Chapter 838: Stepmother’s Miscarriage

Book:Mr. Burns Is Killing His Wife Published:2024-6-4

If Leland gets caught, will Winifred really not care? He was the guard dog she had painstakingly trained, and raising another fierce and loyal guard dog like him wouldn’t be easy.
Even though Winifred always mocked and looked down on him, Leland knew his place in Winifred’s heart.
The whole day of classes quickly passed, and at five in the afternoon after school, Winifred packed up and threw her bag to Leland. “I wonder if Aubrey has arrived yet.”
More than expecting Aubrey to arrive on time, Winifred was actually more eager to see that crazy woman in the mental hospital.
At this moment, Aubrey had been waiting outside the school for a while. It was peak dismissal time, and there were many people at the school gates. She couldn’t see far from her car, so she walked out and leaned against the door.
She wore a hat on her head, with a mask and sunglasses to match, making it hard for anyone to recognize her in this disguise.
Standing at the crowded school gates was quite risky, but if she didn’t take any risks, how would she ever influence Winifred?
Aubrey focused on the school gate, completely oblivious to someone slowly approaching behind her. Suddenly, a hand pushed her forcefully from behind.
Aubrey screamed, uncontrollably falling forward. She instinctively protected her abdomen, trying to cushion the fall to avoid injuring the child in her belly.
Lying on the ground, Aubrey was frightened and in pain. She thought she had accidentally bumped into someone due to the crowd before she turned around to ask the driver to quickly take her to the hospital for a check-up.
The child in her belly was the key to her entry into the Dawson family; nothing could happen to it.
“Child… save… save me…” Aubrey was so anxious that tears welled up in her eyes, but she couldn’t speak clearly and was trembling.
The hand that had pushed her from behind gripped her hair. She tried hard to protect her abdomen, and when she looked up, she saw a crazy woman she had never seen before.
For a moment, Aubrey’s mind raced with thoughts. She was pushed down maliciously, and the person wanted to harm the child in her belly. This crazy woman might have been Gregory’s former mistress, and everything that happened today was definitely arranged by Winifred.
But no matter how much she thought, before the driver could get out of the car, the crazy woman in front of her pressed her down, holding a glaring knife and stabbing it into Aubrey’s abdomen. Blood flowed down the blade.
The mad woman went into a frenzy, repeatedly chanting, “The child is gone, the child is gone…”
Aubrey stared at the knife in her abdomen, unable to even scream in pain this time, and her eyelids fluttered shut as she passed out.
With someone wielding a knife and blood spilling out, surrounded by students who had never experienced such an event, they were all scared and ran away in all directions, with constant commotion and fear that the crazy woman would randomly harm others.
The police were called, an ambulance was summoned, teachers were called, and the school security rushed over upon hearing the commotion. Chaos ensued, with everyone looking tense, except for Winifred, who stood calmly watching everything unfold from the school gate steps.
A child of four or five months was killed in the womb by someone, with a fatal blow. The child definitely wouldn’t survive; Aubrey lost too much blood. If not taken to the hospital in time, she might also be in danger.
“Tsk tsk tsk… what a good show.” Winifred raised her eyes and looked at Leland who stood beside her with a serious expression, giving him a nod of approval. “You did well.”
The crazy woman was soon stopped, but no one dared to touch Aubrey lying on the ground. The knife stuck in her swollen abdomen looked terrifying.
Someone then approached and kindly removed the mask on her face, and with the struggle from earlier, her sunglasses and hat had fallen off. As the mask was removed, she was recognized.
“I’ll be darned, isn’t this Aubrey?”
“She’s pregnant?”
“Didn’t her recent schedule say she was filming somewhere else? How is she suddenly pregnant, and whose child is it?”
“A rising female star having a secret pregnancy while married?”

Initially panicked passersby, upon seeing the injured pregnant woman was Aubrey, became more interested in capturing the sensational moment than being afraid. They took out their phones and started snapping photos to share online.
People were all commenting and speculating, and Aubrey’s fans were in disbelief. They demanded that the company issue a clarification to refute the rumors, but the company didn’t act until it became a hot search topic.
– Aubrey Miscarries –
Only then did her fans realize that the incident was real; the woman stabbed was indeed Aubrey.
There were revelations and accusations, that Aubrey had fallen victim to hidden rules, had a powerful figure behind her, and had secretly grown her belly to climb higher in status, only to be stabbed by that person’s other mistress.
So, Aubrey hadn’t hidden her marriage; she got pregnant because she was someone’s mistress.
Her innocent image was shattered overnight, turning fans into critics. Aubrey could never return to the entertainment industry again. As for whether Gregory would accept her back after the miscarriage, that was no longer in Winifred’s consideration.
Aubrey was rushed into an ambulance for emergency treatment. The situation was worse than expected; the fully formed baby was taken out, her uterus was damaged, and she might never be able to conceive again. The only consolation was that she was still alive.
But sometimes, being alive wasn’t better than no longer living, just like the crazy woman in the mental hospital.
If Aubrey woke up and couldn’t handle the shock, she might end up keeping company with the woman in the mental hospital.
Winifred had watched the whole drama unfold, cleverly eliminating a threat without anyone suspecting her.
Worried about Gregory not knowing about the incident, Winifred personally called her elderly father to inform him that his sweet little wife had been stabbed and his anticipated son had become a ghost before even being born.
After Winifred finished the call, she felt quite filial to have informed her dad promptly. He might even be able to see the deceased child when he went to the hospital.
To others, witnessing such a gory scene would be terrifying, but Winifred wasn’t afraid at all. In fact, she felt quite good and even asked the chef to prepare more food for dinner that evening. Winifred was in a good mood and invited Leland to join her for dinner.
But in the middle of their meal, Gregory returned home, looking furious. “Did you have anything to do with the school incident?” he demanded.
Putting down her utensils, Winifred wiped her mouth leisurely and replied seriously to Gregory, “Dad, who’s been badmouthing me in front of you? Why would I do something harming a pregnant woman?”
Gregory questioned further, “Then why did you ask Aubrey to pick you up from school at five o’clock today?”
Standing up to face him, Winifred explained, “I’ve never experienced the feeling of my parents picking me up from school since I was a kid. Since Miss Whitlock wants to be my stepmother, I wanted to feel in advance what it’s like to be picked up by a mother when returning home. Unfortunately, just as someone came specifically to pick me up after school, she got into trouble. Is the child in her belly okay? Four or five months along, the child should have been fully formed, right? It’s a pity. If you weren’t busy keeping so many mistresses outside, I don’t think Miss Whitlock would have gotten into such trouble.”
