Elisa’s heart plunged into an icy abyss, and her fear turned into steel needles piercing through her chest.
At that moment, she couldn’t think of anything else. She opened her mouth, wanting to tell Hamish about her pregnancy, “Hamish, you can’t treat me like this, I’m pregnant!”
However, Hamish’s eyes had already gone mad. He didn’t give Elisa a chance to finish her sentence and threw her directly from the second floor.
Her eyes widened suddenly, pupils trembling, and the last trace of clarity in her mind shattered. She heard a loud “bang!” as Elisa landed on the stairs, her body uncontrollably rolling down, her stomach repeatedly hitting the steps.
Elisa let out a piercing scream, her vision spinning, and the back of her head heavily hit the cold floor. Her gaze blurred as she glanced towards the lonely and arrogant figure upstairs: Hamish, you’re truly ruthless.
A wave of excruciating pain followed in her abdomen, as if her organs had been displaced from the impact. Elisa trembled all over, waves of throbbing pain assailing her. Broken and agonizing moans escaped her throat. Her trembling right hand rested on her abdomen, feeling that something very important was slowly slipping away.
She had planned to abort it, but why did she feel so heartbroken at the moment of losing it?
This was her child, her first child. Suddenly, a dampness spread beneath her. Elisa numbly opened her eyes, her gaze lifeless, tears flowing uncontrollably. Within moments, she was soaked as if she had been immersed in blood.
Hamish stood on the second floor, looking down at the figure below. His tightly clenched hands trembled incessantly. His brain, consumed by anger, finally regained clarity upon seeing the pool of blood.
Why was Elisa bleeding so much? Even when Lila fell from here, it wasn’t this severe.
Without time to think, Hamish rushed downstairs in a frenzy and lifted Elisa in his arms. His chest was invaded by fear, and his trembling hands were filled with dread.
The intense pain in her abdomen shattered Elisa’s last trace of consciousness. She weakly leaned against him, her face pale, her eyes devoid of life as she stared at his chin.
“Hamish,” Elisa turned her painful moans into his name, her trembling voice filled with melancholy.
She slowly opened her mouth and bit down on the clothing covering Hamish’s chest. Her throat made a grinding sound as she vomited a mouthful of blood, instantly staining his entire left chest.
The woman in his arms was covered in blood, surrounded by a strong smell of blood.
Hamish’s legs weakened, and his hand holding Elisa became as weak as noodles. He stumbled to the garage, trembling hands placing Elisa in the back seat, hastily securing her body with the seatbelt.
“Elisa, don’t fall asleep. I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Elisa couldn’t hear any sound. She felt both pain and coldness, and in a daze, she squinted her eyes, watching the swallows flying past the window.
Her hand still rested on her abdomen, wanting to feel any movement inside, but no matter how hard she tried, it was silent.
She knew the embryo in her belly was gone. The bud that hadn’t had a chance to sprout was strangled in the cradle.
Hamish sat in the driver’s seat, his right foot stiffly pressing the accelerator. After driving the car out, he quickly dialed the emergency number, ensuring that the ambulance took the designated route. Then, he stepped on the gas pedal to the maximum, honking continuously and running multiple red lights.
Hamish kept his eyes on the road ahead while stealing glances at Elisa through the rearview mirror. Her face was already pale, even whiter than paper.
Hamish felt like he was going crazy. His eyes were bloodshot, and he gritted his teeth in anger, “Elisa, what’s wrong with you? What have you been hiding from me?”
