Roxanne woke up entirely refreshed.
She yawned loudly, widely opening her mouth as she stretched on her bed.
“Haaaa! It feels so good!” She smiled, cracking the bones in her body as she moaned.
She had slept early, woken up late, the perfect idea when deciding to enjoy her last stay in Oregon, especially in a hotel as great as this one.
She rubbed her eyes and got out of bed, checking the time on the clock.
“W-whaoh!”
Roxanne couldn’t believe she had slept until 11:00 AM in the morning. Considering she slept quite early, she didn’t expect herself to let go for so long.
Reaching for her phone, she picked it from the table beside her bed and checked it to see any message. It was a new phone she just got, meaning it was only reachable by the one person she needed to be in contact with.
“Rei Daniels… 18 missed calls. My God.” Roxanne mumbled.
Just like clockwork, her phone began ringing again, vibrating in her arms. She didn’t hesitate to pick this time, feeling a little bad that she had been called for 18 times and didn’t even notice.
‘Some werewolf I am…’ She laughed within herself.
“Roxanne, where have you been? I’ve been trying to call you, but-”
“Ah, sorry about that. I just woke up. I hope it’s nothing major. Don’t tell me… did I oversleep? Have we missed out flight?” Roxanne asked, now feeling a little worried.
“Oh no, not at all. I just wanted to check up on you… to see how you were doing.”
Roxanne paused and looked at her phone in surprise. He called 18 times just to check up on her? This guy…
“I know what you’re thinking. Don’t overthink things. It’s not that weird. We’ll be partners from now on, it’s not strange that I want to check up on you.” Daniel interrupted her thoughts.
‘Well, when he puts it that way, I suppose it sounds a little normal…’ Roxanne thought to herself.
“Well, it’s a good thing you slept in today. We won’t have the luxury soon. Our flight is not until 5:00pm this evening, so you still have time. Do you intend on taking a final look around town before finally leaving?”
Roxanne had thought of that before, but of course she wouldn’t risk Asher finding her, so that was a big no.
“There’s no need for that.” She answered.
“Ah, I see. Well, in any case I’ve spoken to your former boss at the underground wrestling center.” Daniel added.
“O-oh… yeah. Him. What did he say?” Roxanne hesitantly responded.
She had entirely forgotten about him. Now that she carefully considered it, she did sign a contract with him. She could get into trouble for not fulfilling her end of the deal one way or the other.
“Well, he did throw me empty threats, bringing up your contract with him and all sorts of baloney.” Daniel began.
‘I knew it!’ Roxanne thought to herself.
“But, I told you already, didn’t I? He has no grounds. In the end, I managed to draw a consensus with him. Even if he decided to take action for a breach, there’s no validity for an illegal, unrecognized place in the eye of the law anyway.” Daniel smiled from his end of the call.
Roxanne remembered Daniel mentioned something like that.
“Of course, if he decides to be stubborn, not only will he receive nothing in return for his troubles, but he’ll also be faxed with countless charges of tax evasion, unlawful gambling, among others.”
‘Wow. Daniel really knows his stuff…’ Roxanne’s thoughts trailed.
Of course, the chances of his lawyers telling him those stuff also existed. After all, there was no way a professional wrestler would bother themselves about such details in law.
“In any case, we’re in the clear on our end. Whenever your ready, you’ll be taken to the airport, and we’ll meet up there.”
Roxanne smiled. Daniel had done so much for her, yet it appeared she didn’t appreciate him enough.
‘Well, he’s doing this for his career too… still. I better put in my best and treat him once this is all over as thanks.’
They would make good friends.
“Thanks Daniel. Well then, I’ll call you later.” She smiled.
“Alright. I’ll be expecting it.”
Roxanne cut the call after this, placing her phone down as she stretched once again, making a yawn.
“Well then… let’s get freshened up!”
Roxanne moved to the bathroom in order to fully enjoy her anticipated bath in the very exquisite contraption.
“Huu… what now? Should I really not go outside?” Roxanne mumbled, lying on her bed.
She was in her underwear, lazily staying in the position for the past thirty minutes. Even though she had intentionally delayed herself by fully enjoying everything the bathroom had to offer, the time was still barely 1:00pm.
With nothing else to do, Roxanne simply contemplated on her bed.
“Why couldn’t he book a morning flight… ”
>sighBZZZRNNNGGG< Her phone vibrated in her palm as she held her breath. Roxanne wondered the reaction of her mom and grandma after they discovered their girl was traveling. She gulped and awaited a response. Five seconds passed. Seven passed. Ten passed. Fifteen passed… still no response. A sudden break in the ringing finally roused Roxanne from her impatient state. ~Sorry, the number you're calling is currently unavailable. Please try again later. Thank you.~ "A-ah, I see. They're in the woods. They're probably on their way to the Rockwood Pack now too… there was no way I could reach them anyway. Roxanne laughed at her silliness. In any case, she couldn't bear staying in her hotel room any longer. Dialing another number, she awaited the person to pick as she watched her phone ringing. Barely two seconds passed when the ringing stopped. "Oh, Roxanne. You called back so soon." Daniel's voice sounded. "Yeah. I think I'll just wait at the airport until the flight." Roxanne said in a sigh. "Ah, I see. I understand then. Your driver will arrive shortly. He'll take you to the airport." Daniel responded calmly. "Oh? I can go myself, you know?" Roxanne said, smiling uncomfortably. "Of course, you can. It's just something I want to do for you. You can refuse if it makes you uncomfortable, though." Of course, Roxanne knew she couldn't refuse since he said it that way. Daniel must have spent some thought and money on the driver picking her. She couldn't just refuse the thoughtfulness. "Ah, it's fine then. I'll wait. By the way, where exactly are you?" A small pause came from Daniel's side, and then his voice appeared come again. "Oh, I'm at the airport already. I'll be waiting for you." Well, that was quite a surprise to her. A small smile formed on her face as she responded. "Okay then, see you soon." She cut the call before she heard Daniel's reply. It was a relief that someone she knew was there waiting for her. At least she have someone to talk to while she waited for the flight. "Alright! Let's get things set up!" Roxanne said, bouncing up as she went to pick the dress she had hung across from her bed. Her bags were already neatly packed to one side, a large box and a small one. Not too much luggage, considering she was a girl. She had already thrown almost all her old clothes away since she had outgrown them. "The driver will be here soon. I should get ready too!" {TIME: 1:09 PM}
