flynn frowned as he looked around at this environment. Rose took out her keys and tried to insert them into the lock but couldn’t because she was dizzy from drinking too much alcohol.
“I’ll do it!” Flynn took over and opened the door with her keys. As soon as Rose entered, she went straight to the bathroom and vomited on top of toilet bowl.
Flynn sighed, poured her a glass of milk from the fridge, mixed a cup of water with honey, and then scanned the room.
A faint jasmine fragrance filled the room.
The decor was no different from the last time, except for the addition of a desk with a pile of folders, among which lay a laptop.
Flynn casually picked up one folder containing the client list, product ideas, and top-level leadership for the Swanson’s Group, among other business-related contents.
He then picked up another folder, and on the first page was an introduction to Lilia. Flipping through a few pages, it was mostly similar to the previous folder, documenting an overview of the Hussain family’s group.
From high-level board members’ profiles to detailed introductions of products from a subsidiary holding company, everything was there.
Flynn shook his head and glanced at the bedside clock, the timer set for one in the morning.
“No wonder she’s been looking so tired lately, working until one in the morning every day, getting to the office at six. It’s a wonder she doesn’t look worse!”
Flynn muttered, and at that moment, Rose walked out of the bathroom.
Her face, washed after vomiting, had droplets of water, and she looked pale, with a vacant gaze, exuding exhaustion.
“Next time, let me know beforehand. Why bother going to that garbage Gunner and stirring up trouble for yourself?”
Flynn complained, handing her the honey water.
“Thanks for taking me home. You can go now,” Rose said without taking the honey water, sitting at the desk with a frowning face, not even looking up as she opened her laptop.
Flynn furrowed his brows and closed the laptop, saying calmly, “You need to rest.”
Rose’s face turned black and she said coldly, “Let go!”
“Are you crazy? I kindly brought you back home, and even if I didn’t give you a glass of water to drink, shouldn’t you be grateful for my concern?” Flynn didn’t know what was wrong with Rose. She seemed off on the way back home and exploded like a bomb once they got inside.
“You care about me?” Rose sneered. “You don’t care about me at all; it’s Energence Pharmaceuticals that you’re interested in.”
“Or maybe it’s whether or not you can use Energence Pharmaceuticals to humiliate Layla and her friends.”
“Or perhaps it’s whether or not you can use me to become famous in your business battle against them, so that the Clark family can prove that they haven’t abandoned their son!” Her voice was icy and merciless as she shot out each word like an arrow.
Flynn was stunned by Rose’s words. He stared at her blankly before finally understanding what had gotten into her.
It was obvious that she had been under too much pressure lately with no outlet for release. On top of that, facing the Woods, Swanson, and the Hussain families left her feeling powerless since everything depended on Flynn to solve things.
Her strong personality suffered a deep blow which led her down this path of self-doubt.
“I’ve put so much effort into helping you only to get these few words in return?” Flynn felt hurt as he glared at Rose with anger burning within him.
This woman had no conscience! She actually accused him of using her as a tool for his own selfish desires!
“Don’t tell me otherwise,” Rose sneered again while saying, “You claimed it was all about helping Kevin but really only cared about Layla’s opinion.”
Flynn paused after hearing this statement from Rose because he knew he had mentioned several times before how he wanted to slap Layla across the face when talking directly with Rose earlier on.
Perhaps this woman thought herself nothing more than just another pawn whose dignity had been damaged.
“If you’re tired or stressed out,” Flynn said firmly while looking straight into Rose’s beautiful yet stubborn face, “Go punch a sandbag instead of getting angry at me over nothing! And yes, I did have thoughts about slapping Layla across the face when we first talked but mostly because we are friends!”
“In any case,” Flynn continued, “I spent so much time helping out here; is there anything wrong if I want something in return?”
Flynn looked at Rose’s exquisite yet stubborn face, and a fire surged in his chest. He particularly wanted to press her against the desk and spank her.
He must be insane for wanting to help the Sharp family!
Originally, Flynn had planned to support Rose step by step in reclaiming the company, helping her make friends and grow stronger through various experiences in the process.
But who would have thought things would turn out this way? In Rose’s eyes now, this was who he was?!
If he had known earlier, he would have sent his troops to crush Eahta and those super clans or top financial groups from abroad. He could have wiped out the Woods, Hussain, and Swanson families and returned the businesses to the Sharp family.
Flynn’s words fell on deaf ears as Rose remained cold and stubborn.
Flynn knew that it didn’t matter what he said because Rose didn’t care about reason. She just wanted to be difficult.
Normally, this negative emotion would be small or fleeting but under the influence of alcohol, it was amplified infinitely.
So now there was no point in saying anything because she wouldn’t listen anyway. She just wanted a release for her pent-up emotions.
In this situation, either he could leave or suppress her anger.
Flynn thought about leaving but for some reason couldn’t take that third step forward. All he could see in his mind was Rose crying in her office last time they met.
He couldn’t understand why but decided to ask through gritted teeth, “Are you sure you don’t want to rest?”
Rose still didn’t look up as she opened her laptop screen with an icy glare on her face which sent shivers down Flynn’s spine.
He let out a deep breath before picking up the laptop with a loud snap shut sound.
“What are you doing? I don’t need your help! Get out of my house!” Rose pounced like a lioness with an angry expression on her beautiful face turning into something fierce.
“I’m also being stupid!” Flynn saw how angry she was getting so he threw his laptop onto the couch before wrapping his arm around her waist and walking towards her bedroom.
Rose struggled against him while hitting him repeatedly on his back until finally biting him hard on his lower backside.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” Flynn was already furious when she bit him causing him to lash out at her curvy buttocks with all of his strength making them shake five or six times before stopping.
Rose’s eyes widened in shock while blushing bright red all over as if electrocuted by what had just happened.
