Anna POV
I saw my son standing outside watching a car drive away.
“Dave? Why are you back so soon?” I asked him.
“Mother!” He yelled and ran to me. He hugged me tightly and started crying.
“What happened Dave? Did you get fired?” I asked, hoping he didn’t.
“No mother. These are tears of joy. Mother our lives have changed for the better.” He said.
“Really? How? I mean, what happened?” I asked anxiously.
“Mr Adams.” He said and my heart skipped.
What did that useless man tell him? What did he do that has my son excited? I just hope it doesn’t involve me cause I don’t have anything to do with drunks.
“Mother! Are you even listening to me?” He asked and I flinched.
“Yes, yes, I’m listening.” I replied.
“Okay. As I was saying, Mr Adams, my boss,” He started and I breathe a sigh of relief.
I can’t believe his nice boss has the same name as that drunk. It almost gave me off.
“He gave us a new house!” Dave screamed.
“What? He actually did that. Well, I know you told me before but this is unbelievable.” I replied happily.
“Yes mother. And he said he is coming over to pick us up tomorrow and take us to our new home.” Dave added.
“I pray the best things always come his way. He is such a good man and deserves the best in life.” I said.
“Yes mother. Only the best.” Dave agreed.
Adams POV
Ever since I came back to my office after dropping Dave, I’ve just been thinking of one thing alone and that is the mysterious lady.
I would have asked around about her but I don’t know her name. It’s really not a surprise to me that she would blocked me. With the way she just decided to give me her number I should have seen it coming.
“Mr Adams!” A voice yelled.
I shook back into reality. I looked up to see Charles right in front of my desk.
“Yes? Why did you shout my name in that manner? I am your boss not some sort of a deaf worker.” I said.
“Sorry sir but I had to. I’ve been calling you for a while now but you seemed to be lost somewhere.” He replied.
Damn this woman has really got me crazy. But why wouldn’t she? It’s already late and this is the first day out of the seven that I was given by Johnson.
Even my busy schedules is making things difficult for me.
“Sir!” I heard Charles yell.
“Yes?! What is it?” I asked.
“You drifted off again sir.” He said.
Charles Sat down on the seat at the other end of my desk and stared into my eyes.
“Sir I can’t believe you have go e back to your old ways again.” He said.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Don’t act as if you don’t know what I mean.” He said.
“And what do you mean?” I asked.
“We were best friends sir, remember? The only thing that parted us is our work.” He replied.
“What does that have to do with what you said earlier?” I asked.
“Everything.” He replied.
“How do you mean?” I asked.
“Sir, you’ve found another prey haven’t you? But sir, you know you can’t do that. You’re a m…” He said.
“Shut up! What I do is non of your business.” I cut him off.
“It’s my life and I can do as I please.” I added.
“I can’t just seat back and watch you do this. You’re my friend for crying out loud. It’s a bet wasn’t it? And I’m sure this bet was placed by Johnson.” Charles said.
“It’s non of your business Charles. And unless you want to loose your job, you’d better keep quiet about thus and leave my office.” I said.
“Okay sir.” He replied and left my office.
He isn’t the boss of me. It’s my life and I’ll do with it what ever I want. I will get her and win the bet.
Charles POV
This is getting out of hand. Adams has being losing concentration a lot these days and its not good for the company. If not for all the help I’ve been giving him this company would have lost a lot by now. I just hope what he is doing doesn’t cause any harm to him in future.
The next morning, right after waking up from sleep, I received a call from Mr Adams.
“Hello?” He said.
“Good morning sir.” I greeted.
“Yes, good morning. I need you to do something for me before coming to work.” He said.
“Okay sir. I’m all ears.” I replied.
“You always go to pick up Dave right?” He asked.
“Yes sir. Is there a problem sir?” I asked.
“No. Not at all. I just need you to pick up Dave and his mother and take them to the house I already told you about. You have the keys to the house and the lock right?” He said.
“Yes sir. I do.” I replied.
“Good. Make sure you give them the keys after letting them in.” He said.
“Yes sir. I will.” I replied.
“Oh. And tell them I will be coming to visit soon. I just have some unfinished business to attend to.” He added and cut the call.
I know he is still after the woman in question.
Anyways, who am I to oppose? I’m only doing my job.
I took my bath and prepared for work. When I was finally done with everything, I took my keys, along with the keys to the house and the lock. I entered my car and then drove off.
I find ally reached Dave’s house.
“Good morning sir.” He greeted.
“Good morning Dave. I’m here to take you two to your new home. Adams is very busy and he cannot come right now but will visit you soon today.
” That’s okay. We are ready to go now.” Dave’s mother said.
They didn’t really have much to pack. It’s good that they aren’t the type to waste money.
I opened the back door for them and they both entered.
I was about to enter my car but I saw Mr Adams staring at us from far. He looked so shocked.
What is he doing here? I thought he said he has unfinished business to take care of?
