No one likes to find self-harm by liking someone who is unfaithful, two-timing, and domestically violent. Hamish could be said to have demonstrated the traits of a scumbag to the fullest extent.
A person who can separate their body and feelings will never be able to be faithful in marriage in this lifetime.
“If you don’t like me, then who do you like?”
“Who knows? After all, I’m only 23 years old. There are many men I could meet in the long future. Hamish, I gave you marriage, but don’t expect me to give you my heart as well. I’m cheap, but after so many years of being cheap, I’m tired of it too. To put it bluntly, why should I hang myself on your tree? Besides, there are others sitting under your tree as well.”
Upon hearing Elisa say so bluntly that she no longer liked him, Hamish’s face darkened, and his heart felt as if it had been stabbed by something sharp. He looked down condescendingly at Elisa’s fearless face, and suddenly it was as if he had returned to the first time they met six years ago. At that time, Elisa had been just as fearless, like a thorny rose.
The Elisa now had even sharper thorns on her than before, like a porcupine. She didn’t care at all about others’ feelings, only using her sharp thorns to injure people all over.
Hamish looked at the wedding photo they had just hung on the wall and suddenly felt the irony. He had tied Elisa to his side, but the two of them were already like strangers with their husband and wife titles.
Hamish’s expression changed slightly as he pounded the nails harder. The picture frame shook and rattled on the wall. “Elisa, I know you care about Lila’s existence, but you don’t understand what’s between her and me.”
That’s right, she didn’t understand, and she didn’t have the right to intervene either.
Yet he didn’t allow her to intervene or leave. She had never seen anyone more selfish than Hamish. Elisa was tired physically and mentally, not just physically but also the shackles on her spirit. She didn’t have the energy to argue with Hamish.
She just said, “Whether you believe it or not, I really don’t care about you and Lila anymore. Do whatever you want, I won’t throw a tantrum or get angry over it. One day if you marry her, I’ll give you a big red envelope to congratulate you.”
Elisa lowered her head so no one could see her expression. She kept her head down with her hair tucked behind her ears, revealing cheeks that were so pale they were almost abnormal.
Elisa stared at her own feet, and explained further, “We were together for so many years after all, four years. Even if it was just a toy, there’s feelings, so even if we can’t have an amicable split, let’s not become bitter enemies who destroy each other.”
“Enough!” Hamish finally couldn’t stand it and shouted out. His face was as gloomy as the foggy sky outside. He clenched the hammer in his hand and jumped down from the ladder.
Elisa looked up, her expression going from startled to frightened. Hamish looked like he was about to hit her with the hammer. She retreated backwards until her back was pressed against the wall with nowhere else to go.
Even though Hamish hadn’t touched her, she still felt like her throat was being choked.
“Elisa, I didn’t expect you to be so magnanimous, so magnanimous that you even thought about me remarrying.” Hamish’s voice was as cold as his expression.
“In this lifetime, you can only be Hamish’s woman. If you want to leave, you’ll have to die!”
The fear on Elisa’s face disappeared like dispersing clouds at his words. She tilted her head and said gently, “If you had said this on our wedding day, I definitely would have been very touched.”
No divorce, only widowhood. What beautiful wedding vows. But she really might die. She had stumbled into a scumbag in this lifetime.
