Chapter 243 Raising a Cat

Elisa, feeling cold and already quite drowsy, was now nestled warmly in Hamish’s embrace and had no intention of moving.
“Let’s get one thing straight, the punishment still stands. Once you’re healed, you’ll kneel and scrub the washboard,” Elisa said, looking annoyed, unaware that in Hamish’s eyes, she resembled a just-born kitten extending its claws.
“But we don’t have a washboard at home.”
Elisa earnestly considered for a moment. “Then we’ll buy a durian… Never mind, durians are too pungent. You can kneel on the remote control instead. We’ll tune it to a channel, and you’ll stay put, no channel hopping.”
“Alright,” Hamish agreed, wondering where she came up with these whims.
Turning over, Elisa nestled her face into Hamish’s chest, listening to the strong, steady rhythm of his heartbeat, gradually drifting off to sleep.
Seeing her sudden docility, Hamish felt somewhat unaccustomed. She had just been a fierce little kitten, and now she had suddenly transformed into a lamb.
Hamish held her tighter, gazing at her beautiful eyes, unable to resist planting a kiss on her lips before turning off the light, another night of sweet dreams.
The next day was Friday, a workday. Despite his injury, Hamish got up at dawn to go to work.
At the office, he emphasized two things: first, to have someone pick out a cat from the pet market, and second, to suppress all of Finn’s industries under any circumstances.

Elisa, still half-asleep, was called by Mrs. Rugger to have breakfast. Knowing about Elisa’s delicate stomach, Mrs. Rugger made sure to wake her up punctually every morning for breakfast.
Stretching lazily, Elisa mumbled a thank you to Mrs. Rugger as she brought in breakfast. Then, she struggled out of bed to freshen up.
“After breakfast, you can go back to sleep,” Mrs. Rugger said.
“Okay,” Elisa replied softly, somewhat absentmindedly eating her breakfast. “Where’s Hamish?”
“Mr. Burns has already gone to work,” Mrs. Rugger replied. Seeing no particular change in Elisa’s expression, she guessed what was going on. “Madam, have you made up with Mr. Burns since last night?”
“I suppose we have. He apologized last night.”
It wasn’t easy for Hamish to lower his head. Their few servants could all tell that Hamish had a terrible temper, so for him to apologize and bow to Elisa meant that he genuinely loved her. They all noticed his care and kindness towards Elisa.
Still groggy from lack of sleep, Elisa left most of her breakfast untouched. Mrs. Rugger cleared the table and went downstairs, while Elisa picked up her phone, skimmed the news for a while, and then, feeling drowsy again, snuggled back into bed for a nap.
She woke up naturally at eleven in the morning, changed her clothes, and as she walked to the staircase, she heard some commotion downstairs.
“How adorable!”
“What kind of cat is this?”
“What does it eat?”
“I see some cat food here, as well as canned food and dried fish. Should we feed it a little?”
“Meow~”
Understanding everything, Elisa hurried downstairs upon hearing the cat’s meow. The one Hamish had bought was a Ragdoll cat, in excellent condition, with eyes as blue as the sea. The little kitten was not at all shy, rubbing against everyone and seeking attention. It was still very young and needed to be fed with sheep’s milk, despite being as lively as can be, wobbling on its small, unsteady legs on her palms.
