Chapter 254 Fake Invitation

Book:The Revenge of My Alluring Wife Published:2024-6-4

Evelyn, with a wary look, pulled the blanket tightly around herself, curling up in the bed corner.
Henry, still sitting on the small sofa beside the bed, slowly got up and approached.
“Come here,” he held the syringe by the bedside.
Evelyn swallowed hard. “It’s… it’s scary.”
“I’m not sick. Do you want to lose such a stunning wife?”
Henry was immediately amused by her serious expression.
“You’re injured. Come over, let me clean the wound.”
“Nonsense.” She hadn’t felt any pain; how could she be injured? She thought he was trying to trick her.
Evelyn insisted on not coming over, and Henry stood still, staring at her.
After a while, Henry’s face turned dark, and he said seriously, “Evelyn.”
“Yes?”
“Come here.”
Seeing the dangerous signal in Henry’s eyes, Evelyn pouted and reluctantly agreed. It was just an injection, what’s the big deal? It’s better to endure a bit of pain than be scared to death.
She shifted her hips and moved to the edge of the bed, grumbling, “Fine, go ahead.”
Henry, somewhat helplessly, pulled her left hand, turned it in a certain direction, and flushed a small wound with saline.
The sound of water dripping echoed on the floor, reflecting Evelyn’s current mood, it was a mess.
She must have overslept, mistaking good intentions for malice.
Evelyn lifted her head, ready to explain, but found Henry adopting a strange posture to encircle her in his arms.
Evelyn: “What are you doing?”
“Revenge,” Henry raised an eyebrow, “Wasn’t that your idea?”
Evelyn: “…” She dug her own pit and jumped in again.
“I didn’t mean it like that.”
He had an odd smile as his lips approached her ear. “What did you mean? I don’t care. Now it’s my turn to give you an injection.”
“I…” Evelyn’s back was pressed firmly against the bed…

