Chapter 24

Book:Chasing His Ex-wife Published:2024-6-4

Daisy was surprised by the abrupt outburst from Ivan. His face brightened up a bit, and hope littered all over his smile. Daisy just witnessed him in a very distraught mood, up to the last minute ago. Now, he was suddenly looking cheered up and confident, almost like he had found Nelly or he knew where to find her.
It was a good thing to see Ivan smiling like that, but Daisy was still worried.
What if Ivan was up to no good again? Daisy too must have wondered given the way he sounded so sure. Ivan, always, was sure that resulting in extreme measures was going to work.
“I hope you are not thinking of anything extreme,” Daisy said to him just to be sure.
“Thinking of anything extreme?” Daisy recounted the words she spoke in her mind. “Should I have asked if he has already thought of something extreme?”
Ivan believed that in extreme cases, extreme measures were meant to be taken. Not just him, but his grandfather, Easton Landers also believed such. Then there was Katty who worshiped such a belief.
“No, Daisy. I’m not thinking of anything extreme. No, I have not thought of anything cruel.” Ivan finally responded to Daisy after standing mute for a while, smiling as he stared blindly.
“So what’s the catch this time around?” Daisy asked him. She wanted to be certain that he wasn’t planning anything bad. What she saw as bad might be good to him. So she did not take his word for it when he said he wasn’t thinking to the extreme.
“Come on, Daisy. Am I that bad?” Ivan said while he hurriedly cleared his desk. He didn’t want to waste even an extra second in his office. It seemed like what he had in mind was very important, Daisy could see that already.
Ivan continued –
“I’ve always listened to your advice or counsel…whatever you choose to call it. Isn’t it?”
Daisy nodded in affirmation to his question.
“You asked me not to result in any violence, and I think I’m going to heed your counsel for the meantime while I hope things won’t result in me having to use force on that son of a nobody.”
Daisy smiled. At least now she knew that Ivan was not going to do anything stupid. She always feared when he said he had an idea to approach a problem. His ways were always brutal and rigid. He never backed down, and that was what Easton called the definition of a true Landers.
“Shit! I’m not going to do this…Sandra!”
Ivan called on his secretary to help him clear his desk. He pecked Daisy, and assured her one more last time that he was not going to do anything stupid.
Daisy insisted on going with him. After much refusal from Ivan and persuasion from Daisy, Ivan finally gave in to her request.
Ivan drove home, to Daisy’s surprise. Did his idea involve him going home to sleep? Had he given up on ever finding Nelly?
Daisy had to be patient enough before she asked what they were doing in his mansion, the one he lived in with Nelly when she was still his wife. Her patience eventually paid off, Ivan told her without her asking.
“Nelly used this particular diary to write everything concerning herself. She used to write where she’ll go, what she will do for the day, she wrote so many things. She wrote about me too, I used to take a peep into the book when she was still…um…around.”
That was great! If Nelly wrote where she was going to in that diary, then Ivan had the opportunity of finding her. His father had a lot of networking within the country, outside it and even beyond the continent. It would now be so easy to locate Nelly if Ivan could just know where she was. a country, a city, anyone. He would easily find her if he just knew.
Daisy was happy to help Ivan look around the house for this so – called diary.
“Is it this one you’re looking for?” Daisy said after about half an hour of thorough searching.
“Yes, it’s it!” Ivan hastily reached for it. Behold! It was blank. All the pages Nelly had written on had been torn out to Ivan’s dismay and Daisy could feel the frustration Ivan was going through.
“Shit! How am I going to ever find her?” Ivan screamed in frustration. Daisy hugged him and helped him stay calm. She hated seeing him in such a mood. Daisy would sacrifice anything for her cousin just so he could be happy. She was his best bud since they were just children.
“You’ll be alright, Ivan. You just have to chill. Cool down and don’t be in a haste, we’ll find Nelly.”
If there was one thing everyone loved about Daisy, it was that she had the perfect words for every situation. She didn’t know how to abandon someone in need. No matter how faulty someone was, she would always try to correct before bringing in the critics which was constructive by the.
Meanwhile, Ash finally got to find Vivian at home. She was busy vibing and dancing to the hottest music in the city like nothing had happened. It was so unlike her, she would never want to stay away from Ash for long or keep a distance. But this time, she was more than ready to do it, in fact, she did it.
“Vivian! Didn’t you see my calls?” Ash asked.
“Your calls? I didn’t.”
Ash looked and saw her phone was connected to the bluetooth. He knew she was lying.
“Your phone is connected to the bluetooth and you’re saying you didn’t hear your phone ring?”
“What’s the big deal, Huh?
Ash could not believe that Vivian asked him such a question.
“We are dating Vivian! That’s the big deal!”
“Really? So I just left and you’re fuming whereas you’ve been cheating on me!”
Cheating on her? Ash wasn’t that kind of man but Vivian had evidence. She rushed inside to get it.
