“Did you just-?” Rei asked, confused by Roxanne’s words.
Perhaps he heard wrong.
“It’s just uncomfortable talking here like this. If you’re still interested in whatever you have to say, it’s better we do it where we can both relax” She said in a logical manner.
Even though Roxanne wasn’t tired, it wasn’t like she appreciated standing in the middle of a dead alley by 2:00am, so early in the morning.
“Good idea” Rei sharply responded, not wanting to seem flustered by her suggestion.
He needed to be assertive.
“Good” Roxanne muttered, turning her back to the man as she slowly walked toward her residence.
Rei followed her from behind, placing his hands on his pockets, suddenly feeling the freezing atmosphere.
Throughout their walk, Roxanne refused to talk to him or even look behind to address him. Rei felt weird, as this had never happened before.
As a popular figure in the realm of hardcore sports and martial arts, he was known for his ability to draw attention. Also, he had good looks, a well proportioned figure… And many ladies had testified he was good in bed.
While the latter had nothing to do with the current situation, it was still a matter of pride that Rei held within him. That’s why he couldn’t fathom why Roxanne was giving him the silent treatment.
“I thought she’d be more thrilled and eager to talk to me… Did I do something wrong?” He asked himself.
Unknown to him, the girl in front was also wrestling with her inner thoughts.
“Ah, I can’t even bring up a conversation or look him in the eye!” Roxanne mumbled to herself.
After making such a big mistake back then, even though Rei wasn’t aware, Roxanne didn’t know how to properly interact with the man. She had idolized him at a point in her life, especially when he was still a rising star, before her father’s death.
Afterward, while she didn’t have the luxury of being as giddy as before, Rei Daniel still held a strong place in her heart. Looking back at how she admired Xavier’s fighting style, everything suddenly made sense.
She smiled to herself.
“Looks like Amaya was right in a way…”
As they continued walking in solitude surrounded by darkness and cold, Rei began to feel apprehensive. He thought her house was close by. Just where was she taking him?
“We’re here” Roxanne’s voice suddenly cut into his thoughts.
Snapping back to reality, he looked at Roxanne standing in front of a well built hotel.
The glimmering lights exhibited by the establishment, coupled with the neon glow of the hotel’s name, made Rei’s eyes dull for a second, since he wasn’t used to the brightness.
As soon as he adjusted to the lights, he stared at the lady in front of him, and nearly lost his breath.
He couldn’t see her well due to the darkness, and even when they walked together, she was steps ahead of him, only giving him the chance to smell her shampoo. It was good, by the way.
Now feasting his tired eyes upon the beauty in front of him, the weariness and suspicion he felt vanished. The shimmering hotel lights gently accentuated her beauty. Her blue hair matched the glowing eyes she possessed. Her slender figure, coupled with the smooth skin she had which softly made up her face, made Rei’s heart throb.
“Wow” He whispered, utterly taken away by Roxanne’s elegance.
Meanwhile, the girl before him was more occupied with other things, failing to notice the glimmer in Rei’s eyes.
Since she had realized he was only with her for the wrestling gig, Roxanne decided not to think beyond that. Besides, it wasn’t like she was down for anything to happen in the first place.
“You’re surprised. I guess it’s understandable… You wouldn’t expect a girl like me to be living in a hotel, right?” Roxanne said with a distant smile.
“N-No. It’s actually pretty understandable. I mean, you’re an underground female wrestler. It doesn’t get any weirder than that” Rei quickly answered in his cool, yet playful voice.
This statement made Roxanne burst into little chuckles of amusement.
“True. Well then, let’s go inside. It’s warmer there” She said, leading the way.
The sudden thought of how strange it was to bring a man she met for the first time into her residence, a suite, made her nearly flustered. However, Roxanne quickly pulled her mind from any embarrassing thoughts.
“He’s just here for business, Roxanne.”
As they walked in, Rei hastened his steps and made sure to walk beside Roxanne to get a clearer view of the dazzling girl. Even though Roxanne had concluded that Rei was only interested in her future prospects in the wrestling industry, it seemed the man was slowly developing another.
“She’s beautiful…” Rei mumbled to himself.
His heart raced anytime he glanced at her face which faced forward in a stern manner. Rei knew what he felt quite well, but still lingered in his observation of Roxanne’s figure.
Before long, they walked past the reception desk. Looking at the two staff stationed there, Roxanne saw no traces of Anaya among them.
“She must have changed shifts…” Roxanne sighed to herself.
And she really wanted to tell her about Mr. Handsome beside her.
“I guess we’ll see each other later”
Having minimal conversation with the receptionist, Roxanne made for her room, climbing the stairs as she quickly increased her pace.
She couldn’t wait to get into her comfortable place and dive straight into her bed. Of course, Roxanne knew she could do that since she had a visitor.
“Ahh…” She grumbled internally.
A few moments after the young girl left, alongside a man, to her suite, the two receptionists shot themselves knowing glances as they tried to stifle their mischievous laughs.
“Excuse me, ladies.” A charming voice suddenly hit the two women like a gust of wind.
They instantly stopped looking at each other and turned in the direction of the man who spoke.
His crimson eyes pierced their hearts, and immediately they were smitten.
“So, they’ve already fallen under [Charm], good.” The man thought to himself.
“How can we help you, sir?” The two women said simultaneously.
A slight smile appeared on his face as he took in a short breath and sighed.
“I need a warm room, good food… And information. Think you can do that for me?” He asked.
The two love-struck women nodded their heads vehemently with wide grins plastered on their faces.
“Thank you.” He smiled.
Taking a look around, while the women sorted out the details of his request, Asher once again felt his heart beat with unrest. His insides were swirling about. There was definitely more to this hotel, but he couldn’t figure it out.
“In the end, I couldn’t find anything… Maybe I’ll gave better luck tomorrow”