The next day.
When Evelyn woke up, it was almost lunchtime.
Unfair. The injection she gave him took only a few seconds, why did he spend the whole night seeking revenge?
She picked up her phone, checked today’s schedule, and seeing nothing urgent, she lingered in bed for another three minutes before getting up.
Descending the stairs, Henry was sitting on the sofa, sipping coffee and reading the financial newspaper.
Evelyn was a bit surprised, “Why aren’t you at work?”
“I’m waiting for you,” Henry gestured for her to come over.
The servant immediately brought in several rows of clothing racks, filled with the latest seasonal fashion items.
“Choose some, I’ll take you to the neighboring city for a few days. for fun.”
Evelyn was stunned.
Henry added, “Using the bonus.”
Evelyn: “!” Did she hear it correctly? Bonus? Henry has a bonus?
Seeing her confusion, Henry explained in a low voice, “From Grandpa.”
Now Evelyn understood.
Thinking about going out with the money from that old man who despised her, Evelyn inexplicably felt a bit delighted.
“Wait for me.”
Evelyn said and ran into the kitchen under Henry’s puzzled gaze. Soon, she came out with bread and milk.
After devouring the food, she turned her attention to the clothes, carefully selecting a few.
Evelyn was quite enthusiastic in her selection, and in no time, she had filled an entire large suitcase. Feeling a bit distressed, she wondered, “Is it too much?” After all, they were going out for fun, and having too many things could be cumbersome.
David was about to remind her that it was indeed a lot. Henry glanced at her and earnestly say, “Not much. Have someone bring another suitcase.”
David: “…”
The servant quickly brought another, even larger suitcase. However, Evelyn didn’t continue packing clothes. She had already called in her leave at the research institute, and it was time to set off.
The neighboring city wasn’t as bustling as Memphis, but it was a tourist destination, making every inch of land valuable. As it was the off-season, the number of people was relatively low.
After arriving at the hotel, they had a simple dinner. Evelyn then pulled out a set of couple outfits, forcing Henry to wear them. Even in casual clothes, Henry still looked extraordinary.
“Alright, to experience a different kind of fun, we should go out on a date like ordinary people. Your usual appearance in a suit is too serious.” Evelyn explained.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Henry couldn’t help but smile in resignation, “Where do you want to go?”
Checking the guidebook, Evelyn said, “There’s a fireworks show tonight. Let’s start with that, then head to the food street, and…”
Because there were just too many plans, Henry could only listen while pulling her out of the hotel.
The two walked intimately side by side, and from a distance, they truly looked like an ordinary couple.
Angela watched Evelyn’s back from afar, her lips curling into a sly smile.
“Fate has brought us together again, Evelyn.”
After the Powers family announced their separation from the Wilson family, their development in Memphis was restricted, despite the help from that person. Therefore, they had to expand their influence to nearby cities first, grow quietly, and then gather strength. They aimed to silently strengthen themselves and eventually annihilate the Wilson family in one fell swoop.
Angela was determined that when that time came, the penniless Henry wouldn’t be able to treat her as he had before.
And that woman, she must die by Angela’s hands.
“Who did that woman come with?” Angela asked in a low voice.
The assistant reported the findings, “The hotel check-in records show that Evelyn checked in with Henry. However, the man who came down with her just now doesn’t seem to be Henry…”
He didn’t dare to voice his own speculations and carefully watched Angela. Angela sneered, “A fickle woman. Daring to do such things right under Henry’s nose.”
Originally, she planned to deal with that woman after The Powers family rose to power. But now, it seemed like a good opportunity.
“Get the invitation for the opening ceremony tomorrow and find a way to deliver it to them.”
Seeing the assistant nod, Angela smirked.
Tomorrow seemed even better than she had imagined.
Evelyn and Henry played throughout the night and returned utterly exhausted. The waiter timely brought some late-night snacks, and Evelyn accepted them. After finishing, she noticed an invitation card tucked under the plate.
“This annoying woman hasn’t appeared for a long time.”
Evelyn brushed her fingers over the words “FT Park” on the invitation card, mockingly smiling.
Angela’s tricks were still so low-level.
In the previous life, FT Park was established by The Powers family after they left The Wilson family. Initially, it was quite successful, but later an explosion occurred, forcing it to shut down directly.
Sending this thing, Angela probably discovered her, right?
Evelyn put away the invitation card, and the next day, she went straight to the banquet venue.
At this moment, Angela, in a white dress, saw Evelyn and immediately revealed a mocking expression.
“Didn’t expect you to actually dare to come.” Angela sneered, glancing occasionally behind Evelyn.
“Don’t bother looking, my husband won’t be coming.” Evelyn deliberately emphasized the word ‘husband,’ watching Angela’s face turn pale, feeling somewhat relieved.
In fact, Henry had gone to the hotel upstairs to discuss business. However, she didn’t let him come down, which was equivalent to him not coming.
Angela glared at her, remaining for quite a while before leaving. Her dress was very long and trailed on the steps. Evelyn watched, tempted to go up and… step on it. However, for the sake of the upcoming spectacle, she restrained herself for now.
Taking off her cloak, Evelyn entered the venue wearing a silver long dress, a gown tailor-made by a designer for her.
Today’s hairstyle was chosen by Henry, complementing this magnificent gown. Noble, and elegant elements collided perfectly, instantly capturing everyone’s attention.
The gazes that were originally on Angela shifted to Evelyn. The sudden sense of being neglected made Angela extremely angry.
She squinted her eyes, strolling up to the stage, and took the microphone from the host’s hand.
If Evelyn liked attention so much, Angela would give her all the spotlight.
“Sorry to disturb everyone for a moment. We sincerely apologize because of our negligence; we mistakenly allowed a woman with a fake invitation to enter. Before we identify her, please everyone take care of your personal belongings.”
After saying this, Angela glanced at Evelyn.
Evelyn paused for a moment, then met her gaze without showing any weakness, coldly smirking.
Angela described the situation while keeping her eyes on Evelyn, almost sticking the words ‘holding a fake invitation’ on her forehead.
The people at the banquet were sharp, although their gaze still lingered on Evelyn, the earlier enthusiasm had faded away. Some expressions now showed disdain, disgust, schadenfreude, and ill intentions.
The security acted swiftly, approaching Evelyn with the clear intention of escorting her out.
