Dad appears more alert than ever once he sees us inside his room. Our leader lunges forward, resembling a snake poised to strike. I instinctively step back, along with the others, all of us surprised by the absence of Tiana.
“Where is your Luna?” Our leader demands of Dad, who remains silent. Our leader narrows his eyes, glaring fiercely at Dad. “I won’t ask again. Where is your Luna?”
“I won’t reveal her whereabouts.” Dad finally retorts. “All of you will be executed tomorrow morning for attempting to assassinate the Alpha. It’s a grave offense under the laws of the Moon Goddess.”
“Who among us betrayed our plan?!” Our leader screams, prompting everyone to deny any involvement. I’m shocked but maintain my composure.
“I’ll kill all of you right here.” He threatens, turning his back to Dad to face us.
As chaos erupts in the room, I watch in shock as our leader falls to the ground. Reacting swiftly, I dodge Dad’s wolfsbane sword as he threatens to kill the rest of us. In a desperate attempt to stop him, I match his head so that it bursts.
Other members join in, aiming to attack Dad together to prevent further casualties. However, Dad proves to be more powerful than anticipated, his hands becoming more rigid.
“Shifting?” I mutter to myself, squinting my eyes in disbelief. One of the members catches my gaze and gestures for me to turn the doorknob.
Leaning against the door, I silently turn the knob, allowing the door to open carefully. I whisper to them, “Come over” as Dad continues to attack the others in the room. With Dad now focused on me, I quickly run out of the room, tapping into the unbelievable speed of my wolf instincts. Dad’s pursuit confirms my suspicions-my wolf has taken control.
With adrenaline coursing through my veins, I face Dad head-on, delivering a powerful blow to his belly with my rough and thick fingers. In retaliation, he lands a heavy blow to my neck, causing me to feel choked. Desperately, I hit my head against his, causing him to stumble to the ground.
Using all my strength, I drag his body by his feet, forcing him to stand up again. I deliver a series of punches to his face, fueled by burning anger as I watch the other members diminish in number.
As the wolf within me threatens to take control and kill them all, I know it’s time to flee. Dad slowly reverts to his human form and collapses to the ground. With a final leap, I jump over the fence and return to the forest to shift back and retrieve my clothes.
As my heart races and I catch my breath, I decide to wait for the arrival of the man who approached me earlier, ready to confront whatever comes next.
“Hey there. You’re back again. Did something bad happen?” The man asks, tapping my shoulders. Slowly rising to my feet, I lean on him for support.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you, do you have any issues at your pack house? Does your father cause problems for you?” He inquires, but something catches his attention, causing him to turn around. As he shakes my hands off, I stumble and land lightly on the ground, but I quickly grab onto him again, staring at the stranger in surprise.
“Oh, you’re back. Welcome, boss.” I greet as he approaches, kicking the old man away. Furrowing my brow, I scold him for his actions.
“He’s harmless. You shouldn’t be kicking an old man. It’s not right.” I rebuke, but he dismisses my concern.
“Why did you come here? What did you want to say?” I inquire.
“Are you upset with me?” He counters, and I’m relieved that he understands my feelings in the moment.
I nod, hoping to see some remorse reflected in his eyes, but it doesn’t materialize. We remain silent for a moment, neither of us speaking.
He embraces me tightly for a few minutes before sighing and pulling away from the hug. “I’ve finally managed to come to this world. It’s time to focus on that.” He announces.
“Wow.” I respond. “I’m finally getting an Alpha mate. How did you manage that so quickly?”
“I was merely envisioning how our reactions and moods would be if it were true.” He admits, causing my mood to shift from happiness to indifference.
“This isn’t the time for deception.” I reprimand him. “You could have spared me that.”
Just then, a dragon emerges from behind the bush, approaching us stealthily. Alex and I turn to face it, his hands resting on my shoulders as we watch the strange creature draw nearer.
“Have you committed any crimes?” He asks me. I shake my head in response, indicating no wrongdoing.
“Very well then. I think it’s time for me to leave.” He declares, breaking the tension.
Clutching onto him tightly, I grasp his shirt as if he’s a lifeline. “Go? Leave me alone in this kind of situation? You must be joking.” I protest, my voice tinged with desperation. He chuckles softly in response.
