Chapter 43: Scum Who Doesn’t Even Realize It

“Whether it was four years ago or now, what I said remains the same. You can only leave me when you’re dead. Looking at Elisa’s indifferent expression, Hamish’s eyes grew colder like a falcon’s. He grabbed Elisa’s hair and forcibly pulled her into his arms.
“Elisa, you better guard your heart well for me. Don’t even think about finding another man.”
Seeing his “matter-of-fact attitude”, Elisa felt a pain in her stomach. She looked up, “Hamish, you can’t even control your own heart yet you want to control mine?”
“Don’t compare me to you. I already said Lila is different, she won’t mind.”
Marriage and relationships were never related in his eyes. Just because they got married doesn’t mean he can’t treat Lila well. They can continue to live in harmony like before.
It’s not entirely baseless to say men are controlled by their lower halves. He definitely wasn’t the only one harboring feelings for two women. He could take good care of Lila while maintaining his marriage with Elisa.
Since he was still married to Elisa, he would not allow her to cheat, even emotionally, because he was OCD.
Elisa didn’t know what he was thinking, but just listening to what he said made her worldview shatter.
She had always known Hamish was scum, but didn’t realize he was scum to this extent, and was so unaware of it! Saying cheating in such a justified way, he really lived up to his reputation!
Elisa’s stomach hurt even more. Aside from the pain, she also felt cold. Even though it was spring and not very cold, she felt as if she had been thrown into the snow and chilled for a whole night. Her lips were stiff and she could barely speak.
“If Lila heard you say this, she would probably cry herself to death.”
“She won’t. Hamish looked at her, his expression more serious than ever. “I’ve already talked it through with her.”
When he told Lila all this, she did look a little crestfallen but accepted it very quickly, and didn’t find it as unacceptable as Elisa claimed.
That was why Hamish was a little confused. If Lila could accept such an arrangement, why couldn’t Elisa?
“You two really are a match made in heaven. You make me feel a little nauseous. I really am different from her,” Elisa said mockingly.
“You’ll just have to endure the nausea.” Hamish’s eyes were cold and frosty, as if wanting to freeze someone. He pulled Elisa’s hair with his hand, glaring at her ominously.
“Nothing ever happened between Lila and me. She’s just a friend to me now. After she moves here, I hope you won’t make things difficult for her. From now on, I’ll take good care of you.”
He sounded so generous, as if he was bestowing charity on her. Elisa was rendered speechless by his words, tasting the bitterness in her throat, like she had a pill stuck in there.
She bit her lower lip. Her eyes reddened, not from grief but anger. She didn’t want to waste time here untangling the messy affair between him and Lila.
Elisa forcefully pushed Hamish away. His hand was still pulling her hair, yanking at her scalp painfully like needles pricking her.
Elisa frowned, clutching her throbbing scalp. “You have a really special kind of ‘friendship’, just short of getting in bed together.”
Elisa gave a cold laugh. “Even went on dates that ended up trending online, with people praising your childhood sweetheart relationship.”
Now it was Hamish’s turn to be rendered speechless. His face held traces of hesitation as he smacked his lips but didn’t say anything.
An odd silence descended. Elisa turned away, “I’ll go tidy up a room for your sweetheart to move into.”
She had just lifted her foot to leave when she suddenly thought of something. Looking back, she asked, “Should I decorate the room according to your preferences or Lila’s?”
Hamish: “Just tidy up a room simply. I’ll sleep with you.”
Elisa ignored him. “Then I’ll go with your preferences. Lila doesn’t even mind being a secret lover her whole life. She definitely won’t mind if I’m the one preparing her bedroom.”
Her tone was so flat one couldn’t tell if she was being sarcastic.
The small villa had four bedrooms in total, all the same size. She could have given up the master bedroom that she was used to living in. But she was worried that after moving, she might accidentally walk into the wrong room and catch Hamish and Lila going at it. That would lead to big trouble.
To avoid such a situation, Elisa deliberately chose a bedroom further from the master bedroom. The house had good soundproofing. With a corridor between, even if they got up to anything at night, it wouldn’t disturb her.
