Logan
After breakfast, Alpha Eric and I get in my car and drive to the Blue Blood pack with Arya and Jex in the car with us. Another car is behind us where the pack’s gamma drives with Jordan. We have decided to go and check it out first before we plan for the rest of the pack to settle in.
We drive into the empty drive-through leading to the pack house which stands in wrecks.
Getting out of the vehicles, we take a look around. In bright daylight, the damage can be assessed more clearly.
We walk around observing. We meet a reconstructing team which is redoing the roof of the pack’s hall. The leader of the team comes up to meet us.
“Alpha,” he bows his head to Eric who just nods. He is dumbfounded by how much his home is a wreck. I can see Arya is in a similar condition. She is handling this much better than I thought she would. I had proposed that she stay behind with her friends or even make it up to Katherine, on her request to talk to her but, as you know; she is Arya. She refused and insisted that she had to come along. I didn’t stop her because there is no big reason why not.
“How is the work going?” I ask him.
“We have managed to repair the homes. I am sorry the pack house can’t be repaired. We just t ok demolish it and build a new one,” he responded. I nod in agreement. I had thought so too.
“We can start on that when we start on that when the homes are done. We will get where to stay in the meantime,” Eric says.
“That is a good idea,” I agree.
“Okay, we would like you to show us around how far you have gone doing the repairs,” I tell him.
“Sure, come with me,” he responds. He leads us past the pack hall to the houses with new roofs. The further we go the less damage the fire caused. As I had presumed, the property far from the pack house is undamaged.
“The residents of this area are better off. They will move in immediately and won’t find any trouble,” Eric says.
Going further, most of the homes are occupied by their owners. Those are the ones who stayed behind. I think those that ran for refuge are the ones whose homes had been attacked and put on fire. Most of the pack members ran out of their residences to come to greet their Alpha, crying with joy because very few knew that he was alive. They were all worried for their pack when they heard that their alpha had been killed, but the mere fact that he is still alive gives them hope that everything will be alright.
After taking the tour around the territory that had suffered from the attack, we head back to where our cars are packed. Our tour guide goes back to his work thereafter.
“I am going to move into my home next to the pack’s training grounds behind the rocky hills. I know it is on the outskirts and far from the capital but I have no choice. It was built to be a vacation home, that’s why us is far from the headquarters of the pack. I will be there but I know u will be able to coordinate work around the headquarters,” Eric tells me while we check on the part of the woods that was burned down. The pack warriors did a great job cleaning up.
“We are going to cremate our brothers who succumbed to the battle. I want it to be done tomorrow, so it would be better if the others came back and settled in today so that we can start making preparations for the ceremony. What they did for our pack was very important, we can’t just let them go off like that. I am planning on a ceremony, followed by burnt offerings. What do you think?”
“That seems to be the most proper thing to do. I was planning to do that myself. We can prepare it in the Oracle caves. There we can set up the altar where we will burn the offerings,” I tell him.
“The Oracle caves would be the most ideal place, but no one has been their four decades now. The last generation to use them were our grandfathers. They had a lot of faith. They used to make offerings, prayers, and rituals. Everything they did was blessed by the moon goddess. I think that is why they were very strong. They were much stronger than we can ever be,” Eric says.
“True. The last time I was compelled to go there was because Donovan was there, and I thought that he had Arya and you there but he just wanted to entrap me there and put across what he wanted,” I tell him.
“I hope this was the last time vampires cause such chaos. I am planning to set up a gold refinery as soon as I find the best investors that will help us get up-to-date machinery. We need the money for our recovery,” he tells me.
“I know the best people for that. I will connect you to some gold companies in the United States and Germany. I know they will do a good job for you,” I tell him.
“That would be great, thank you,” he says, with a nod.
We meet Arya and the others on their way from the misty river where the Blue Blood territory ends.
“The biggest pack of the woods is still intact,” Jex says, looking bright in the face. We all know how important the woods are to the werewolf’s livelihoods. That is where our wolves are free to survive, hunt, run and be themselves. The settlements can be replaced in days or a few weeks but the woofs take decades and decades to grow and become good hunting grounds. Losing them would be such a menace to the werewolf’s livelihood. They also protect us from intrusion and interference from the human world. They are such nosey creatures and they destroy every other creature around them. It would have been so difficult to survive through their urbanisation if it hadn’t been for the vast amount of words that surround the five packs in this country.
“That’s good to know,” Eric nods.
Jex and Jordan drive back home to let the Blue Blood pack members there to come back home. Eric and Leo, the pack’s grammar, get into one of Eric’s cars from the underground parking lot. Everything down there survived, including Eric’s four cars. We all drive t the vacation home that he is going to stay in so that he can show us around.
I am in my car with Arya. I haven’t talked to her for all the time we have been here. I have been with Eric the whole time and watching her from afar. We drive behind Eric’s car because they have to lead the way.
I glance sideways at her. Her eyes are focused on the car in front of us.
