Those who don’t listen must be treated like animals, tied up and restrained. Hamish had truly regarded Elisa as a human being before, wanting to treat her well. But she didn’t know how to cherish it and insisted on challenging his limits.
He had said that if she insisted on divorcing him, she would have to bear the consequences. Hamish picked up the iron chain from the bed, a thick one as thick as a pinky finger, and quite heavy. No matter how Elisa struggled, she couldn’t break free from this chain unless she cut off her own foot.
Hamish pursed his lips slightly, a hint of malevolence flashing in his eyes. He was always a man of his word. Locking Elisa up was not just an empty threat. Elisa was too disobedient, and the only way to tame her was to use the harshest means necessary, whatever it took to break her rebelliousness.
After cleaning the room and finishing the IV drip, Hamish carried Elisa and took the elevator to the third floor, carefully placing her on the bed and tying the chain to her ankle.
……..
Elisa woke up the next day, opening her eyes and moving her stiff and sore body. A dull pain immediately spread across her forehead. She gained some clarity, looking around and realizing she wasn’t in a hospital or in North Bankshire.
Her body was weak and frail after the severe illness and injury, as if it had been disassembled and reassembled. Elisa shifted position and immediately broke out in a cold sweat. She remained on her side until she had enough strength to sit up.
As she moved, she heard the faint rustling sound from her feet. Elisa furrowed her brows and looked down, only to see a silver iron chain around her ankle. It was as thick as a pinky finger, solid iron. It seemed thin, but walking with such a long chain was extremely difficult.
Elisa’s heart tightened. She tugged at the iron chain on her ankle, trying to break it. Not only did she fail to break it, but she also scraped off a layer of skin from her ankle. She pulled on the chain and followed it with her eyes, seeing the other end tied to an iron cage at the head of the bed.
Elisa’s face darkened. Her eyes were filled with rage and hatred. It wasn’t that she hadn’t expected Hamish to tie her up, but she never thought he would act so quickly and bring her to an unfamiliar place.
She looked around, and the entire room seemed like a giant golden iron cage. Elisa wanted to live, she had hope for survival, but she didn’t want her life to be a living hell.
Elisa couldn’t even cry now. She struggled to stand up, dragging the chain attached to her ankle. The length of the chain was surprisingly “considerate.” She could get on the bed to sleep, go to the bathroom to wash up, and even go to the balcony to look at the outside scenery.
Elisa went to the bathroom, splashed cold water on her face, and wanted to look in the mirror. But the mirror on the washbasin was taken away. Apart from the mirror, there were no sharp objects in the room, as if to prevent Elisa from self-harm.
After washing up, Elisa dragged the chain back to the bed. It was only a few meters, but the weight on her feet made it extremely difficult for her to walk. She took one step at a time, dragging herself forward, as if climbing a mountain.
Her clothes had been changed, and her phone was not with her. There was no computer in the room either. Hamish had severed her communication with the outside world, cutting off her contact.
“Ah!” Elisa let out a roar, throwing the plush toys in the room onto the ground, tearing and beating them.
The noise in the room alarmed the people outside. The maid, fearing that something had happened to the person inside, hurriedly opened the door. What she saw was a floor covered in cotton paper shreds. The maid’s eyebrows twitched as she looked at Elisa. Seeing that Elisa was unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief.
“Madam, are you awake?”
Elisa’s eyes were bloodshot. She bent down to pick up the chain from the ground and asked, “Where are the keys?”
“Only Mr. Burns has the keys, we can’t unlock it,” the maid answered cautiously, keeping a close eye on Elisa. Being tied up like an animal was unbearable for anyone, but she was just a maid without the right to speak. She changed the subject, “Madam, are you hungry? I’ll bring you porridge from the kitchen downstairs.”
A cold light flickered in Elisa’s eyes. “Where is this place?”
“Shallow Bay.”
How did she end up in aplace like this? Elisa’s face turned pale, and an uncontrollable anger surged within her, impossible to extinguish.
Elisa asked, “Do you have a phone?”
The maid hesitated and said, “Madam, please don’t make things difficult for me.”
It seemed that Hamish had warned these people when he locked her up. Elisa became infuriated and closed her eyes for a moment before saying, “I don’t want a phone, and I don’t want to contact anyone else. Just make a call to Hamish so I can talk to him.”
“Well…” the maid replied cautiously, “I’ll ask the butler.”
After the maid left, a middle-aged man came upstairs with a phone in his hand. He spoke softly into the phone and, after receiving the other person’s consent, handed the phone to Elisa.
“Are you looking for me?” Hamish’s cool voice came through the phone and reached Elisa’s ears.
