Hamish carefully recalled Deacon’s face, but it was only a vague outline. He couldn’t remember his features clearly, after all, it had been fifteen years since the past.
But if Deacon was still alive, he should be around the same age as Autumn.
Could Autumn be Deacon? Once this speculation took root in his heart, it grew like a towering tree. He couldn’t ignore it even if he tried.
Autumn, Deacon. Hamish silently repeated these two names in his mind.
“Mr. Burns, what are you thinking about?”
Hamish snapped back to reality. “I need to find an opportunity to get some of his hair and have it tested at the hospital for DNA verification.”
“DNA test? Could it be that this Autumn is Hamish’s long-lost brother? But I’ve never heard of Hamish having a brother.”
“Go quickly! I want the results as soon as possible.” A strong urge in his heart compelled him to shout desperately. He wished he could know Autumn’s DNA information immediately.
Fortunately, the Burns family had always kept Deacon’s DNA information, and even though fifteen years had passed, medical technology should be able to make a comparison.
Tobias agreed and left. It would take some time to retrieve the DNA information. Hamish massaged his temples as if his brain had holes in it. Elisa appeared in his mind, followed by Autumn.
These two people… Some vague information flashed through his mind too quickly to grasp.
Soon it was time to finish work. Hamish sat in the backseat, still busy with his computer.
The South Water Island project was originally entrusted to Elisa, but now that Elisa was locked up at home, he had to assign it to someone else.
Looking at the design plans for the South Water Island amusement park, amusement park… amusement park… Hamish suddenly gripped the computer tightly. The information that had been floating in his mind for so long was finally captured.
Elisa always said that they first met sixteen years ago when he saved her at an amusement park and took her home.
But he knew for sure that he had never been to an amusement park sixteen years ago, let alone saved anyone.
Hamish’s hand holding the computer began to tremble. He stared blankly at the amusement park rendering on the screen, and some memories surged in his mind.
Sixteen years ago, Deacon came back very late. He said he had gone to the amusement park and encountered a lost Little Whiner. He carried the person back home…
So the person who saved Elisa from the very beginning was Deacon, the adopted son of the Burns family.
Elisa mistook him for Deacon, and that’s why she had been so kind to him for those six years, wanting to marry him without expecting anything in return, even if he treated her coldly. She was willing.
Because Deacon was dead, Elisa mistook him, and he enjoyed the privileges of a “dead man.”
Although Hamish knew before, while he was in the hospital, that Elisa had mistaken him, he was shocked to learn the truth today.
Thinking about this, Hamish was going crazy!
Could Autumn be Deacon, who had been missing for fifteen years? Suddenly, Hamish was afraid to investigate. Subconsciously, he took out his phone, wanting to call Tobias and ask him to withdraw the DNA investigation on Autumn.
If Autumn really was Deacon, then what should he do? Deacon had saved him, and Elisa was his wife. If one day Elisa found out that she had fallen in love with the wrong person from the start…
Hamish had never imagined that he would be caught in such a dilemma. Now all he could hope for was that Deacon had died long ago and that Autumn was just an ordinary fool.
And he could continue to play the role of the person Elisa envisioned, selfishly keeping her by his side.
Hamish felt as though his heart was being squeezed, making it hard to breathe. His face turned dark and stiff at a visible speed, and the atmosphere in the car dropped to zero.
Hamish returned to Shallow Bay and immediately the butler informed him about Elisa’s day. She hadn’t taken her medicine or eaten anything, staring out the window like she had lost her soul.
Elisa’s suicidal behavior undoubtedly struck a nerve in Hamish. He went straight to her.
“You refuse to take your medicine, refuse to eat. Elisa, are you trying to challenge me?”
