Chapter 689 Finn, I Wish You to Be Poor and Destitute

Book:Mr. Burns Is Killing His Wife Published:2024-6-4

It was only after his death that he became known to people.
He was Ethan, both near and far, a remarkable figure.
His name, Ethan, was chosen to symbolize a humble gentleman, with an extraordinary and outstanding life, signifying “a stunning Ethan.”
From the meaning behind this name, one could see the high expectations Ethan’s parents had for him.
In the beginning, Mr. Johnson simply wanted Ethan to live a simple and happy life, not seeking wealth or fame, but only wishing for his safety, happiness, and health.
But as time went by, amidst the comparisons between people, he found himself raising his expectations for Ethan, always demanding him to become a certain kind of person, to be responsible, to be capable, forgetting to ask if he was happy.
Ethan studied music, debuted in the entertainment industry, and Mr. Johnson’s most frequent scolding was about his lack of progress.
Even he himself had forgotten that his initial intention was simply for his child to grow up healthy and happy.
Since when did Ethan stop being happy?
No one knew, and no one cared.
The Ethan who used to smile with dimples and a sunshine-like smile that could melt winter snow, he would never smile again.
News of Ethan’s suicide had already spread, and his works, dances performed, songs played, sung, and TV dramas acted in were all dug up.
People who knew him came out to mourn, while those who didn’t expressed regret.
Such a young person, gone just like that. After his death, everyone started to love him, to remember the good things about him, realizing belatedly how outstanding Ethan had been.
In fan groups, his fans were already crying inconsolably, unable to believe, seeking the truth, and eventually accepting the reality.
Such a tragic reality.
Ethan always kept his promises to his fans. He was famous for being fan-centric, going through fan comments, responding to them one by one. In fan meetings, he had the least number of fans, but the most signed photos prepared, staying up all night to sign thousands of artistic signatures, each with a different blessing inscribed.
There were always many signed photos left after each event, but he wasn’t discouraged. He would take them home, pack them, and send them to fans who couldn’t attend. Now, no one would’ve expected those leftover signed photos to become collector’s items.
He would share his daily life with fans in fan groups, immediately reaching out to help when fans encountered difficulties. Once, a scammer posing as his fan borrowed $100, 000 from him for a surgery, and he directly transferred the money.
Fans joked that he was foolish, his manager scolded him, but he just smiled and said, “What if it’s true? I don’t want my fans who love me to get into trouble. I will definitely help if I can.”
He always kept his promises to the fans, releasing songs as promised, trying his hand at acting in TV dramas, and his posts were full of agreements made with his fans.
His latest post was about what he had said on stage at Jackson University that day.
-“The stars are always there, and Ethan will always be there. May we not disappoint our growth and strive to be the best version of ourselves.”
This was the first time Ethan had broken a promise. The Ethan who had said he would “always be there” was gone.
Looking at the trending topic with the red explosion mark at the end, they all wished that Ethan had become famous in a different way, rather than clicking on it to see the proof of his death.
Ethan, the twenty-four-year-old Ethan who had gone to another world, surely must be happy there.
Ethan, in the next life, may your wishes be fulfilled.
Ethan, can you see it? You are famous now, you have exploded into fame.
Ethan, on the night of May 31st at 11:10 PM, the trending news about you hasn’t calmed down yet, everyone is mourning for you.
Ethan, today many people have come to know you, they want to hear you sing, listen to you play the piano, see your bold smile, see your dimples, see the stars in your eyes.
Ethan, I knew you too briefly.
He wasn’t a popular star, nor an idol superstar, his fans had just reached five million twenty thousand today, but he was the best Ethan to his fans worldwide.
He loved stars the most. Ethan, he hasn’t died, he has simply gone to embrace the stars in the sky…
May 30th was Ethan’s birthday, and it has become his memorial day, he had given himself a birthday present, the gift of “freedom.”
Heartbroken fans clung to their phones, crying heavily, tears dropping on the screen, blurring the smile of the man on it.
On the day he left, fans changed their profile pictures to gray, and when clicked on, there were only eight words.
-“Ethan, we miss you.”
With such a big piece of news, Finn saw it first, he couldn’t stop the news from spreading. When he saw this news, there was a moment when he thought he was seeing things, holding his phone for a long time before coming to his senses.
Ethan was dead? How could he die?
Though Finn was jealous to the point of wanting to kill this man, he also knew that Ethan couldn’t die, if he died, then Aoife…
As soon as Finn snapped out of it, he immediately notified North Bankshire to cut off the internet, not allowing Aoife to browse the internet or watch TV. During this time, he planned to lock Aoife at home, not letting her go to school either.
He was certain that if Aoife found out about Ethan’s death, she would go insane, she would fight him to the death, and then their relationship would truly be over.
Aoife had attempted suicide before, she didn’t want to live.
No matter how high his methods were, how much money he had in his account, or how much power he had, he couldn’t challenge the God of Death.
As Finn thought of the consequences, cold sweat broke out on his back, soaking his shirt through without him realizing it.
After the shock passed, Finn slumped exhaustedly in a chair, his head in his hands.
He couldn’t let Aoife know, he absolutely couldn’t let her know about Ethan’s death!
Aoife slept for the whole day and only woke up at nine in the evening, she lay there motionless, not because she didn’t want to move, but because her body ached too much, her head was throbbing, everything was spinning when she opened her eyes, and she wanted to throw up but held it back.
She looked at the light on the ceiling, her eyes, dark and illuminated by the light, she tried to speak, but it came out hoarse.
After moistening her throat with saliva, she feebly uttered a hum, intermittently humming “Wedding in a Dream.”
She hummed softly, every word Ethan had said to her resonating in her mind.
-“The stars are always there, and Ethan will always be there.”
Beneath her seemingly complete tranquility, her inner world was already in tatters. She was in pain, she feared loneliness, she wanted her loved one to accompany her, hug her.
The bedroom door opened, and a figure filled with suppressed emotions walked in, slowly approaching Aoife.
“Awake?” Finn asked in a hoarse voice, “Hungry?”
The soft hums from her throat abruptly stopped, she didn’t respond to Finn.
Finn looked at her parched lips, wrinkling his brow, not angry because he knew Aoife was resentful, feeling uncomfortable from within.
He changed his tone, softening his voice a bit, attempting to communicate with Aoife: “Tomorrow is your birthday, how do you want to celebrate? What birthday gift do you want, or what wish do you have, as long as I can make it happen, I’ll give it to you.”
“Wish?” Aoife stared into his eyes, her hoarse voice speaking slowly, “If birthday wishes come true, then I wish for you to lose everything, to be poor and destitute. I want all the hardships of the world to never leave you, for no one you love to genuinely care for you, for everyone you encounter to betray you, for you to be at a dead-end with no one to support you, to ask and not receive, to gain and lose again, to live in a living hell like I do.”
She finished speaking, the hatred in her eyes bursting forth.
