Elisa’s mind was uneasy, furrowing her brow. Hamish must have already thought of this. If the videos in her possession couldn’t be used as evidence, she couldn’t think of any other way to win this lawsuit.
It was common knowledge that Hamish had cheated, but she didn’t have any intimate video photos of Hamish and Lila as evidence.
As for Hamish’s feelings for Lila, she couldn’t understand it either. If Hamish truly loved Lila, why didn’t he even give her a proper status?
“Miss Powell, there are no guaranteed victories in this world. No matter what case I take, I cannot guarantee a successful defense. I have already explained the pros and cons of this case to you. Whether to appeal or not is up to you.” The lawyer paused for a moment, suddenly thinking of something. “Also, be aware that Hamish might try to bribe the judge.”
Considering Hamish’s position in Bankshire, it wasn’t impossible, especially since Hamish never fought a battle he wasn’t confident about.
Elisa’s expression grew dim, and she became increasingly uneasy. She had already prepared for the worst outcome. What did this matter anymore?
Elisa took a bitter sip of coffee and asked hoarsely, “Mr. Riley, if the judge doesn’t grant the divorce, should I just throw myself off the courtroom?”
“This…” Mr. Riley’s eyes widened in surprise. He hadn’t expected Elisa to have such extreme thoughts.
He looked at the woman in front of him, seemingly unaffected, her face calm with a faint smile. But her eyes held a cold and resolute determination, giving people an inexplicable chill.
Mr. Riley sighed and reasoned with Elisa, “Divorce cases can be difficult or simple, but the main issue lies in property division.”
“I want to leave with nothing.”
Hamish had pushed her to the point where a woman was willing to divorce at any cost. The lawyer had handled numerous divorce cases, but this was the first time he encountered someone so determined to divorce and willing to leave with nothing.
“I will do my best to help you with the divorce.”
“Thank you. What else do you think I should prepare?”
“It would be helpful to gather more evidence, including testimonies.”
When it came to testimonies, the first person that came to Elisa’s mind was Lila. Didn’t Lila love Hamish very much? If Hamish was getting a divorce, she should be more than willing to see it happen.
After pondering for a moment, Elisa nodded. That afternoon, she signed the lawyer’s engagement letter.
“Miss Powell, I will go to the court to process the formalities.”
“Thank you for your trouble.”
Elisa stood up and watched him leave, her brow furrowed. In this world, money could make people do whatever they wanted, especially when it came to someone as wealthy and influential as Hamish.

The next day, Hamish received a court summons, which was brought downstairs by Tobias.
Tobias handed the mail to Hamish, who tore it open and glanced at its contents. His expression gradually turned cold and fierce.
Hamish sneered. Did he think he could get rid of him just by finding any lawyer?
With a menacing gaze fixed on the summons in his hand, Hamish rhythmically tapped his fingers on the desk.
The room fell silent, except for the sound of tapping. It was so quiet that one could hear the ticking of a wristwatch.
Tobias pondered for a moment and asked, “Mr. Burns, what is this…?”
“Elisa wants a divorce. Go to the court for me.”
Tobias froze. Weren’t they getting along well before? Why did they suddenly want a divorce?
No wonder Hamish had been staying in the company and hadn’t gone to the hospital these past few days.
Hamish casually tossed the summons onto the desk. He didn’t care about the means; as long as he could make Elisa obedient, he would use whatever method necessary. The more defiant Elisa became, the stronger his desire to destroy her grew.
The Burns Group had many outstanding lawyers in their legal department. Hamish instructed Tobias, “Arrange for a lawyer to come.”
Tobias instantly understood what Hamish intended to do. He sighed and walked out of the office.
The lawyer arranged by Tobias quickly arrived. This case didn’t require negotiation; whether in terms of manpower, financial resources, or power and influence, the lawyer’s chances of winning were one hundred percent.
As long as Hamish didn’t agree to the divorce, no one would dare to pass the judgment!
