Nelly was so lucky that Neuer was quick enough to catch her. Everything happened so fast. Even Amanda didn’t see the build up to anything that happened. All she saw when she turned was Neuer holding Nelly.
“Ahem!” Amanda cleared her throat. It was like Neuer was planning on holding Nelly like that forever. He was lost in his stares into her eyes. Wow! He must have thought her to be very beautiful and charming.
It was after Amanda cleared her throat that Neuer had to gently pull Nelly up, take his hands off her waist and finally, he let her go.
“Thank you, Sir…thank you so much. I can’t start to imagine…”
“Shh! You do not have to thank me for anything. I think you really need to eat something now.”
Amanda had a funny type of attitude, or would I say behavior. She stared at Neuer in shock. Why?
He was the same person who was yelling at and attacking them the last few days. Now he is saying all of these? Did Mrs. Sandra have him undergo a surgery on his brain? The change was just too rapid. It was good to be true, but he was being sincere.
After Neuer had bought the meal, Amanda had to get back to work while Nelly stayed at the cafeteria, eating with Neuer.
“I’d like to apologize for the way I treated you and your friend the very first time we met and also for what I said the previous time.”
Nelly looked at Neuer –
“I was never offended by what you said or did, Sir. If you feel like apologizing, maybe you should apologize to my friend, Amanda. By the way, thank you for your generosity.”
The way Nelly spoke, the charisma in her eyes and the calmness of her voice was intriguing to Neuer. He liked it, or maybe more, he loved it.
“When did you get to Germany?” Neuer asked her. He was now trying to get to know her, Nelly perceived.
“That should be about two months ago,” Nelly answered.
“You have a boyfriend with you or your husband?” Neuer asked, judging from her pregnancy. He thought that Nelly was married.
“I don’t, I came alone. I do not have any of those you mentioned.”
That was enough about Nelly. Neuer noticed that she was getting uncomfortable with his questions, so he decided to stop. Nelly appreciated the kind gesture. She was relieved she didn’t have to tell him herself.
“I never see you here in the studio. In fact, I never started seeing you until the last four days. Why?” Nelly asked.
“That’s because I do not work here. I only drop by to help my sister and her crew edit videos and also to coach the actors.”
Nelly wanted to ask what he does, like for a living but she decided not to go there. He was going to have to tell her himself if he felt okay with it. Or maybe she’ll ask him some other time.
“Actually, I’m a neurosurgeon. I’m on leave for now, so I decided to help my sister out. That’s what I always do.”
Nelly was very impressed after she discovered he was multi – talented. She was more thrilled when he told her he possessed some acting skills.
“I’d love to go back to working on screen one day, probably after I’m retired because my job won’t let me do so now.”
“That would be very sad,” Nelly said.
“Why?” Neuer asked.
“The audience won’t get the opportunity to see your peak beauty.”
Neuer was flattered. “Are you trying to say I’m cute?” He asked Nelly.
“No, no. I was just trying to describe how…”
“Thank you, Nelly.”
They were done eating and Nelly had to get back to work even though Neuer told her not to. He wanted her to go home and rest.
“You can return tomorrow when you feel better and stronger. I’ll even drop you off at home if you don’t mind.,” Neuer had told Nelly but she insisted that she was okay and could continue.
Neuer had no other choice than to let her continue, he could not force her to go home with him.
When Nelly got back from work, she met Amon sitting outside. She wasn’t sure what he was waiting for so she decided to approach him.
“Hey, there.” Nelly greeted him.
Amon immediately stood up from his chair and walked towards Nelly. Without warning, he hugged her.
“Nelly, how are you doing today?”
Nelly was shocked. She could not even respond to his question the first time he asked. She was just staring at him, probably wondering why he had to hug her. It was so unexpected.
“I’m sorry if I just hugged you like that. I’ve been dialing your number and it wasn’t reachable. I thought something bad might have happened.”
Nelly smiled to show him she appreciated his concern. Apart from Amanda, and maybe, Sandra, Nelly had not had anyone that cared so much for her since she came to Munich, Germany. It was nice to know that someone apart from these two actually cared for her. She explained to him that her phone was turned off because she needed it that way. She didn’t have many contacts, only Amanda, Sandra and Amon. She was with Sandra and Amanda in the studio and she never expected Amon to call her.
“How about me, you could have dialed my number too. Maybe you could have been able to speak to Nelly.” Amanda was just trying to spice up the moment by being sarcastic. They were out there acting all serious and Amanda hated “too serious” stuff.
“Come in with us,” Nelly said to Amon.
As they walked into the house, Amon had a phone call that he had to take outside.
“Hello, Sir. I promise you, the job will be done as smoothly as you want it.”
Amon stopped speaking. He was listening to what the man had to say.
“The plan is underway, it’s not going to fail. We’ll be victorious and she won’t know what hit her.”
“Amon?” Nelly called behind him.
