After saying this, Paulina’s eyes flickered as she turned to Flynn and asked, “Rose has recently acquired Davies’ Pharmaceuticals and secured a billion investment. How about you help us convince her to purchase this 3-million contract and continue cultivating herbs?”
Matteo, disapproving of Paulina’s approach, immediately said to Flynn, “Don’t listen to her. Focus on your work!”
Flynn smiled lightly and said, “Keep the land. It will surely appreciate in value in the future. With two 32 acres, you can make at least 100 million. It’s faster money than investing in other projects!”
Paulina, angered by Flynn’s response, retorted, “I think you’re just a freeloader, benefiting from both sides! That piece of land is useless in our hands! Remember, you are Madeline’s husband, and everything should be for the sake of the Kaur family. If Rose has so much capital, what’s wrong with convincing her to spend 3 million on that land? You’re good at talking, right? Your lies sound just like the truth. It shouldn’t be a problem to deceive Rose!”
Madeline, with a cold face, interrupted, “Mom, please stop. A 5 million bonus is enough to cover the 3 million deficit. We don’t lack money now. Keep the land for the time being. If someone wants to buy it, I’ll handle it later. Flynn, I’ll repay you when I make enough – 17 million!”
Paulina, unwilling to accept this, stubbornly said, “No, you must sell that land! 3 million! Our savings for over a decade! It’s a little something we can recover. Holding onto it, I can’t sleep at night!”
Flynn smiled helplessly and didn’t say anything more. After Paulina prepared a table of dishes, Flynn accompanied Matteo, had a few drinks, and then left the Kaur family.
He called Orion to confirm that the nine dragon pillars had been carved and instructed Orion to have them brought to the entrance of Energence Pharmaceuticals. Flynn then took a taxi to Energence Pharmaceuticals.
Arriving at Energence Pharmaceuticals, the large truck was already parked at the company’s entrance. After confirming his identity with the driver, Flynn checked the dragon pillars. Once he ensured that the dragon carving hadn’t opened its eyes, he went to the security guard and explained his purpose.
The old man immediately made a call and, after hanging up, said, “You can go in, but the truck can’t enter!”
“What is Rose doing? She reported my name, but she didn’t agree?” Flynn thought to himself, and Rose’s cold and icy face appeared in his mind again. He had the urge to press her beautiful face against the table and rub it hard.
Flynn told the driver to wait for instructions and went into the company alone. A petite female secretary in professional attire greeted him in front of the office building. After a brief inquiry, she led Flynn to the security department.
The head of security was a man in his thirties with a crew cut, rugged features, wearing a formal suit that showed off his muscular build. “Mr. Blevins, this is our new employee Flynn. Can you show him around?” The polite secretary said.
Before Sharp’s Group went bankrupt, Sage Blevins was Rose’s bodyguard who had once saved her from being attacked by a knife-wielding assailant before being promoted as deputy head of security department.
After Rose acquired the company, Sage immediately contacted her and brought along several former colleagues, and became head of Energence Pharmaceuticals’ security department.
During this time, he was in a meeting with the security department personnel.
“Alright! Ms. Sharp just spoke to me. She mentioned that Flynn will be acting as her personal bodyguard during this period!”
Upon hearing this, a hint of jealousy flashed in everyone’s eyes. In this line of work, being a personal bodyguard was a step closer to becoming the head of the security department. The salary was on par with the head of the security department, and the position was equivalent to a deputy, making it an attractive job.
After a brief moment of jealousy, a cold smile appeared in the eyes of the onlookers. Rose’s security was previously Sage’s responsibility. Now, with the addition of someone with a role similar to a deputy, Sage felt the threat and would undoubtedly assert dominance.
As expected, after Sage smilingly bid farewell to the secretary, his expression immediately turned cold and ruthless. Seeing Flynn, who appeared so young, he flashed a hint of disdain and loudly commanded, “Attention!”
Flynn swayed into position within the ranks.
“Stand at attention! At ease!”
Everyone immediately straightened their bodies, adopting a solemn expression. Sage, observing their disciplined behavior, felt a sense of satisfaction.
However, when he saw Flynn still standing loosely, his face darkened.
“I don’t care how you behaved before, but once you’re with me, you must maintain military discipline – stand and sit properly. Everything will be managed militarily!”
“My words are the law, and you have no right to question them! You must complete everything 100% without fail!”
“I don’t care if you were recommended by a relative or friend. If Ms. Sharp encounters any trouble, don’t blame me for not giving face!”
“The security department doesn’t keep useless people, let alone disobedient ones!”
Flynn knew they were talking about him but didn’t care.
Sage saw that Flynn was still relaxed and his expression grew darker as he spoke coldly, “Flynn, repeat what I just said.”
Flynn glanced at Sage and replied nonchalantly, “I don’t know.”
Everyone was shocked by his response.
“You don’t know? How dare you challenge Mr. Blevins like that?”
“What’s the use of having connections? Does Mr. Blevins have strong backing? He’s just Ms. Sharp’s savior; one word from him can make him leave!”
“You employees of Davies’ Pharmaceuticals may not know this, but Mr. Blevins has a bad temper. This guy probably won’t last two days before he gets fired!”
Sage looked at Flynn coldly and snorted, “When I worked at Sharp Group before, I’ve seen plenty of troublemakers like you who submit within three days.”
“If you have any self-awareness, get out now before being kicked out in disgrace later on!”
Flynn frowned suddenly.
What was Rose doing? She didn’t even introduce him properly to these people or give them a heads up about him.
He felt somewhat unhappy inside as he shrugged and said, “Mr. Blevins, I’m just here to go through the motions; there’s no need for you to target me.”
“Who do you think you are that deserves my attention?” Sage sneered with disdainful eyes.
“I can’t stand people like yourselves who think they’re something special because of their connections while being useless parasites.”
Flynn laughed after hearing that, indifferently saying, “Many people find me disagreeable. Where do you stand in that lineup?”
This statement rendered the entire security department silent.
“This guy is too arrogant! He has no filter in his words!”
“What’s the use? Mr. Blevins is a former special forces soldier. Dealing with this kind of trash is like playing for him!”
“He dares to confront Mr. Blevins from the start. Today, Mr. Blevins will surely establish his authority.”
Everyone was eager to flatter Sage, siding against Flynn.
Sage’s face turned dark, feeling extremely annoyed.
His subordinates were all military restorers, so how did Rose arrange for such a thing to be her personal bodyguard?
“No matter how tough you are in prison, I’ll handle you like a little chick.”
“Even if you’re just here to loaf around, you still have to act the part. If you dare talk back to me again, don’t blame me for making an example out of you!”
“If you want to stay here, then you’ll have to act like my lackey!”
“Lackey?” Flynn’s face darkened when he heard this and he spoke coldly, “What if I say no?”
