Upon hearing that the mastermind who caused the company’s crisis was right in front of them, the people whose interests were affected immediately eyed her with hostility.
Lydia instinctively stood in front of Evelyn. “The decision to send out the press release was mine. What does it have to do with Evelyn? She’s also a victim falsely accused by someone.”
“Falsely accused? The evidence is already conclusive,” Terrence sneered. “Miss Hall, don’t let yourself be fooled and still applaud for the other side.”
“Could this person be eager to escape, deliberately shifting the blame to The Hall Group to divert attention?” another person speculated.
“At such a young age, full of schemes, definitely not a good person.”
The discussions became increasingly harsh, and Lydia’s face darkened. But in such a situation, all she could do was turn to comfort Evelyn.
“Evelyn, don’t mind them. No need to pay them any more attention.”
“In this crisis, can any PR team guarantee to get The Hall Group out of trouble?” Evelyn asked the elderly shareholders.
These people had already inquired with their acquaintances. Apart from the internal team of the group, very few PR teams were willing to get involved in this situation.
Though Wesley himself might be trash, his fan base had the power to shake half of the entertainment industry. Who would willingly take on such trouble ?
The several old men looked at each other in silence.
Terrence challenged, “With so many teams unable to make a move, do you, a little girl, think you can solve it?”
Evelyn’s voice remained as calm as before, “I can.” Only she could resolve this crisis.
Terrence scoffed, “Haha, bold words. But as convincing as you sound, not a single person here will believe you.”
As a few shareholders who were nodding in agreement, Lydia slowly stood up from the crowd.
“I believe. I trust Evelyn,” Her expression relaxed, “I declare that Evelyn will have full authority over The Hall Group’s public relations this time.”
Worried that Terrence might say something more, Lydia added, “Terrence, this is the chairman’s decision. My dad said, for this month, no matter what I do, all of you must unquestionably obey.”
“You!” Terrence was left speechless, shaking his head angrily, “If this matter goes south, I’ll see how you end up.”
Shareholders who were on good terms with him also approached, wearing stern expressions. “If you continue causing losses to the board, I will personally discuss it with the chairman.”
Some people in the back still seemed unwilling, but seeing Terrence compromise, they no longer struggled.
In the vast conference room, only Evelyn and Lydia remained.
“The world is finally quiet,” Lydia said, slumping back in her chair.
“You have no idea how annoying those old men are,” Lydia turned her head and noticed Evelyn staring at her, feeling a bit uneasy.
“Is there something on my face?”
Evelyn frowned and asked, “Aren’t you afraid that I might damage The Hall Group’s reputation, causing it to plummet in the industry?”
Without hesitation, Lydia shook her head, “You dared to come, which means you already have a plan. I trust you completely.”
The sudden trust left Evelyn stunned.
…
For the next three days, there was no movement from Evelyn’s side.
The news on the hot search continued to ferment, becoming widely known across the internet. The stock price of The Hall Group had plummeted several times, causing Mr. Hall to frown as he watched his daughter lounging on the couch, nibbling on snacks, and watching TV dramas.
Mrs. Hall said, “Today, Wesley and Quinn are holding a press conference. If they clarify the previous incidents, our group will have no chance of a comeback.”
“We can’t wait any longer,” Mr. Hall stood up. “I will contact a new PR team. Although it’s less than two hours until the conference, at least we can minimize the losses for the group.”
Just as he picked up his phone, Lydia, who had been watching TV, suddenly rushed over and snatched the phone away before he could make the call.
“Dad, trust me, she can handle this.”
Mr. Hall suddenly raised his voice, “Lydia, the fate of the group is not a joke. Give me back the phone.”
Lydia didn’t move.
The content on the TV suddenly switched to the live broadcast of Wesley’s press conference. Surprisingly, the press conference had started ahead of schedule.
“Is this your so-called good friend? Our family, and even the entire group, is busy dealing with this matter. What is she doing? The press conference has already started, but she did nothing, nothing…”
Mrs. Hall sighed, “Lydia, give the phone back to your father. This is your negligence. You’ll withdraw from the board from tomorrow,. Let’s calm down first.”
Lydia hesitated for a moment, but quickly reaffirmed her stance, shaking her head.
