Chapter 13

Book:Flash Marriage with A Perfect Match Published:2024-6-4

After a few days of discomfort, Amy regained her composure. Regardless of Lucas’s motives, whether he just wanted to play around or had other intentions, life had to go on. She needed to pull herself together, at least to reclaim the memories her father had left her, even if the cost was somewhat unbearable.
With her curly hair cascading down to her waist, Amy stood barefoot on the balcony, watching the sunset with big gulps of instant noodles.
In the past month, she had interviewed with nineteen companies, all resulting in polite rejections. Despite her work experience at the Green Corporation, she felt that she had only enjoyed a cushy job with Neil’s support.
But this time, although Lucas provided her with a house and a car, he didn’t give her any cash. After returning home for two days, she found herself in a predicament. Lucy White sent her 1, 000 dollars. If she didn’t find a job soon, she would run out of resources.
She finished the last sip of soup, and her phone rang. Wiping her mouth, she inelegantly fished her phone out of the pocket of her jeans.
“Amy, there’s a job for you. Are you interested?”
“What job?” Amy’s excitement surged.
“It’s temporary and demanding,” Lucy warned.
“I’ll take it.”
“I have a friend in the liquor business. Her company is hosting a promotion at Vivi Club tonight, and they are short-staffed. Your task is to distribute three hundred bottles of beer and twenty bottles of red wine. You get to keep any extra money you make.”
“Great, I’ll be there on time,” Amy eagerly agreed.
As long as there was income, she could survive a little longer. The harshness of life had taught the fallen heiress to fend for herself, at least for the time being.
“Wear something nice. It starts at 10:30 tonight at Vivi Club. Just mention my name when you arrive.” Lucy relayed a phone number and then hung up.
Amy glanced at her watch; it was only six o’clock. She still had time to soak her feet properly. After a day of walking outside, blisters had formed on her feet. Given the tough job market this year, she knew she had to put in more effort to regain control of ‘the Green’ in the future.
Vivi Club was a well-known gathering place for the city’s stylish gentlemen. In this venue, money could buy entertainment. Opening any door to a private room, you would witness passionate performances and couples embracing each other.
After promoting beer for over an hour, Amy managed to sell only thirty bottles. Her colleagues were more skilled, aggressively and accurately grabbing orders. Feeling a bit disheartened, she took a short break in the corridor. Then, pushing her cart, she knocked on the door of the next private room. In the dim light, men and women were gathered, playing dice.
“May I ask if you need a few bottles of wine?” She picked up a bottle of beer and asked the person closest to the door. As the person raised their eyes, Amy’s smile faded away.
This was the most luxurious and extravagant room in the entire Vivi Club.
In the center of the room was a crescent-shaped, soft genuine leather sofa, surrounded by four men and six women. Amy, bathed in the warm and hazy light, gazed at Lucas’s face.
He held a wine glass, with a young and charming girl sitting beside him. The girl’s fingers, adorned with a particularly large ruby ring, lightly rested on Lucas’s shoulder.
After a month, he suddenly appeared again, and it was in such a setting.
Amy’s mind exploded, unsure of how to react. Should she pretend not to know him? Should she address him as Mr. Smith or maybe even as her husband?
“Sir, do you need us to open a few bottles of wine?” Her hand froze for a few seconds before placing the beer down and retrieving two expensive foreign wines from her cart, looking at him expressionlessly.
Lucas’s lips gradually curved upward as he set down his crystal wine glass. “Hey, Amy, do you still remember me?”
Before Lucas spoke, another man sitting on the other end of the sofa interrupted, “I say, Naylor Atlante, you are shameless. This way of hooking up, damn, it’s too outdated!”
Naylor also laughed, stood up, and walked towards Amy. Lowering his eyes, he looked at the wine in her cart and pointed to those expensive red wines, saying, “Open them all.”
There were thirty bottles of wine here, each costing thousands!
Amy kindly reminded him, “Sir, you won’t be able to finish so much.”
“Haha, this girl is quite honest. It’s okay; he likes to bathe in a mixed bath of wine and beauties.” Laughter erupted among everyone.
“Hehe, it’s fine, and if we can’t finish, I’ll keep them here.” Naylor smiled, revealing his white teeth, quite handsome.
