Days later
Lilly POV
It’s been five days since that bastard threw my hairpin away, and since then there hasn’t been any day that I don’t go in search of it, but the story had always remained the same as luck never shined on me. Talking about the bastard, I’ve not seen him since then. I think he has been running away from him, he better do though, because I won’t spare him if I ever get to see his damn ugly face again.
“We’re running late already, you’re not ready yet?” Nina groaned frustratingly as she came in through the entrance door with two polythene bag in her hands. I guess she went to get breakfast instead of making a simple meal. I don’t blame her though, we both are bunch of lazy ass, we’re no different from each other.
“I’m almost done.” I groaned tiredly, still sitting on the bed. I don’t feel like going to school today, I don’t just feel like, I wish I can stay back at home, but that’ll be the worst nightmare of my life, even if nobody talk about it, our PE and literature teacher will sure talk about it. The literature teacher have been on my neck for so long, stressing and scolding me, gosh! I hate that man. And as if that wasn’t enough, they employed one old man to come make our life miserable. Coach Leon just got admitted as our PE teacher about four days ago, but with the way he treats us, you would think he had been lecturing us for long. Lest I forget, we have some training shit today. The man insisted that we do some fitness shit, and today happen to be the day for basketball playing, like bro! I hate basketball with passion, of course I’m short and can’t play it, that’s why I hate it, not that there’s another reason for that.
“For goodness sake Lilly, you’ve been sitting here like the whole morning, you haven’t even brushed your teeth, let alone taking your bath, and you’re telling me you’re almost ready? I bet I won’t wait for you today.” She shrieked, and I rolled my eyes.
“Don’t yell too much, Nina, I don’t want breeze blowing you off the street when you finally get lean and starts disappearing.” I smirked at her as I stood up and dashed into the bathroom, while she huffed angrily behind me. Well, I don’t care.
Stepping into the bathroom, I stripped out of my clothes and had a quick bath before coming out to get dressed, and in less than thirty minutes, I was all dressed. Who the heck said girls spends forever, getting dressed?
“Hurry up and eat before we leave, we can’t leave without taking anything.” She said, as she arranged the food on the table, and I smiled. She’s the best sister I never had, she always got my back, just that she’s one hell of a frustration.
“Awwwn! You’re so sweet, my girl. Don’t worry in my next life, I’ll be a young handsome wealthy dude, and…” I said and paused to look at her grinning. I wanted to say something sweet, but nah! I’ll break her heart this time around.
“I’ll employ you as my maid.” I smirked at her, and she gasped.
“You!” She groaned angrily, as she picked the plastic spoon on the table and threw it at me, but I caught it skillfully, feeling like a heroine I’m not. I looked at the spoon in my hand, and my eyes widened as I snapped my head to look at the table. What! Nina actually bought an ice cream this early morning?
“Whoa… you bought an ice cream?” I smiled excitedly, as I hurried over to her, and hugged her on the chair. If I don’t do this, there’s no way she’ll let me have a taste of it today.
“Don’t push your luck Lilly, you’re not going to have a taste of this.” She huffed, as she opened her plate, and that was when I realized that she bought hot pasta for breakfast. Oh my God! This girl is so sweet, she knows I love pasta.
“Whoa! Pasta!” I exclaimed, and quickly went to sit on my spot and started devouring the food hungrily.
“Ta-da!” She said, as she brought out another two polythene bag from under the chair, then she opened it and brought out two sealed chicken from it, before serving us. Wow! It’s been a while since we last ate something this good. I’m so happy, she made my day. After we were done eating, we started licking our ice cream. Since it was still a little early, we still had some time to go to school. I scooped some of the ice cream and made to put it in my mouth, when something crossed my mind, and I stopped abruptly. Wait! I’ve been eating nonstop without asking where she got all these from. The last I remembered, we both are broke, so how come she bought all these?
“Nina…” I called, and she glanced at me. She was already done licking her ice cream and waiting for me to finish with mine so we can get going.
“Hmm?” She replied, as she hung her backpack on her shoulders, giving me a questioning look.
“How did you got money to buy all of these?” I asked, and a smile settled on her face, a suspicious smile.
“You don’t have to worry, I gat you covered best friend.” She winked at me, and I stared at her suspiciously. Something is wrong somewhere, she’s hiding something from me.
“Alright fine! Don’t give me that look please. Actually, I took the money in your safe.” She said, and my eyes widened. What! What did she just say? She took the money in my what? The spoon I was licking ice cream with, fell from my hand as my mouth dropped open. This girl have finally killed me, the money was meant for the remaining days of our semester, how could she spend it on breakfast.
“Nina!” I yelled, as I banged my hands on the table and she flinched.
“Calm down Lilly, we haven’t had a good breakfast in a while now, we…”
“Do you know that money was meant to buy us some foodstuffs for the remaining days of the semester?” I cut her off angrily, and she nodded, while having a nervous smile on her face.
“You know what! I’m off.” I said then stood up and picked my backpack before storming out of the room fuming in anger.
“Lilly I said I’m sorry.” She whined for the umpteenth time as we walked through the hallway, but I ignored her. Stepping into the classroom, I stopped abruptly as I was welcomed by the shock of my life. Sitting on my seat, is the least expected person…
