It’s been two weeks after the all chaos the vampires caused. Everything is going on smoothly for the Blue Blood pack. Alpha Eric is much stronger than I thought him to be. He has managed to get his pack back on its feet. After the night we said goodbye to our warriors who didn’t make it through the battle, Eric called me into his house and asked me for my opinion on what he was planning. He was asking me to be part of the mining expedition. He wants my company to be part of the investors that are going to fund the construction of the gold refinery.
I was hesitant to accept his offer. I don’t want to interfere in the Blue Blood pack’s issues whether politicpoliticalnomic after all those doubts they had in me about wanting their minerals. He told me how much he trusted me. He said that I was one person he could trust when it came to any issue regardless of what it is about.
I told him what I had told him that night when he was bedridden in my house:
Don’t trust anyone, ever! Not even me.
Instead, I gave him the contacts of the investors I had talked to already. Together we scheduled the times and dates when he would meet them.
“It is fine if you are not ready to work with me yet, but I am going to leave it as an open opportunity. You can join me whenever you feel you are ready to do this,” he said, but I didn’t promise him I would.
I have organized another introduction ceremony for Arya but it is going to equally be her coronation ceremony as the Luna of the Blacktooth Guardians pack. I have therefore made it grander. I have invited all the alphas of the Five packs of the land.
This time, I have sent my disciples to bring my guests. I know we are not in threat of danger but you can never be too careful.
After this, Arya will be in with me and this will be her home. I could hardly bare living in two different packs which are miles far from each other. I have been hard seeing her. She only spent two nights with me since she went to live with her brother. I have also been occupied with a lot of work from my company’s office because of all those I spent away attending to my alpha responsibilities. There were a lot of meetings and fieldwork that was postponed plus a lot of unsatisfied investors and customers whom I had promised to fix in my schedule for that week. I had to make it up to them and work double time, I had a lot of trips. When I got time to spend with Arya, she always managed to make it difficult for me to have her, I don’t know why. I have been here and there doing this and that, for the last two weeks and never actually got time to rest.
This Saturday night, Arya will be mine officially. There will be no more excuses for not seeing her because she will be at my house. There will be no more sleepless nights because she will be there with me; my dream catcher. I can only sleep well with her in my bed.
The only thing that will be left is the dating ceremony where we get married and she will become my wife. You can call it a wedding ceremony but a mating ceremony is what we refer to it to be. It is important mainly for the certification by the state and it makes our marriage legal. That is one of the steps we as wolves have taken to become civilized creatures in society.
Heading out of the special purpose hall where the preparations have already been made, I notice that most of my guests have already arrived. The pack members have already settled in their seats and smooth music is playing in the background.
I notice Alpha Kay talking to Kurt and I head over to greet him.
“This place looks great. It is a nice decor. My luna was wondering who did the decorations so that she can hire in advance,” he says to me.
“That is going to remain confidential between me and whoever decorated. They will only do decorations for my ceremonies. I am sure my lina will want to hire in advance when she notices the great job done,” I tell him, making him laugh out loud.
“Oh, my, where are my manners?” he says, stretching out his hand to shake mine. “Congratulations upon reaching this night, alpha. Finally, you get to attend my parties with your Luna. Oh, my son is going to introduce his mate to the pack. You are invited in advance. You can tell your luna for me,” he says.
“Thank you. I will note that. Congratulations. I hope he makes you a grandfather soon,” I tell him. He chuckles.
“I am still young, son, but I wouldn’t mind some pups running around housebreaking a lot of expensive artefacts,” he says. “Anyway, I hope you are looking into that too.” He raises an eyebrow at me.
“I haven’t discussed that with Arya yet but I think it is still early. We are going too fast give it time,” I respond.
“Trust me, it can never be the right time for kids. That time when you will feel like it is the perfect timing, they won’t come,” he says with a shrug.
“No, thanks for your advice but I am still going to stick to what I have in mind,” I tell him.
