Unwilling to let go, Marcus hesitated, looking at Evelyn.
“If there’s a problem with the attendant, Marcus can dispose of him at will,” Evelyn suggested.
“Since there are surveillance cameras everywhere, why don’t you go check that spot yourself and see how the Black Rose ended up in my hands?” she added.
Marcus could access the surveillance footage on his phone at any time. When he saw how William bribed another maid to put the Black Rose into Evelyn’s hands, he was furious.
Evelyn might forego the fifty billion, but what about the remaining eight billion-plus? It would still have to be deducted from the public account.
If it weren’t for this damn cripple, how could he end up eight billion in the red overnight?
Marcus’s face turned icy cold. He turned to Evelyn and explained, “Since he needs to be disposed of, let’s not dirty your hands, young lady.”
Although Evelyn wanted to take matters into her own hands, she had more important things to attend to, especially since they had lingered on the second floor for quite some time.
“In that case, I’ll leave it to you. So, you better ‘take care’ of him properly.” Evelyn said calmly.
With an indifferent expression, Evelyn walked slowly towards William, memories from her past flooding her mind in an instant.
In her previous life, William’s deception, the harm to her and Henry, and even her death… all flashed before her eyes. She hasn’t even had the chance to retaliate against him fiercely yet.
Her eyes was full of deep hatred, she took a while to settle back to calmness. But this eerie calmness, tinged with deathly silence, only made her appear more terrifying to onlookers.
William stared at her, trembling all over. “You… ah!”
Suddenly, Evelyn viciously stomped on his lame leg, and a crisp sound of breaking bones echoed. Sharp pains shot through his already weak legs, and William collapsed uncontrollably to the ground, covered in cold sweat.
“Even with a lame leg, you’re not worthy to stand before me,” Evelyn leaned in, her voice chilling as if it were from a ghost, “William, you should be grateful it took me this long to find you… I don’t have time to deal with you today, but Marcus’ll take ‘good’ care of you for me. Haha, enjoy it…”
William was so scared that he even felt the urge to pee. He regretted, regretted ever crossing paths with this woman.
Evelyn was no longer the naive and easily deceived young woman. She was a ghost, a demon.
William screamed incoherently, “Ah, ghost… ghost… help!”
“In your next life, remember to be a true beast. Otherwise, in every lifetime, you’ll die by my hands,” Evelyn declared coldly.
With that said, Evelyn got up and kicked William aside as if he were trash, then proceeded towards the entrance to the third floor.
The entire process unfolded in complete silence, leaving everyone in the room in disbelief. They couldn’t fathom how such a delicate-looking young woman could exude such a terrifyingly powerful aura.
Even Noah’s two guards were shaken, no longer daring to harbor any trace of disdain towards Evelyn.
Hector silently followed behind Evelyn, his heart pounding uncontrollably, “Madam, I’ve inquired already. He’s the lowest-ranking attendant here. He’ll be confined to the dark room afterward. It’s said that there are thousands of torturous punishments inside, and even if one survives, they’re bound to go insane.”
“Very well,” Evelyn nodded.

They found the seller of rare materials smoothly on the third floor. When Evelyn took out the ring, the man was suddenly shocked, and his gaze towards Evelyn was extremely stunned. Subconsciously, Evelyn touched her face. Did she have a problem? Or was there something dirty on her face?
The seller carefully wiped the ring, then said cautiously, “Miss, please wait for a moment. I need to report to Jonathan about the purchase of the materials for this ring.”
Hector previously mentioned that Jonathan is in charge of this third floor and holds the greatest authority in the entire underground trading market. Without any hesitation, Evelyn nodded, “Okay. Please do it as soon as possible.”
“Alright.”
The attendant hurried away, and when he turned the corner, he even stumbled.
Jonathan’s office was at the innermost part of the corridor, and the attendant forcefully pushed open the door.
“What’s the matter? Why so flustered?” Jonathan frowned unhappily.
“Jonathan, there’s something I dare not confirm. Can you take a look?” The attendant took out the ring, “The person who brought it is a young girl, very similar to the late master.”
Jonathan snatched the ring, stood up abruptly. His expression was more anxious than the attendant’s, “Where is she? Take me to see her quickly.”
“She’s outside, but the girl is accompanied by others. It’s better if fewer people know about this.” The attendant thought for a moment, “If you confirm it’s this ring, I’ll bring her in.”
