Lila was stunned. She did not expect Elisa to be so sharp, directly pouring out all the dishes in front of them.
Moreover, her actions were so fast that Lila did not even have time to put down her chopsticks, and was left in an awkward position not knowing whether to put them down or not.
“You are so wasteful doing that,” Elisa smiled. “How is it wasteful? I will take these downstairs and feed the stray dogs later. The dogs will wag their tails at me after eating them.”
Lila’s expression darkened slightly. Wasn’t Elisa’s words equivalent to indirectly calling her a dog?
Hamish stood up and grabbed Elisa’s wrist: “On purpose?”
Elisa hid the coldness in her eyes and turned her face to meet Lila’s gloating face: “I’m just being considerate. Since Miss Morris said it wasn’t to your taste, I poured it out. You should let Miss Morris cook from now based on your preferences. She seems to remember them very clearly.”
She meant what she said and was sincerely giving Hamish advice. To avoid offending each other in the future, whoever wants to cook can do it themselves.
Being so close to Hamish, Elisa smelled his elegant cologne again. She used to quite like this scent and had even secretly bought it to spray in every corner of her room, self-deceptively pretending Hamish was back home.
Four years into their marriage, she spent most of her time waiting for Hamish, but the person she was waiting for never came back. She was foolish to use a bottle of cologne as comfort.
Now, the overly familiar cologne smelled even more disgusting than excrement to her.
“Besides, didn’t you tell me a few days ago that Miss Morris moved in to take care of me? My health is so poor that I really can’t stand the smell of oil fumes.”
Elisa turned her gaze to Lila’s face, which was like a palette of colors, and smiled like the lady of the house she saw on TV – magnanimous, graceful, gentle, considerate, and eager to serve the incoming maid whether she was of use or not.
Lila gritted her teeth. She was just being polite and didn’t intend to take care of her at all.
But she looked at Hamish aggrievedly, “Hamish, Miss Powell didn’t mean it. She just doesn’t know your preferences. Besides, being a young miss, she isn’t used to this. I’ll handle these things from now on.”
Elisa couldn’t achieve Lila’s level of pretending to be innocent even if she practiced for ten years. She forcefully retrieved her hand and said coldly, “You think of yourself as a dish on the table just because I cooked you a meal? Coming to someone else’s home without even a greeting but criticizing and picking faults, I guess your so-called upbringing was eaten by pigs.”
“I didn’t mean that. I know you don’t welcome me, Miss Powell, so I’ll just leave.” Lila’s eyes reddened as tears hung on her eyelashes. She glanced at Hamish and the tears started flowing, looking greatly wronged.
Hamish grabbed her and stared coldly at Elisa, his thin lips moved: “Apologize.”
“What for?” Elisa looked up, “Hamish, which part of what I said was wrong? Weren’t you the one who asked Lila to move in to take care of me? I cooked but you two didn’t like it so I poured it away. You want me to apologize for not catering to you two in everything?”
Hamish narrowed his eyes as cold glints flashed out. Elisa fearlessly glared back, indicating that there was no way she would apologize.
Behind Hamish, Lila quietly pulled his sleeve and shook her head at him: “I’m fine, don’t fight because of me.”
Her magnanimous attitude made Elisa seem overbearing in contrast. In the past, Elisa might have let it go, but now that she didn’t have long to live, why should she spend her remaining time watching this bitch’s acting?
“Lila, it would be a waste if you didn’t go act as Doraemon. With such a huge face, who do you think you are to make us fight over you?”