Alpha Kay is the only alpha that I get along with so well, too well actually. I like his sense of humour and how he crosses swiftly from being a funny friend to being a serious father. He was the first guest on my invite list. He lightens my mood whenever I am around him.
Finally, my most important guest arrives with my luna. My heart foes a flip when she walks into the hall with her brother by her side. She looks marvellous in the designer light pink gown that goes down to cover her feet. Her long hair is in a top knot with face-framing tendrils. She looks breathtakingly beautiful. Everyone’s eyes are on her when she enters. I am transfixed in my position, paralysed and gawking mindlessly at my dashing girl.
Remembering manners, I recover from my gawk and walk to receive my guests. Katherine and Jordan come after me. Following their cue, my gamma Kurt comes after with his mate to receive their luna.
Arya’s eyes beam at me when she sees me approaching. A smile stretches on her lips. A bigger smile reflects on my face. I can’t contain the happiness within me at the moment. Holding her hand, I kiss get on the cheek, though I would have preferred to dash my lips on hers and feel her body on mine, I have to maintain my dignity in front of my subjects and my guests.
“You look stunning,” I whisper into her ear.
“And so do you, alpha,” she murmurs. I pull back and greet Alpha Eric and his luna. Katherine welcomes Arya and doesn’t make it unnecessarily emotional. Thank God!
Leading them to their designated seats, I hold Arya’s hand and I don’t let go until we reach where we are supposed to seat in front of everyone. I feel a tremble in her hand when I pull out a seat for her.
“Calm down, baby. You are doing great,” I whisper into her ear while she sits, hoping it will boast her confidence and make her feel better. She looks back at me and gives me a small nervous smile. I give her a reassuring smile before taking my seat next to her.
THE PARTY is a success. There are a good number of speeches from the council members and those of the Blue Blood pack including from Alpha Eric. Alpha Kay also gets up to give his speech. Being a lively individual, his speech is animated and keeps all the guests attentive throughout.
Finally, it is time for me to talk. I begin with acknowledging the important guests present, beginning with the Alphas and their Luna, then to their Betas and Gammas, and finally to my lovely mate.
I try to make my speech short, sticking to the status quo. After that, I invite Arya to talk to our guests and her new pack; the one she will be leading as the luna.
She is surprisingly confident when she talks. The nervous Arya that had started the party, is now replaced by my confident girl who never backs down from a challenge. I stay on the podium, by her side while she talks, hoping that it will give her more courage. She begins as if she had rehearsed the words, but later branches of saying what is really on her mind. My heart swells with pride for her.
When the formalities are done, drinks and treats are served. They open up a dance floor with a relentless DJ who rocks the music systems like he understood the assignment. Everyone gets up from their seats, to associate and talk with each other. Arya is snatched by Alpha Kay’s wife, Lillian who buries her in deep conversation. They are joined by Kurt’s wife and Ella. I watch in satisfaction from a distance.
“She looks happy,” Eric’s voice startles me out of my reverie.
“She does,” I murmur in response.
“I will miss her around the house,” he says.
“Hey, I am not stealing her away for good. I am sure she will be coming over to visit you often,” I tell him.
“I know but it won’t be the same. She has grown up under my watch, you know. When our parents left us, I was just a young teenage pup. I had just been initiated. Arya was still nine, very young. I had to be her mother and father. I thought I wouldn’t make it because I was too young for all the responsibility but Arya became my driving force. She made me hopeful. I wanted her to be proud of me. I wanted her to be the happiest child on earth. I wanted to give her everything. If father and others were here, they would have been proud of the kind of woman she has turned out to be,” he says, his voice full of emotion.
“I am sure they are very proud of you for being the best big brother to her. You did a great job,” I tell him being sincere.
“I only did my best,” he says. I give him a brotherly tap on the shoulder because we are now brothers and I know we shall get along very well.
