Chapter 91 No Emotional Intelligence

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-4

“Ponocord Bay?” Scarlet was taken aback. She immediately punched Flynn with her fist and rolled her eyes, saying with a black face, “Brother-in-law, you’re too biased. You gave Rose’s family a pharmaceutical factory to manage and left me with that desolate land?”
“As a farmer? The roads there are difficult to navigate, and the mosquitoes are numerous. I’m not going there!” It was well known that the land mortgaged by the Davies family was an herbal plantation of over 1, 000 acres with only ten or so workers. Scarlet didn’t want to go to that deserted place.
Flynn frowned inexplicably and said, “What kind of herbs do they grow? I want to hoard land for real estate development!”
“Ponocord Bay is going to develop into a scenic area soon. That piece of land will appreciate several times in value overnight. How much can you earn growing herbs?”
“Really?” Scarlet’s beautiful eyes were full of surprise; she was completely stunned.
That Ponocord Bay – apart from rocks – had nothing but grassy areas; it was actually going to be developed?
After Alan’s series of operations, Scarlet already believed Flynn’s words without any doubt.
Perhaps Flynn occasionally bragged about things but when it came down Niarak-related topics he would never lie because she had seen him entering the Pearce family’s Mansion before which meant he could get some confidential information.
“Yes! I acquired 80% of the contract which means I have 800 acres while Madeline has another 200.”
“I’ve calculated that if Ponocord Bay is developed then its property value won’t be lower than Plenilune Mountain where each acre will be worth more than 500 thousand dollars.”
She was shocked again after hearing this and said, “One acre is worth 500 thousand! One thousand acres is 500 million!”
“Oh my god! The Davies family bought it for 3 million ten years ago, and you bought eighty percent of it for 17 million. Now it’s worth 400 million!”
“It has increased by dozens of times!”
“The Kaur family still has two hundred acres in their hands, which means they will earn 100 million too.”
Thinking about this, she couldn’t help but feel depressed and said with a sigh, “I should have subscribed to some shares earlier like Madeline did. Even if I only subscribed for 3 million.”
Scarlet couldn’t help but envy the importance of connections.
This kind of opportunity was hard to come by. Her cousin’s luck was really good!
Flynn remained calm on his face and said lightly, “It’s a blessing in disguise. The development plan for Ponocord Bay just came out recently. There wasn’t much news before that; we just got lucky.”
Scarlet nodded in agreement and felt relieved.
This was purely unexpected fortune; when someone gets lucky like this, nothing can stop them.
Thinking about this, she suddenly hugged Flynn tightly and looked up at him with a playful expression, “how much do you plan to give me if I manage this land?”
The fragrance filled the air.
Her soft round breasts rubbed against Flynn’s right chest and arm as she spoke.
Flynn looked at her flaming red lips so close to him along with those innocent clean eyes; he suddenly felt something harden in his body.
Flynn quickly pushed her away, or else he would have pulled out his thing if she continued!
“Ahem…” Flynn coughed lightly twice and forced himself to calm down. “I’ll give you ten percent of the company’s profits!”
Madeline had the Kaur’s Group in her hands and would also control the two hundred acres of land in the future. She definitely wouldn’t have time to manage a real estate company.
Flynn was too lazy to manage it himself, so handing it over to Scarlet was a good choice.
“Hmm! It’s settled then, no backing out! I gave you my first kiss, so you can’t cheat on me!” Scarlet pouted and swayed her body back and forth. Her loose top revealed a white floral pattern inside that made Flynn’s heart beat faster.
After hearing this, Flynn suddenly realized something and shrugged his shoulders saying, “You kissed me first that day; I didn’t ask for it.”
Scarlet became angry when she heard this and said with a pout, “You’re great in every way except for being too straightforward without any emotional intelligence!”
She turned around curiously with long fluttering eyelashes asking, “Brother-in-law, was that your first kiss too?”
Upon hearing this question, Flynn raised his eyebrows immediately refuting seriously, “How could it be possible? I lost my first kiss at sixteen years old; I don’t even know how many girlfriends I’ve had since then.”
Scarlet chuckled softly but didn’t say anything more as she turned around and went into the bathroom.
Being clever herself, she noticed the fleeting blush on Flynn’s face knowing he was lying.
Flynn sat there stunned for a moment before frowning and muttering to himself, “I thought watching celebrity photoshoots were exciting enough… but after encountering real people like her… it feels like reaching for the sky while standing tall on earth… she dares call herself an immortal fairy even while wearing loose clothing!”
Flynn savored the electrifying chill and silkiness from earlier, feeling his fingers slightly numb. He had an urge to grab something and squeeze it hard as he muttered to himself, “The old man said the young lady’s breasts are as soft as freshly steamed buns. I don’t agree. They must be water-filled balloons – softer, rounder, and smoother…”
“Ugh! What’s wrong with me? My moral compass is about to collapse… I’m such a pervert,” he scolded himself.
Just then…
“Wow! Isn’t that Callie Pearce, the eldest granddaughter of the Pearce family? I heard she was sick for five years but recently got cured by a miracle doctor!”
“I heard that too. Mayor’s daughter invited a Professor from Eahta, the successor of Crimson Dragon Needle technique. He must have been the one who cured Callie!”
“Eahta has so many talents; you can throw a stone anywhere and hit some big shot. No wonder he comes from there; it’s not surprising at all…”
Amidst their chatter and commotion, Katrina and Callie walked into Maybert Restaurant surrounded by bodyguards.
It had only been one day since everything happened but Callie already looked like any other healthy person.
She wore a light blue long dress that exuded elegance beyond compare – her skin delicate like porcelain with eyes full of tenderness that could not be described in words.
As expected from an upper-class lady; every move she made showcased her gracefulness like an ethereal fairy untainted by worldly affairs – leaving people speechless with admiration after seeing her.
“Callie, your illness is finally gone! Today we’ll celebrate properly!” Katrina held onto her hand while smiling brightly.
“Thank you so much! It’s been ages since I’ve eaten here; I missed this place.” Callie nodded before adding wistfully, “If Mr. Clark were here too… Grandpa told me not to disturb him for now or else I would’ve called him over today just to thank him.”
After hearing this, Katrina’s expression changed and she comforted her with a smile, “Mr. Pearce has booked the Fish Dragon Villa. When you fully recover, please meet Mr. Clark.”
“Judging by your condition, it should only take two or three days to fully recover. You can thank him then…”
The two powerful Niarak family daughters walked slowly up to the second floor amidst greetings from the people in the hall.
The hall fell silent once again.
Flynn called Rose three times but all of them went straight to voicemail, causing him some worry.
Soon after, Scarlet returned from the bathroom and as she approached their table a middle-aged man with pockmarked skin and a round belly came over.
“Mr. Roy!”
Scarlet quickly greeted him.
The man was none other than Justice Roy, owner of Hogstones Group.
“I’m sorry I’m late!”
He ignored Scarlet and walked over to Flynn’s side of the table with his briefcase in hand. He smirked as he said, “You must be Flynn. I brought the contract for our acquisition but we need to talk about this purchase price again.”
Flynn checked his watch; he was an hour and a half late already and now there were changes in purchase price too? He frowned as he asked, “How much?”
Justice raised an eyebrow mischievously before saying, “You won’t get away with just 4 million for this acquisition – it’ll have to be 8 million!”
