Logan
Cole and I move along the road toward Blue Moon pack while Jordan and the rest continue through the woods. We survey the road, using our heightened sense of smell. There are a few vehicles on the
road, no sign of Arya and the others.
My hopes keep getting thinner and thinner the nearer I get to the pack’s headquarters.
We land on two headless bodies. They are for werewolves. There is a pool of blood around them and then trails of blood leading into the woods on the other side of the road. I follow the try, sniffing about for any familiar scent. Crossing over to the other side, we find the heads and three other beheaded wolves. That is when it hits me that this is happening. That Arya and her entire family are in great danger if they are still alive. God! I pray that they are still alive. She is still alive, or I would have felt it. That’s what connected us in the mate bond when we marked each other. At very critical times, we can feel each other’s emotions.
“Over here, Alpha!” Cole calls me through the mind link. Moving towards him, I move past a car door. Deeper into the woods there is an overturned car. Running to it, I find it empty. A strong surge of relief washes over me. When I look closely, there is a dead body. It is for a human. He is covered in broken glass and his face is mutilated by all the wounds.
Why did they have to kill this innocent human? He obviously had nothing to do with them.
We sniff around the scene but we lose track of the leads.
“We should head for the vampires’ residence. Perhaps there have taken them there. We can’t trace any scent and there are no leads,” Cole says after we look around the whole area. We have no choice.
We run through the woods, towards the White Mountain where the vampire’s territory is. I can only pray that Arya is there and safe.
The distance is a long one to the White Mountain. We make it to the vampire residence in about half an hour. The distance is longer through the woods. We couldn’t through the tow because it would just cause havoc in the human world, and the last thing I want is to get ourselves unnecessary attention.
The vampires have an old stone building, very tall and big, it towers on the mountain. There are other buildings around it. It is like an abandoned settlement. It is cold and lifeless. Vampires hardly own anything. The only thing they ever live for is sucking blood from their unlucky victims. They have just started to embrace civilisation. The only thing they are chasing now is wealth nothing they want other than wealth, wealth because it comes with power. They actually don’t need the wealth. They merely want the power that comes with it.
I hope she is in there. I wonder how Jordan and his team are doing. Did the vampires attack the pack? Has Kurt managed to get the backup forces? I shake off the thoughts and decide to focus on the task at hand. I trust each one of them.
I give out a deep and loud earth-shattering howl, aiming at whoever is in there. My warriors howl with me. If Arya is in there, I want her to feel assured, that I have come to save her, and there is no way I am leaving without her.
We swam into the main building, crashing whatever was in our way. The whole place smells like vampires, but I don’t catch the scent of Arya or Eric. It is clear that they might not be here. I howl again so calling out for anyone in here.
When no one comes out, I summon my warriors to search the entire place thoroughly. They don’t find any living soul in the entire place.
What! The whole clan went altogether for this conquest? Where on earth did they take my mate?
The Blue Blood pack!
Maybe they took them back, but that wouldn’t make sense. Since it is our only option left, we head back down the mountain after making sure there isn’t anyone in the entire area.
We meet Elliot, the messenger that had been sent to get us back up. The Red Mountain pack has sent us a big army of wolf warriors. I am immensely indebted to Alpha Dan.
Together, we head to the Blue Blood pack. With this big army, I have more courage to lead them in this battle.
The first thing that welcomes us wails then a smell of blood in the air when we cross the misty river. The closer we get, the smell of smoke gets stronger.
The part of the woods next to the pack’s headquarters is on fire. I know how ruthlessly the vampires fight their wars. They destroy anything they come across, human, animal, plant, asset, anything… And it seems that’s what is happening. We run up the hill toward the flames. We run into wolves running to our side. Their coats are covered in blood and are damaged with wounds. One, that looks like the leader, shifts immediately. It’s that prick! The mother-fucker that wants my woman.
“Alpha, Logan! We were coming to your territory. We have to hurry, the vampires are destroying everything!” he cries out. For the moment, my anger toward him was subdued.
I want to ask about Arya if she is there and if she is alive, but it’s not a good time. I chose to rely on the seemingly empty promise that Donovan made to me about keeping her alive.
Joining them, we enter the flames. We bypass headless lifeless wolf bodies and others in their human form. The vampires’ bodies are scarce. It is so fucking hard to kill a vampire!
A head of a vampire flies over to me and lands directly in front of me. Chestnut brown hair, savage red eyes, and white skin. It’s female.
Looking up, It is my beta’s wolf, his grey coat stained with blood and his muzzle dripping with it. There is a stiff female body in front of him.