“Are you familiar with the house we are going to?” I ask her. She turns to look at me.
“I haven’t been there for over two years now,” she replies.
“That long? Why is that?”
“We haven’t had the time to go out on a vacation with Eric. He gets busier every single day that passes, and after finding Ella, he prefers travelling with her when he wants a vacation. I don’t blame him,” he shrugs.
“I wouldn’t blame him either. I feel like I would do the same since I am equally in his position,” I say.
“What do you mean? You are would like to travel with your mate?” she asks. I turn to look at her. I wasn’t meaning that at all.
“Is that what you want?” I inquire her.
“If that is what you want, I would love to tag along,” she says with a bright smile.
“I am not much of a traveller and neither do I ever go on vacation, but I would take you if you want.”
“Really?” she beams at me.
“Of course. I can imagine how many unique places I get to fuck you in. It could be in a lake or the ocean, “I say. Arya’s jaw drops.
“What? There is no problem with me being optimistic. I love to try new things with you,” I tell her.
“Do you have to be such a pervert? It’s supposed to be a relaxing experience,” she swats my arm playfully.
“Well, fucking you relaxes me a hundred times more than sleeping,” I shrug.
“Don’t say ‘fuck’. It sounds crude,” she frowns. I can’t help laughing at her reaction.
“It sounds more realistic to me. What would you rather I say? Make love?” I raise an eyebrow at her.
“That sounds more ethical,” she responds. I chuckle.
“There is nothing ethical in fucking… Mean making love. Whatever it is, it is just a synonym of the other,”
“I prefer hearing the latter,” she says.
“Don’t be coy, Arya. Since when are you a prude?” I ask.
“I am not a prude,” she folds her hands stubbornly in front of her chest.
“Now, don’t be mad at me. I can’t afford to be on your nerves for today. But we both know that I would fuck you throughout the vacation if we went on one. I would get us a special place where I can fuck you outdoors without shocking the ethics out of ethical people,” I tell her. She swats my arm again.
“I would rather we didn’t go on the vacation them. We can use the privacy of your bedroom,” she says.
“Oh, no, you can’t erase that from my mind now. It’s too late to change my mind,” I tell her. “I know you would love it. You don’t have to admit it.”
She just rolls her eyes. I know she wouldn’t admit it.
The vacation house is a two-story building, pretty old but perfect in shape. There is an old housekeeper. She is human.
She welcomes us quickly and asks if we want anything to eat or drink. Arya asks for some water but the rest of us are fine. We sat in the house and talk for almost an hour. Arya went upstairs to check on her room.
I get to learn that their parents are the ones who uuseusedbring them here often when they were still pups.
After that, we head back to the pack headquarters where the pack members have started to arrive and settle into their homes, and Ella is one of them. She has escorted some heavy mothers and she is supporting one of them to walk. She is such an involved and responsible Luna. I know that she was not from this pack originally. She came from the Red mountain ack but as the Luna, she embraced this pack and it became her own.
I get a strong urge to enthrone Arya in her position of the luna of the Blacktooth Guardians seeing this. The introduction ceremony never even happened. I need to plan all this afresh.
When it is finally time for me to leave, Arya doesn’t seem to pay me any attention. She went off with the Luna to give her a hand. It is starting to get late and the sun is setting. I want to go back home with her. I know that is selfish of me because she probably wants to stay behind and help her pack. I need to find her and say goodbye, nonetheless.
She comes out of one of the houses she had gone in with a nursing mother and rubs her hands on her jeans. I lean against a tree in the front yard while I wait for her.
“You look to have been busy. I am not going to say sorry for interrupting,” I tell her.
“Neither did I expect you to? The mother in there has been widowed. She needs someone,” she says pressing her body on mine, pushing me against the tree.
“I am going home,” I tell her.
“I see,” she says.
“I wanted you to come with me,” I say, her lips stretching into a shy smile. “But you may be more wanted here for more ethical reasons,” she swats my chest.
“You don’t have to tease me about that.”
“I know, but I love teasing you, that’s why I might not stop any time soon,” I tell her, before leaning down to kiss her on the lips. She moans and wraps her arms around my neck to bring me closer so that she can kiss me back. Just kissing her gets my body begging to have her right now.
“Can’t I just steal you away and take you? I will bring you back early in the morning. They might not notice that you are missing,” he whispers against her lips. She grins at me.
“I am sure you will be fine without me. I will see you tomorrow at the cremation ceremony. You will come, right?” she asks.
“I will, but it would be unethical to fuck you after such a sorrowful ceremony, don’t you think?” She giggles and then bites her lip. I kiss her once more, hoping it will be enough to take me through the night without her.
Pulling away from the embrace, Arya smoothes her hair from her face.
“If I stay close to you, I will end up sneaking away with you, but I know I have got to stay,” she says.
“Good night, Logan.”
“Good night, Arya,” I respond. She quickly turns and walks back into the house without giving me a chance to say any more.
