Gunner was also shocked.
The Spencer family had absolute power in Shipmeda, surpassing any other wealthy family. The eldest son was the governor of Shipmeda, a position that would have been equivalent to a prince in ancient times! And the old man in front of them was his father, the head of the Spencer family!
“I believe this must be Mr. Clark,” Barney said with a smile as he looked at Flynn’s gloomy face.
“Gregor Clegane” saw the bloody scene inside the private room and was surprised for a moment before quickly regaining his composure and returning to his cold expression.
“Mr. Spencer, I gave you a gift on your 70th birthday last year. Please help me! Help me!” Gunner cried out like he had found salvation.
Barney ignored him and turned to Flynn saying, “Mr. Clark, I already know about your situation from those girls outside.”
“Let me handle things from here,” he continued.
Flynn sat back down after hearing Barney’s words while “Gregor Clegane” pulled out a chair for Barney to sit on respectfully.
With Barney’s guidance, “Gregor Clegane” removed the military knife that was stuck in Gunner’s hand causing him to cry out again in pain as he pointed at Flynn with bloody fingers saying through gritted teeth, “Mr. Spencer! Rose allowed this madman to hurt me! Please help me report them to the police and have them arrested! I want him dead behind bars!”
But instead of acknowledging Gunner’s request, Barney turned towards Rose with a smile saying, “You must be Ms. Sharp? You are indeed young and promising!”
The Sharp’s Group used to be Niarak’s largest enterprise which had fought against the Woods, Swanson and Hussain families for ten years over business interests; it held headlines for an extended period of time within Shipmeda.
In the end, despite the failure, her reputation as a dominant, ruthless, and heroic woman spread throughout Shipmeda.
Ten years ago, she had chosen her burial ground and ruthlessly regained control from her own relatives using iron-fisted methods.
Her confrontations with other members of the board, leaving them speechless, and a series of other tactics became the talk of Shipmeda, delighting the locals.
“Do not mention it Mr. Spencer.” Rose smiled back at him.
“My hands…” Gunner suddenly realized something was wrong when he heard this, but before he could finish speaking, “Gregor Clegane” interrupted loudly, “Do you have anything else important enough worth mentioning?”
Gunner shivered under “Gregor Clegane”‘s thunderous voice while Barney simply ignored what happened next by turning towards Rose again saying, “All that happened today was due to issues regarding medicinal supplies.”
“Alright, let me see if I can help you out. I know a few people who might be able to assist you. How about Corbin Calder from Alpire Group?”
“What? No way!” Gunner was shocked when he heard that name.
“Mr. Spencer, Corbin is my archenemy. He cannot interfere with Shipmeda’s herbal supply market!”
The Moore’s Group went bankrupt because of Corbin and only survived thanks to the Sharp’s Group’s help.
Later on, Gunner became the largest herbal supplier in Shipmeda and drove Corbin out to Tregaron State in the Jungles of Haralu as revenge for their past feud.
They were mortal enemies who would stop at nothing until one of them was dead.
Barney now wanted to help him return to Shipmeda. How was that possible?
“What do you need me to do against Mr. Spencer?” Gregor Clegane was also hot-headed and slapped Gunner when he interrupted him again.
Rose expressed concern, “Mr. Spencer, the Sharp’s Group had a bad relationship with Alpire Group back then; I don’t think Corbin will help me.”
The Sharp’s Group helped Gunner before and naturally offended Alpire Group as a result.
Now that Alpire Group was doing well in Tregaron, why would they want to assist Rose? It would be good enough if they didn’t kick her while she was down.
“It doesn’t matter!” Barney waved his hand dismissively and said with a smile, “What happened years ago is all water under the bridge now; cooperation for mutual benefit is what matters most.”
“You’re all businessmen whose ultimate goal is growth and expansion. Why wouldn’t he agree to such a large piece of cake like Shipmeda just because of something that happened years ago?”
“And besides, there’s still me! Don’t worry; he’ll agree.”
“No way! Absolutely not!” When Gunner heard Barney say this again, he shook his head vigorously and said, “Ms. Sharp, the Moore’s Group agrees on supplying Energence Pharmaceuticals at import prices. We can sign the contract right now!”
“If Corbin comes back to Shipmeda, then it’ll be over for me!”
Rose naturally agreed wholeheartedly after hearing Barney speak but couldn’t resist sneering at Gunner, “Thank you, Mr. Spencer.”
However, doubts arose in her mind since she had no connection whatsoever with Barney, today being their first meeting, so why did he use his connections just for her?
Thinking about this made Rose look towards Flynn where she saw surprise flash across his eyes.
When Gunner heard this statement directly from Rose’s mouth, it felt like everything around him froze up completely leaving him numb all over.
Over the course of ten years, he built an empire in the realm of medicinal herbs supply in Shipmeda, thinking he could continue to expand and strengthen. Little did he expect that Barney would support Corbin to enter the scene.
With the backing of the Spencer family, the foremost family in Shipmeda, Corbin could undoubtedly reclaim the Shipmeda market, leaving Gunner utterly powerless!
Layla would never risk offending the Spencer family for him.
The only fate awaiting the Moore’s Group was ruin!
For the Sharp family, it was a case of “what goes around comes around”!
Retribution, this was retribution! At this moment, Gunner felt a deep sense of despair.
The muscular man next to Barney turned to Rose and said, “Ms. Sharp, I am Brady Wilson, Mr. Spencer’s personal bodyguard.”
“Mr. Spencer has some private matters he wants to discuss with Mr. Clark.”
Rose hesitated for a moment before nodding and walking towards the door after glancing at Flynn.
“What are you still doing here? Get out!” Brady picked up Gunner and kicked him out of the room before gently closing the door.
Barney sat across from Flynn and gave him a quick glance-over while feeling doubtful even though he had been introduced by Roman.
He looked too young and casual; Barney couldn’t see any signs that he was an expert in anything.
But doubts aside, Barney still believed in what Roman had told him so he politely asked Flynn, “Mr. Clark, Ayden King of Poison killed my relatives; if you can kill him, then my family is willing to pay one hundred million dollars as compensation.”
“Are you hiring me?” Flynn’s face darkened when he heard this request as he coldly replied, “Or do you think I need your money?”
“I’m not implying that.”
Barney quickly explained himself, “I just don’t want your help without paying for it.”
“I’m not interested,” Flynn said indifferently while eating his food alone, “Don’t bother me again!”
If Barney had approached Flynn from a national security perspective instead of using such vulgar methods with an air of superiority in his tone, then maybe Flynn would have agreed but now it seemed unlikely.
Barney frowned deeply at hearing this response which made his expression stiffen up completely; taking a deep breath, he bowed down respectfully while saying, “Mr. Clark, I apologize for offending you earlier. I hope we can talk about King Of Poison again sometime.”
“After years of investigation, I have reason to believe that King of Poison has had dealings with the Swanson family and may have helped them in their conflict with the Sharp family.”
“Given Ms. Sharp’s feud with the Swanson family, it is likely that they will turn to King of Poison for assistance against her.”