I have never been more proud of my beta.
The situation is worse than I could have ever thought.
“Kurt has already arrived with the warriors of Midnight Howler’s pack,” Jordan communicates through the mind link. “The vampires have set the pack house on flames, and that is where they had hidden the weak members of the pack. They are taking them to our pack’s territory through the Rocky Hills.”
“Where is Donovan?” I inquire, trying not to make it all about Arya.
“I have not seen him yet but the vampires here are so many and they are just killing all life,” he responds.
Donovan, you lifeless hog!
When I land on my first vampire victim, I leave all his limbs in different places, away from his body and his head mutilated. I can not how much abhorrence I feel toward vampires right now.
By the time I make it to the pack house, I have beheaded ten vampires. I guess they are coming to me intentionally after identifying who I am. I realize I need to mask my scent.
The pack members are trying to extinguish the fire but a lot of things have been damaged. I stare hopelessly into the fire.
If Donovan didn’t bring Arya here, then where could they be? I can’t even think of any other place. For a moment, I wish we had left the Vampire residence on fire. Those egoistic idiots.
Could they have gone there now?
Moon Goddess, I pray, please give me the wisdom. I have never prayed for all my life but the moon goddess has been with me all this time. I need the almighty’s hand in this.
I promise, if we win this battle, I will make an offering, a sacrifice, whatever you want.
“Alpha!” Kurt’s voice cuts through my reverie. Startled, I look up. The blade reflects flames as it comes down on me. In a pounce, Kurt throws the blade flying in the air, and the two bodies fall down with a heavy thud. The vampire quickly regains balance and swiftly gets up, his fangs elongating, directed at Kurt’s neck. I jump onto the vampire’s neck, dislocating his head with a crack of bones. Kurt gets up and pulls the head off the neck. Cold blood spills all over our fur, but we don’t mind.
I clean my muzzle with my paw and gaze into my Gamma’s eyes. I regret doubting his loyalty after saving me.
“Alpha, we have found leads to where Donovan could have taken Alpha Eric and the Luna,” he says, through the mind link.
“Where?” I demand.
“The Oracle caves,” he responds.
The Oracle caves?
Why the Oracle caves of all places?
“Let’s go there now!” I command.
“Yes, Alpha!” his response is firm.
I give out a howl, calling out all my warriors. They come running to where I am. They look savage, blood coated, but deep into their eyes, I can see the pack spirit. That’s what we are all taught as pups and we grow up as patriotic members of the blacktooth Guardians pack.
This is our war. It is the Blacktooth Guardian’s luna we are fighting for.
“We are heading to the Oracle Caves right now,” I tell them. “Kurt, you will stay here with the Blue Blood warriors and take care of everything here!”
“Yes, Alpha. There aren’t many vampires left. Most have fled. We can deal with the situation here, Alpha,” Kurt assures me.
“Good. The pack members that are being taken to our pack, Jordan, take some of the warriors with you and follow them. Make sure they make it safely,” I command.
“Yes, Alpha!” he responds his voice firm.
“Cole and I are going with the rest to the Oracle Caves,” I conclude.
Jordan gives a commanding bark at the army he came with and we responsive barking, they all follow him into the woods.
I turn to face Cole who has a deep wound cut on his back.
“Maybe you should stay here with Kurt, that wound looks very deep,” I tell him.
“No, Alpha. It is not that bad. I can make it with you,” he responds with reassurance.
“I insist, Cole. I know how much you want to save your Luna but I also don’t want to lose you. Stay. This is an order from your Alpha,” I tell him.
“Yes, Alpha,” he says, and bows his head.
“Please bring her and Alpha back. Donovan can not win this. He doesn’t deserve the victory.”
“We shall do our best,” I promise him. That’s what I also hope for.
Commanding the rest of the warriors, we run through the wrecked houses surrounding the pack house. On the entry to the woods which are still in flames, Jex’s wolf stands looking at me. He shifts, he has cuts all over his chest and legs.
“I am going with you,” he says.
“No, you have to stay here. We are going to be able to handle this. Your pack needs you now,” I reply.
“I want to and I insist. There is no pack without our leaders. I am going,” looks like he wasn’t asking for permission. Despite not liking him, he has sustained a lot of wounds and it will be so hard for him to run to the Oracle caves and still be able to fight, but since he doesn’t want to know, I ignore it. He shifts into his wolf with a heavy growl. It must be so painful to shift with all those wounds. His brown wolf stares at mine. We don’t gave the time for this. Joining us, together we head in the direction of the moon which leads to the Oracle caves.
