Somewhere in a part of the town was this popular family who didn’t bother about the news. In fact, it was the least of their worries. That was the Landers family. The only thing that was set to bother Daisy and Ivan was what her mother had to say. Grandfather had informed them earlier that Lily wanted to speak to them that day.
Seated in the living room, Daisy waited almost impatiently for her mother to speak but the latter didn’t seem she was interested in saying anything in a hurry. Providence heard her when her mother cleared her throat and began.
“Daisy, as you requested, I’ll tell you nothing but the truth about all you need to know of your background.”
“Anderson used to be nice and caring but he changed when I told him I was pregnant for him. I had so much hope in our future together but it turned out that he was having an affair with another woman! I tried to mend the relationship but it was in vain. He saw my love for him and capitalized on it. He took loans in my name to build his company. He told me to my face that I meant nothing to him. I was heart broken but I am a Landers and I had to be strong. I wanted to just move on, take away the baby but I could not bring myself to do that. You were my joy, my peace and the only thing that reminded me of my sweet relationship of four years. I finally resolved to keep you, thinking that he was going to change his mind after your birth. But how stupid I was. When I had you, I quickly told him with enthusiasm that he had a healthy baby. Little did I know he had ulterior motives. I don’t know who gave him the advice, maybe the other woman or what. I just don’t know but he started making plans to sell you to some traffickers. I only found out when they came to abduct you. All thanks to your father, the plan failed but he didn’t stop there. He swore to get rid of that bastard child I had. He said that if he didn’t do it then, he would do it in the future. And he meant it. He kept doing more and he did all sorts of things that I don’t even want to talk about just to get rid of you until I couldn’t take it anymore. I vowed to make him pay for causing me and my innocent child pain. You escaped death as a child on five different occasions and that was when I went mad. The last one almost got you and I decided to put him in his place. He travelled to Italy and I followed. I meant to kill him quietly but luck was against me. The rest is history. Daisy, I killed your father because you suffered so much as a child, even when you didn’t deserve it. If I didn’t end his life, I’m sure you would be in the world of the dead by now, or you will be living a miserable life in his hands and I didn’t want that. He was getting powerful by the day and he flexed his muscles on his little daughter and her mother. I’m sorry, I’m sorry you grew up without a father and a mother too. I thought I could solve the problem on my own, I didn’t think I’ll complicate it and end up in prison. I’m sorry, forgive me,” Lily finished and let the tears flow from her face.
Daisy was touched. She held her mother closely and wept too.
“Don’t cry mummy. Don’t cry.”
Maybe her father wasn’t a true father after all.
Ethan sat on the floor like a drenched bird. He was yet to recover from the shock of what Easton told him. As soon as he finished doing what Easton asked him to do, he was thrown out of the picture, company and his house as well like a common begger.
“Why did I go to him for help in the beginning?” he kept blaming himself. The offer looked all lovely and yummy. He knew the only person he was in serious competition with was Easton and his father. To him, Nathan was a piece of cake and he could put him in his place anytime he wanted to. He got closer to Easton and they reached an agreement. He would let him, Ethan, be the CEO of the company while in return, he would give him a certain percentage and rights on the company.
Easton looked at this ambitious youth, with zeal and enthusiasm to become the CEO and he decided to use him to his own benefit. After all, he was an ass and deserved nothing good.
“He’s just a common man,” he snorted. He had wanted to overlook the request and treat it as unimportant but Ethan kept coming back and he was forced to give him a listening ear. The young man promised to do anything as long as it would keep him on his high horse, as the CEO and owner of Jace group.
Easton gave him two simple tasks and he was done with them in no time. Easton admired his courage and because he was still the king of the other powers, he decided to make good use of him.
“Ha ha ha ha!” Easton laughed when he remembered the look on Ethan’s face as he announced his dismissal the him. He made it clear that he had no use for any servant who would sell their master very easily as long as it brought more dollars. Nothing bothered Ethan the way the current situation did. All he wanted was the company. His mother wasn’t aware of the outcome of the meeting with Easton. She was only waiting for the right time when her presence in the Startford family would be made legal!
The same way Ethan was worried was the same way Nelly was. This company was all her father left her. It was her priority, her father built it, lived for it and died for it. She must keep the legacy going and the possession and control company must not get out of the Stratford family. She was determined not to rest, never to give up until she sorted out everything and made sure all that had a hand in her father’s death was given a taste of their own medicine.
