Chapter 220 Arrogant Old Thing

“Flynn! What are you doing?” Madeline stood up, clearly angry.
“I’m buying medicine for the Wong family,” Flynn replied nonchalantly, turning to Kamari. “Are you still bidding?”
Kamari panicked. If he bought the ginseng root for 20 million dollars, his family would skin him alive if they found out. But if he didn’t buy it, he would lose face in front of all the Niarak elites present at the auction.
“What should I do?” Kamari’s face turned red and pale.
The auctioneer Milan called out, “20 million dollar once!”
“20 million dollar twice!”
The audience’s emotions were stirred up and they all looked at Kamari.
“Who is this kid? He looks familiar.”
“I don’t know. His face is swollen like a bun. Why did he even bother coming here? He’s just embarrassing himself.”
“He raised his bid to 10. 1 million earlier and I thought he was tough but turns out he’s just a coward. Look at that Flynn guy, raising his bid by millions without batting an eye!”
Kamari felt humiliated as anger boiled inside him but after a moment of rational thinking, he decided to give up, “I forfeit! No more bids from me.”
As soon as those words left his mouth, the atmosphere became dull and everyone looked down on him with disdain.
What a disgrace!
He had never been so embarrassed in his life.
Kamari felt utterly ashamed of himself. Just moments ago, he was taunting Flynn about losing face but now it was him who had lost it instead!
If only he stayed home…
“You’re impressive!” Kamari pointed angrily at Flynn as Milan spoke up, “Friend, bidding is all about highest bidder wins; if you can’t afford it, then don’t play.”
“Fine! Revenge will come tenfold!” Kamari gritted his teeth but knew better than to cause trouble in Jumbo Auction House. He sat back down sullenly under everyone’s gaze while Flynn paid with Rose’s black card before calling Uriah again for another 10 million transfer since their previous offer wasn’t enough yet.
Half an hour later after two rare herbs were sold off during the tail end of the auction…
At that moment, the etiquette lady pushed a small cart onto the stage. The wooden basin on the cart was filled with something similar to ginseng slices, a full basin of it.
Flynn immediately recognized this item as the formula he had been searching for Bone-Cleansing Pill – Bloodwort.
At the same time, not far away, Garrett, a renowned doctor also felt excited and stirred up. He had come to Niarak not only to help Braiden but also to buy Bloodwort.
From the sample brought up by the etiquette lady, this batch of Bloodwort was definitely top quality! Several pharmaceutical bosses nodded in agreement; they were all in need of this herb too.
The host Milan introduced, “That’s right. This round’s auction item is wild premium Bloodwort.”
“As we all know, artificially cultivated Bloodwort has much lower efficacy than wild-grown ones.”
“And just like ginsengs, older trees have better medicinal effects.”
“Today at Jumbo Auction House we are auctioning off one tonne of premium wild-grown Bloodwort aged over fifty years!”
“The starting price is seven million dollars!”
Wild-grown Bloodwort has amazing effects on promoting blood circulation and removing stasis. It is a rare and precious herb that is essential for some pharmaceutical companies producing trauma medicine.
However, because it is highly toxic and known as “the throat-sealing poison,” it must be used with caution.
With only one tonne available and such high-quality specimens being extremely rare; everyone in attendance began bidding fervently. Pharmaceutical company bosses were determined to win it over quickly raising its price tag up to 16 million dollars!
Just then Garrett stood up from his front-row seat and shouted loudly, “I’ll pay 20 million dollars!”
After saying that he turned around facing everyone present, “Dear friends! I am in dire need of this one-tonne Wild-Grown-BloodWort! Please give me a favor, let me have it.”
“After the auction ends I will thank each person with a Spirit-Nourishing Pill!”
The faces of those who came for bidding darkened upon hearing his words. Who didn’t need that one-tonne batch? But since Garrett was well-known as an Ostrad-ranked doctor who cured many bigwigs’ illnesses, they dared not offend him easily.
Moreover he even offered 300 thousand worth pills so although people weren’t happy about losing out on their bids they still held their tongues.
Although Milan remained calm on her face, he couldn’t help feeling unhappy inside. Auctions were supposed to go by highest bidder wins but now Garrett broke convention!
But since Garret had cured many bigwigs’ illnesses before plus being Roman’s disciple, he couldn’t afford offending him so he could only swallow his anger down silently.
The scene fell silent again…
Garrett couldn’t help but feel proud of himself. He was Garrett, and no one dared to challenge him. That was power!
In the states surrounding Shipmeda, whether it was the city leaders or the owners of billion-dollar mansions, they all gave him some respect.
Even if he went to Eahta, Ostrad’s center of power, he could still hold his own!
He had set his sights on this ton of Bloodwort and was determined to get it.
Just then, a voice rang out calmly.
“30 million!”
Everyone turned their heads in surprise.
It was him again!
The young man who had just competed with Kamari had made another move!
Not only did he dare to call out such an exorbitant price, but he also had the ability to pay for it. Wasn’t that what they called a big shot?
But no one expected that this young man would dare not give Garrett face. When Garrett made it clear that he wanted this ton of Bloodwort, Flynn didn’t hesitate to make another bid on top of the previous 20 million.
Garrett turned his head towards Flynn and his expression darkened instantly.
Madeline snapped out of her shock and quickly pulled Flynn aside while angrily whispering, “What are you doing? Please calm down! Sit down!”
Scarlet frowned slightly as she watched from the sidelines and whispered, “Brother-in-law, Garrett has strong connections and great abilities. You should give him some face.”
She lived in Pelens and had heard about Garrett since she was young. This old man’s reputation wasn’t any worse than Layla’s; he was a frequent guest at many billionaire mansions’ events.
“Who do you think you are?” Kamari stood up first and pointed at Flynn while shouting, “How dare you steal from Garrett?”
“Steal from him?” Flynn furrowed his brows slightly before saying indifferently, “Isn’t this Bloodwort being auctioned off by Jumbo Auction House? When did it become owned by Garrett?”
“If something is being auctioned off by an auction house, then whoever bids highest gets it, right? You often participate in auctions too; don’t tell me you don’t know how things work around here.”
Kamari choked up after hearing these words before sitting back down with red cheeks.
When Garret heard what Flynn said earlier, his gaze fell upon Flynn like sharp knives as he coldly said, “Now that you know who I am, are you sure you don’t want to give me some face?”
“Some face?”
A cold smile appeared on Flynn’s lips as his eyes narrowed slightly, “You’re nothing more than an arrogant old fool; why should I bother giving someone like yourself any respect?”
