The queen was staring down through her window. The palace was as quiet as a graveyard. She stared at the king who was sleeping soundly on the bed. She has missed hearing his voice but then, he brought this upon himself.
A knock came from the door and when she gestured the person to come in, Kim answered with his head bowed down.
“Is everything OK?”
Kim raised his head to look at the the Queen, “A report came in that twelve families had lost one to two members of their families.”
“What?”
“A woman just brought her little baby here to the palace. We tried to stop her from coming inside…”
The queen didn’t let him finish before she dashed out of the room.
“I won’t leave until my son comes back to life! I won’t leave!!!” the woman screamed as she continued crying.
The guards tried to persuade her to leave but the woman was adamant.
The queen rushed to meet the woman and signaled to the guards to let her be. The moment the woman saw the queen, she rushed to meet the queen, she grabbed the queen by the hem of her dress and pleaded with her to save her son and bring him back to life.
“He is my only child. I don’t have anyone else but him. I knew what I had to go through before I can get him. Please, your majesty, please save him. I can’t let him die.”
The queen turned to Kim and whispered into his ears.
“She brought him dead.” Kim replied.
“What happened to him?”
“My husband, ate most of the food that I kept for him. He said he needed to live and that even if my child dies, we can always make more babies but if he dies, I would end up with another man and that he can’t bear to see me with someone else.” She complained. “If there was enough food in the kingdom, no one would be fighting over what to eat and I wouldn’t have lost my son.”
“I am so sorry.”
“I don’t need you to sympathize with me, your majesty, I need you to proffer solution to this problem.”
“My son…”
“Your son? Did you just say your son? Who knows if your son is alive? Who knows if he has found the girl?” She cuts in. She pointed to her dead son. “This and worse will happen if you don’t do something about it. You have no idea what’s going on in the kingdom, your majesty. People are dying; young and old, rich and poor, sick and healthy, we are all dying, your majesty. Please, please save us. We can no longer wait for the Prince’s return.”
“What’s your name?”
“My name is Julian.” The woman answered.
“Julian,” The queen called as she held the lady’s hand. “I want you to go back home and rest. I will look into this matter and I will get back to you all.”
“Are you saying that you will solve this problem?”
The queen nodded. “All I want you and everyone else to do is believe in my son and wait for him.”
“I am not the only one that has a say in this, we will hear what other people have to say about this.” The queen nodded. The lady stood up, took her dead son, bowed to the queen and left.
Queen Elise turned to Kim and told him to announce a gathering that would take place at the palace within two days.
Kim nodded and left with his guards to deliver the message to the people.
The Queen Elise went with her Chloe and one other maidens to the temple.

“I can’t find it!” Phoebe said in frustration.
“Are you sure that your mother didn’t remove it from there and hid it somewhere else?” Prince Edward asked.
“I don’t know. It’s been a while I came to her room.” Phoebe answered.
“Do you think Chad has it?” Gwen asked. “Think about it, he was sitting down on the stairs when we saw him, it can only mean one thing.”
“And what if he doesn’t have it?” Lucas asked.
“I am sure he does.”
They all decided to meet him. Chad was drinking orange juice and watching the TV when Phoebe stood in front of the TV. Chad tried to peek through but Phoebe kept making sure he didn’t see the screen. He glanced up at her and Phoebe asked him. “Where is it?”
“Where is what?” Chad asked.
“Where is the amulet, Chad? We know you are hiding it.” Gwen said behind him.
Chad turned to look at Gwen, “you too?”
“Well, since you have decided to turn your back on us, you are a suspect.” Gwen answered.
Chad stood up and started laughing. “Wait! You all think I hid the amulets?” he asked looking at the four of them.
“If you have the amulets or if you know where they are hidden, please hand them over.” The Prince told them.
Chad walked up to the Prince and glared at him. “I wish you never showed up. My family was doing perfectly fine before you showed up with your problems. Your father brought this upon himself, so let him solve this.”
“If my father could solve this by himself, I wouldn’t be here.” He tried to touch Chad but Chad pulled away from him. “Please Chad, I need to go back home and I need Phoebe as well… Please!”
Lucas was surprised to see the Prince begging but he knew he had no choice. Right now, they were at the mercy of Chad.
“Well, sorry to disappoint you but I have no idea where the amulets are or where mother has hidden them but I wish you all good luck and I hope that you find them.” He took his leave without waiting to hear their reply.
“Why don’t we search again? Who knows, we might have missed somewhere.” Gwen suggested. Everyone nodded and went to search the room again.
