Amy whispered her thanks and then picked up the corkscrew, arranged the crystal decanters, and squatted next to the coffee table, focusing on opening the wine.
Her long, curly hair almost touched the carpet, and suddenly, a woman’s coquettish laughter echoed. The bright coffee table reflected two figures leaning against each other, the woman already falling into Lucas’s embrace.
Amy thought her luck was really terrible, encountering a fraudster like Neil first and then someone like Lucas, a playboy.
The corkscrew with silver inlay was a bit uncomfortable in her hands. She spent some effort, finally opening all the bottles.
“Please enjoy.”
Standing up, she nodded to Naylor and prepared to leave. The bill would be collected at the front desk, and she only needed to settle it after work.
“Amy, slow down, sit down and have a drink… I mean, introduce these good wines you recommended to us.”
Naylor called her back again.
Amy couldn’t remember when she had seen this person, but he was a generous client. If she left abruptly, causing a return of goods, it would be troublesome. She turned back, took out one of the bottles, and began introducing it. Her voice was soft and sweet, like melting sugar that could intoxicate a man’s ears.
At the end, she whispered a sentence in French, drowned out by the music, unheard by anyone. She looked up, and Naylor was leaning on his chin, smiling at her. Lucas, sitting in the corner, was hidden in the dim light, his expression unclear.
“Amy’s voice is truly wonderful.”
Naylor suddenly applauded, looking at Amy with a sly smile. Amy blushed, placing the wine down and nodding at him before preparing to leave.
“Hey, Amy, I’ve got your tab. Come, sit down and have a few drinks. Naylor rarely shows such enthusiasm towards women. Come, prove to us that this guy doesn’t like men.”
Two other men glanced at Naylor, smiling as they approached, blocking her from leaving.
“I…” Amy couldn’t help but glance at Lucas again, but she still couldn’t discern his expression.
Amy thought, what’s going on? Does he want to act like we don’t know each other?
If that’s the case, forget it. Who knows what kind of person he is! Even if he wants to play games, a one-night stand should be clear, not hindering her chances of getting married in the future… Is he acting like he’s James Bond?
Feeling a bit stubborn, the two men pushed Naylor towards her, squeezing them together.
“Naylor, don’t be so reserved in front of a beauty. Come on, show some enthusiasm.”
“Alright, don’t scare Amy.” Naylor still smiled, his eyebrows and eyes relaxing. Suddenly, he leaned over, whispering to Amy, “Help me out, I don’t like this kind of socializing. When you insist on leaving later, I’ll say I’m escorting you.”
“You’re… 912!”
A flash of white light suddenly appeared in Amy’s mind. She turned her head abruptly, but before she could turn away, her lips brushed against his cheek!
Amy became even more embarrassed and quickly moved away a bit.
“Come on, singing is meaningless; let’s play a game.”
A man holding a wine glass stood up and drank it all in one gulp. The taste of foreign liquor pervaded the air, and just a whiff was enough to make people intoxicated.
“Mr. Varley, what game are we playing?”
The woman sitting next to Lucas asked softly.
“Haha, Lucas will definitely love this game. It’s called… the loser has to let me kiss them!”
The man named Varley put down his wine glass, snapped his fingers, and grabbed the woman beside him. He pulled her towards him, holding her head, and planted a deep kiss. Lips and teeth entangled, making an indescribable slippery sound.
The two were right in front of Amy, and feeling uncomfortable, she turned her face away. Naylor lifted his leg and kicked the man.
“Jonathan Varley, if you continue to be shameless, I won’t be polite. Don’t ruin Amy’s eyes.”
“Ha… haha…” Jonathan pointed at him, not expressing any dissatisfaction, just waving his hand and saying loudly, “The rules of the game: when the lights go out, whoever you’re hugging, you have to kiss. Men can’t be spared either.”
“I’m leaving.” Amy immediately stood up.
“Don’t go, Amy, show some work attitude.” Jonathan stopped her, completely unable to communicate normally due to his intoxication.
Naylor gently pulled Amy’s hem and smiled, saying, “Don’t be afraid; watch how I deal with them.”
Just as he was speaking, the lights suddenly went out, and no one knew who turned them off so quickly.
Amy’s heart tightened, hearing consecutive giggles from women, followed by the slippery sounds of lips and tongues. She quickly stood up, swiftly moving towards the left wall, planning to slip away along the wall.
When she entered, she saw a tall potted plant in the corner. In a few steps, she slipped behind the plant.
The green leaves on the plant smelled of alcohol; she wrinkled her nose and pressed against the wall, moving forward…