“It’s almost here. Fight it. You need to train yourself more.” He advises, his tone serious.
“Did you bring it here?” I inquire, suspicion creeping into my voice.
“No, I didn’t.” He responds before vanishing into thin air. Disappointment washes over me as I realize he’s left me to face the dragon alone. But the creature is now mere inches away from me.
Shifting into my wolf form, I attempt to evade its grasp, but the dragon manages to hold me in place. I find myself suspended between my human and wolf forms, experiencing a strange sensation of being caught between two worlds. Could this be Dad? The thought crosses my mind, recalling his demonic nature from that fateful night. This is my first time experiencing such a phenomenon, a half-shift. I chuckle nervously at the absurdity of the situation, while the dragon emits an eerie, evil chuckle, revealing its jagged, red-stained teeth.
Feeling trapped and weakened by the dragon’s touch, I struggle to break free from its grasp. Every attempt to move feels futile as its body remains as immovable as stone. The sensation of weakness overwhelms me, and I let out a deep sigh, desperate for a way out.
With a surge of determination, I attempt to shift again, finding freedom from the dragon’s grip as I transform into my full wolf form. Dodging any further attempts at capture, I flee back to the safety of the pack house, the dragon hot on my heels.
Upon landing within the pack house confines, I quickly shift back into my human form and rush to my room. Breathing heavily, I watch from the safety of my window as chaos ensues, the dragon wreaking havoc upon the pack house.
Without delay, armies emerge from a nearby corner, launching an immediate attack on the dragon, their efforts to defend the pack evident even before the Alpha becomes aware of the situation.
Dad emerges from his room, hands on hips, surveying the chaos unfolding before him with a mixture of concern and determination.
“What the fuck I have done?” He asks himself, and assumes a wicked facial expression. I chuckle at that. I want him to realize he’s killed a blue wolf indeed. And another idea rushes to my mind now. What if I go to a different pack house and claim that the Alpha there killed my mate? I wouldn’t mention that he is my father neither will I mention that my mate is a blue wolf. I discard the idea as it doesn’t befit me after thinking about it.
The dragon kills fifty out of dad’s warriors. I can see the number written boldly on its face. It looks like a programmed dragon. I see Tiana coming up to meet it as she becomes taller and more aggressive, coming into her wolf form. I bulge my eyes at that and wish I have a smart phone to picture her. I’ve never seen her shift. In fact, she looks very cool. Like a human being.
I remain in my room as I see the dragon behind my window. I greatly hope it won’t break in to my room through there. This is the only room convenient for me in this pack house. The location, safety and the structure of the room – everything I want. I walk up to the window side since it remains stagnant there. I stare at him with teary eyes.
“Please.” I say and a tear drops from my face. “Save me. Save my mate.”
And then, it curves his hands. I do not understand until I suggest it means I should come over. I shake my head. Why would I come over? I don’t want to die yet. I chuckle slightly at my thought but he keeps curving his hands. Then I run outside to go meet him. I see him still waiting for me after I reach his side and I see some people marching inside my room. I ask him who they are but it only shifts back to half human, half wolf. He can discuss with me though but he looks scary.
“What does this have to mean, who are you?” I ask.
“Do you want me to save you?” He asks. He’s got such a cool voice. I nod my head and force a smile. I follow him behind and we journey to the back of the pack house. Place of horror for developing pack houses.
“Why there?” I ask but he drags me there still. I stop him with my wolf’s energy. I grunt a bit and return back to normalcy. He touches my chest and goes down, telling me to calm down.
“A damsel, a wolf. You’re too precious to be treated this way.” He says and starts to look like a savious indeed.
“How many did you kill?” I ask, expecting that he wouldn’t want to give me an answer.
“Seventy four.” He tells me. “Only a few wolves, your tyrant dad and the soon-to-be killed Luna with James your Beta are left in the pack house. I’ll come back for y’all.”
“What did we do?” I ask.
“They killed our friend a long time ago. A blue wolf.” He says.
“Alex?” I ask. After I do, I feel like I shouldn’t have asked.
