Chapter 184 Termination of Contract

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-4

Madeline looked at Flynn in shock and asked, “Is this bracelet really that expensive?” Before Flynn could answer, Charlotte sneered beside her.
“The bracelet is real, but whether it belongs to Flynn is another story,” Charlotte taunted. “Flynn has already spent all his money helping you out.”
“Poor guy had to become a security guard. Do you really think he can afford this jade bracelet?”
“Even if he had millions now, without social status or power, how could he buy such a rare and valuable piece of jade?”
“This ex-con Flynn has only one way to get this bracelet: steal it!”
As soon as these words were spoken, the crowd erupted into discussion. “Makes sense! This loser spent all his money buying land for Paulina’s family and doesn’t have any left for a $30 million bracelet!”
“He’s not even considered an ex-con anymore since he just got out of prison. Where would he find the connections to buy something worth millions?”
“Did you notice that this guy doesn’t even know how much the bracelet costs? What does that tell us? It’s definitely not his!”
After their discussion, they unanimously concluded that Flynn stole the jade bracelet.
“No wonder why he was so low-key about it; turns out it was stolen!”
Milo sneered at Flynn before saying, “Your martial arts skills are impressive; if used for good purposes, maybe you’ll achieve something someday.” But then Milo added sternly, “But relying on your skills to sneak into wealthy homes and steal things will only lead you back to jail.”
Milo’s words were like nailing down a coffin lid.
Everyone present now believed that Flynn had indeed stolen the jade bracelet. While they rejoiced in seeing him return as a loser again, they also harshly criticized him.
Paulina trembled with fear as she thought, “The value of this bracelet is worth millions; if it was stolen by someone like him who could be sentenced indefinitely for theft… wouldn’t I be implicated too?”
Flynn impatiently retorted, “I live in a place worth over 300 million dollars! Every item in my room or collection room is worth several million dollars! Why would I need to steal something worth only several tens of million dollars?”
“What nonsense is he spouting? A house worth over 300 million dollars? He must have lost his mind!”
“Is there even such thing as a house worth 300 million dollars? This guy keeps bragging more and more!”
“The Thodell Mansion in Plenilune Mountain is worth over 300 million dollars! There are even mansions worth that much. Can he say he lives there?! The crowd burst into laughter, clearly not taking him seriously.
“Well, you guessed right. I live in the Thodell Mansion,” Flynn said with a straight face.
The group was stunned for a moment before erupting into thunderous laughter. Madeline’s face turned red with embarrassment.
When Layla first arrived at the Kaur family’s home, she suspected that Flynn was scouting out the area and stealing things. Now it seemed like he had been caught red-handed and was lying about living in the mansion as an excuse.
“Is this guy joking? If he really lives in Thodell Mansion, then I can go live in a palace!”
“Clark must have suffered some brain damage while he was locked up because he dares to say anything! Saying that he found this bracelet is still better than this explanation!”
“This is so embarrassing! Matteo’s family has such a son-in-law who can’t hold his head up high anymore!”
Charlotte laughed uncontrollably, tears streaming down her face as she sarcastically praised Flynn, “Wow! Brother-in-law is so amazing! I’m so impressed!”
“Since everyone has nothing to do today, and considering that my brother-in-law lives in Thodell Mansion, why not let us go take a look? Expand our horizons, what do you think?”
The expressions of the group remained indifferent, all eyes on Flynn, shaking their heads continuously.
“Sure!” Flynn reached into his pocket, but his expression changed. Frowning, he said, “I’ve lent my villa to someone for a few days, and the keys aren’t with me.”
“Unless you can wait for a couple of days…”
After hearing what Flynn had just said, everyone burst into laughter once again. Some even slapped their tables from laughing too hard.
“This guy has no hope left. I now know what it means when they say ‘liar liar pants on fire.’ You can’t believe anything this guy says anymore.”
“What an embarrassment! As part of the Kaur family, having someone like him marry into our family has completely disgraced our ancestors’ legacy.”
“Just earlier he was trying to act all tough but now when we want to verify his claims, suddenly there are all sorts of excuses coming out of his mouth. He’s shameless!”
Charlotte and Milo were laughing so hard that they couldn’t stand straight anymore; their faces filled with contempt and disdain towards Flynn.
“Rose borrowed the villa?” Scarlet raised an eyebrow, a hint of suspicion flashing across her face.
Madeline was stunned for a long time before she finally sighed heavily and shook her head. “Flynn, you’ve disappointed me too much.”
“I knew you would come up with all sorts of excuses to dodge the truth. Lies are lies and they will be exposed sooner or later. Why did you take it so seriously?”
“I’ll go get the keys!” Flynn was also a bit annoyed. After cursing Rose in his heart, he got up to leave.
“All right! Do you still feel embarrassed?” Paulina shouted, pushing the bracelet towards Flynn and saying coldly, “No matter how you stole this bracelet, it must be returned to its rightful owner!”
“If you do it again, I’ll disown you!”
“You’re such a disaster that has brought shame upon our family! It’s simply disgraceful in front of Mr. Barrett!”
“Mrs. Kaur, you’re being too harsh!” Milo saw this and smiled slightly as he tried to mediate, “Flynn has picked up some bad habits while in prison but if he can repent, then give him some time.”
“That’s enough about this matter for now.”
After speaking these words, Milo suddenly exclaimed, “Oh yeah! Madeline, I heard there was something going on at Rhinowares Group’s side? Have you resolved it yet?”
Upon hearing this, everyone looked puzzled except Madeline who became nervous.
“Rhinowares Group? Why do I have trouble understanding what’s going on here?” Frank asked with a frown.
Milo suddenly furrowed his brow pretending to realize something, “Oh! I understand now. Madeline hasn’t informed you about this yet.”
“Hey! That’s not what Madeline should do!”
“With such big news like Rhinowares Group canceling contracts like that, you shouldn’t bear all the burden alone; It’s too exhausting!”
This statement shocked everyone present.
“What exactly happened?” Frank’s face darkened as he whispered lowly.
Madeline knew she couldn’t hide anything anymore so she said, “Rhinowares Group was acquired by the Swanson’s group yesterday which means they re-evaluated our project signed with Rhinowares Group.”
“They found two requirements from Kaur’s group that didn’t quite match their standards which they used as an excuse to terminate our contract.”
“These two requirements had little impact on the project itself so I’ve been negotiating with the Swanson’s group.”
“The Swanson’s Group sent a notice of contract termination early this morning,” she said.
“But don’t worry, I’ll go talk to Mr. Swanson and see if he can be flexible,” she added.
Flynn’s eyebrows furrowed when he heard this!
So that was the true purpose of Milo coming over – to use the project as leverage to force Madeline into doing something humiliating!
Frank, on the other hand, was already completely furious upon hearing this news!
