As soon as Katrina spoke, everyone turned their heads and their eyes fell on Flynn like needles.
Flynn shrugged and went downstairs to find a corner, lying diagonally on the sofa playing with his phone.
Before long, Callie slowly opened her eyes.
“Hey! You’re awake!” The Pearce family’s eyes were filled with tears.
“Callie, how do you feel?” Katrina quickly leaned over the bed and asked.
Callie forced a smile and nodded. “I’m fine.”
The whole room exploded in cheers and excitement.
“Professor Gray is truly worthy of being the heir of Crimson Dragon Needle! His technique is even better than Layla’s! I think he’s even better than Green Liniment Ghost Doctor!”
“If it weren’t for Professor Gray this time, we really wouldn’t know what to do!”
The Pearce family began to praise Jaxson’s medical skills. The Richardson father-daughter duo were so happy that they danced around as if they had been saved by their own family members.
“I’m getting closer to the position of state leader!” Travis excitedly rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
Jaxson gritted his teeth, trying to suppress his smugness as he spoke with a detached air. “I told you, this illness is a piece of cake for me. It’s not challenging at all.”
“If you had let me in this morning, the patient would be up and walking by now.”
“It’s a shame that you believed the fraudster instead of me. It’s quite disappointing. Now that Miss Pearce is better, I suppose…”
He straightened his posture and folded his arms behind him, looking even more arrogant.
Jaxson knew it was time to leave and had already anticipated what would happen next.
The Pearce family would apologize profusely and offer him 10 million dollars to dine at their estate.
But then…
“Poof!”
Callie had just sat up and taken two deep breaths when her face suddenly changed color.
She clutched her chest and coughed up a mouthful of blood before collapsing on the bed again.
This scene scared everyone out of their wits.
Blood spattered all over Jaxson’s body as he stood there in shock.
He rushed forward to examine Callie but quickly realized that her condition was very serious.
He quickly used silver needles to puncture several acupoints, but there was no response from Callie.
“What’s going on?” Jaxson panicked, and the whole room fell silent once again. Callie had awakened, but why was she back to this state after just one minute? There was no rise and fall of her chest, just a suspended breath.
“Katrina, what’s happening?” Travis’s mouth hung open, his heart pounding.
Katrina’s mind went blank, and she shook her head in shock.
“Miss Pearce’s symptoms are a bit perplexing. I… I’ll call the dean of Eahta Medical University!” Jaxson quickly took out his phone and called Dean Roman.
“Dean?” Katrina snapped out of her panic and reassured Elis, “Don’t worry, our dean is Roman, who is on par with Green Liniment Ghost Doctor.”
“He can definitely find a way to save Callie.”
“He doesn’t even need to see the patient in person. Just by hearing the symptoms, he can figure out the treatment.”
“Roman? The Medicine King!” Brandon’s body shook violently, and the light in his eyes flickered for a moment. He shook his head, disbelief in his voice, “If he is willing to help, Callie will surely be saved.”
“But I’ve heard that he has been semi-retired. Some clan heads have offered him millions, but he refuses to see them.”
“Can Professor Gray convince him?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Jaxson’s phone was answered.
He quickly introduced himself and nodded repeatedly before saying, “Oh! Okay okay, let me set up a video call right away!”
After hanging up the phone, Jaxson turned to Elis and said, “The dean owes my dad a favor. He agreed to guide me remotely on how to treat Callie.”
“Now we need a TV for the video call. Let’s go down to the living room!”
As they gathered in front of the 100-inch TV screen in the living room and connected with their remote mentor via video chat, they were greeted by an elderly man with white hair and beard.
He appeared to be in his eighties with rosy cheeks and sharp eyes that sparkled with wisdom. Katrina was moved by his presence; having spent eight years at Eahta Medical University without ever meeting Roman in person made this moment all the more special for her.
In the medical world, he was like a god-like existence.
If he gave a few pointers, even ordinary doctors could become famous physicians.
Roman was the god in Katrina’s heart, someone she had always aspired to be like!
“Tell me about the patient’s symptoms,” Roman got straight to the point.
With those words, everyone finally felt at ease.
“He is about to make his move! He and Lennon are both giants in the medical field. As long as he makes a move, he can definitely turn things around. Don’t worry, Callie can still be saved!”
“He is the dean of Eahta Medical University and enjoys national subsidies. He is also an academician of the Academy of Life Sciences! I heard that there was a terminally ill cancer patient who only had a few days left to live but he managed to cure him with three years of medicine treatment. When he went back for hospital check-ups later on, it turned out that his cancer had disappeared!”
“I once suspected that he was an immortal who descended from heaven – his skills are just too incredible! I remember reading some news about how under his acupuncture treatment, even patients with advanced-stage ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) who could only move their eyes were able to walk again within ten days!”
Katrina nodded her head in agreement and looked at Roman with admiration and reverence.
“Yes indeed – he is truly capable of bringing people back from death’s door!”
“As long as he makes a move,” she continued confidently, “there isn’t any disease that cannot be cured – mark my words!”
Everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief; Katrina wasn’t exaggerating when she said Roman was like an immortal among people. If he wanted to save someone… even Yama (the King of Hell) would have no choice but step aside!
However, after listening to Callie’s symptoms, Roman furrowed his white eyebrows and shook his head. “This illness is incurable. The patient’s breath is intermittent, and the black blood indicates that all the meridians are blocked. I am helpless.”
“Prepare for a funeral!”
Boom!
Everyone felt like their brains exploded.
They almost fainted.
If even Roman couldn’t cure this disease, then wasn’t it a death sentence?
The scene was filled with cries.
Roman frowned slightly and said, “But I know someone who can definitely help.”
“Who?” Brandon asked quickly.
“He is my master…” Roman thought for a moment before shaking his head. “Forget it! I don’t even know where he is now. Even if we contact him, he may not help.”
“That old bastard has such a weird personality that I had to beg on Demon Island for a month just to become his disciple.”
“Offer him 30 million as tuition fees; he refused!”
“I let him marry my granddaughter, even if she’s a top-tier celebrity!”
“I offered him a private mansion worth 360 million, and he still refused!”
“But guess what happened in the end! After he accidentally ate the fried rice I brought over, he agreed to take me as his apprentice without asking for anything else!”
“You’re talking about someone who sees money as nothing and women as worthless, someone who does whatever they feel like. Even if you find him, what can you do?”
Flynn was immediately unhappy after hearing this. He put his hands in his pockets and walked over to stand in front of the hundred-inch TV. His eyes narrowed slightly as he said with a smirk, “Old man, did you just call me a little bastard?”
