When Hamish heard Elisa mock Lila, his face immediately darkened and he ordered, “It seems like you’re energetic enough that you don’t need anyone else taking care of you anymore. Go back to the kitchen and make some more food.”
His words were strange, as if cooking for him was her greatest honor.
“I cleaned the rooms and bought and cooked the food, so who’s taking care of who here!” The flame burning in her chest made her throat hurt. Elisa could not take it anymore and lashed out, kicking over the trash can. The red pork bone soup inside spilled all over the floor.
“Hamish, do you think I’m desperate for this? Saying you’ll have Lila come take care of me – I see this is just to satisfy your own selfish desires to see a wife and mistress in the house. I’m fed up with you!” I won’t wait on you anymore!”
After saying these harsh, sarcastic words, Elisa suddenly felt her nose grow sourer, turning her eyes red.
The only bowl of soup on the table, she had already lost her appetite for it.
Just to antagonize this wretched couple, she had spent 200 on it, such a waste.
Elisa wanted to bypass Hamish and Lila to leave the dining room and go upstairs to take her medication, but Lila foolishly insisted on blocking her way.
Her stomach hurt badly, and her already red eyes now looked as if they would start crying. Elisa quietly placed her hand on her belly, “Lila, are you blind?”
Lila timidly looked at her, appearing very afraid of her. Elisa couldn’t help but scoff coldly – other than acting pitiful, what else could she do?
Elisa barged right past her, only lightly bumping Lila’s shoulder, yet the woman fell back towards the dining table like a sheet of paper.
With a muffled bang, Lila’s head hit the edge of the table and turned red. She covered her forehead as tears instantly streamed down, a pitiful sight that would make any man’s heart ache.
Elisa looked on coldly, laughing, “Tsk, now I really see what’s meant by ‘weak and fragile’.”
Just as she finished speaking, Hamish picked Lila up. His eyes were now icy cold as he looked at Elisa.
“Elisa, seems you didn’t listen to a word I said the last two days. Bullying Lila right in front of me!”
“Which eye of yours saw me bullying her?”
Lila bit her lip and buried her face in Hamish’s embrace, occasionally letting out pained moans as if enduring tremendous agony.
Hamish softly comforted Lila while coldly berating Elisa, “Get back to your room!”
Elisa tugged at the corners of her lips and turned to go upstairs. Her stomach was upset but her mind, ears, and eyes were not.
Lila really was impressive, able to make her thoroughly lose with just a few words and one action. From Hamish’s ferocious look, he must have completely believed Lila’s words.
Her stomach hurt more and more. Climbing the stairs, the pain made Elisa’s legs go soft. She held onto the railing, panting heavily. From behind came Lila’s coquettish voice.
“Hamish, don’t be too harsh on Elisa. She’s just a little uncomfortable that I moved in, after all this is her house.”
“This house doesn’t belong to her anymore.”
Her eyes stung badly. Sweat trickled into her eyes and Elisa rubbed them. She had felt the lack of family before, and now she didn’t even have a home.
Indeed this house no longer belonged to her. Hamish wanted her to get out, with just one command.
Back in the bedroom, Elisa locked the door and went into the bathroom to vomit into the toilet. She threw up all of the pork bone soup she had just drunk, leaving a greasy discomfort in her mouth.
Elisa rinsed her mouth and took her medication, adding two more painkillers this time.
The medication would make her somewhat drowsy. Elisa lay down in bed, hugging the blanket over her head like a silkworm cocoon.
Soon, knocking sounds came from outside. Elisa shrugged and ignored it, but the sounds grew louder as the solid wood door was kicked and banged.
“Elisa, open the door!”
Elisa sat up and looked at the shaking door but still did not move.
After waiting a while without any movement inside, Hamish’s expression gradually grew impatient. “I’ll count to three. Face the consequences if you don’t come out.”
Hamish coldly began counting, “One, two, three.”
Elisa opened the door.
“Lila is hurt. You must apologize to her.”
Elisa’s eyes were sinister as she asked, “Hurt? How bad is it? I just lightly bumped her, could she have become disfigured? Or suffered internal injuries and be nearing death?”
Her face was nonchalant, but her words seemed concerned while her eyes were malicious and venomous like a snake’s.
Slap! Hamish directly slapped her, using a lot of force. Elisa was directly knocked to the ground, her face stinging where he had struck her. Without touching it she knew it was red.
Hamish’s face was black, “Do you know how to speak? Do you have to make me angry to feel happy?”
Elisa covered her cheek and suddenly smiled, “Yes, I’m happy. Seeing you get angry and take a loss makes me extremely happy.”
Seeing her smile, Hamish coldly said, “So you admit that table of food was deliberately made to provoke us.”
Elisa had to admire how quickly Hamish’s mind worked. She nodded and readily admitted, “Yes, I specifically made it to disturb you two. I know you don’t eat that kind of meat. I even know you don’t eat green onion, ginger, garlic, and especially detest eating those things.”
As Elisa spoke, she smiled, but it was a smile uglier than crying. She laughed at her own years of foolish fantasies, laughed at her own fruitless efforts, foolishness, and poor judgement of character.
“Over the past four years, I cooked you 1364 days of meals. I even know your tastes better than Lila, knowing what you like and dislike to eat.”
“I was willing to cook for you because I felt you were worth it, but now I feel you are just a piece of trash.”
“Hamish, I’m tired of cooking after 1300 days. Like I said, the Elisa who happily cooked and waited for you to come home and eat is dead!”
