Chapter 45: I Beg You

Book:Tell me you love me Published:2024-5-28

Olivia started to get furious, and just as she was about to teach her daughter a lesson, the door opened. Someone who couldn’t be there in the first place was standing right in front of her.
Lucas was wearing black overalls, and his hair was in a messy sprawl. He was staring at her.
He was taller than her, so he needed to look downwards at her. His eyes were strangely focused, and the flower in Olivia’s hand dropped and smashed on the floor. A shattering sound could be heard.
Lucas.
She was at a total loss as to what she should do. Lucas immediately pulled her aside and asked, “Are you fine?”
He proceeded to check to make sure she wasn’t injured, momentarily putting aside the growing awkwardness just now.
Olivia came back to herself and asked after pushing his arm away, “Why… why are you here?”
She realized that her voice was cracking.
Her mind was a total chaos, and she couldn’t process any coherent thoughts now.
This person was Lucas, her beloved and precious man, the love of her life.
Lucas took back his hand and rubbed in on his back. He said with a gentle tone, “I am here to see you.”
He was always very arrogant, and he never took into account people’s feelings back then. However, as he was standing in front of Olivia, he didn’t raise his voice nor did he launch into any agitated movements.
He was afraid that she would be shocked by him, afraid that she would forever disappear from his life. He was afraid that she couldn’t accept the shock of seeing him…
As long as she would do well, he would do anything.
Only someone who had lost something or someone profound knew of the bone-chilling fear that kind of loss would elicit.
He was hungrily taking all of Olivia in, and his passionate gaze was giving Olivia the creeps.
They had met each other again after so long, and she found it hard to believe that they were conversing normally now. This was really something out of a dream, but at the moment, she was too nervous. Her first reaction was to escape this place.
“I need to go back now. Janet, come with me!”
She glared vehemently at the little girl.
It seemed that Janet had long known who her father was, and she had known for a while that Lucas was staying here. Then, why didn’t she tell Olivia any of this? And Janet was secretly meeting with him here!
Olivia felt that she had been betrayed!
Of course, this was a fleeting feeling. After all, Janet was still her own flesh and blood, and she couldn’t continue being angry with her for long. Despite that, they still had to talk this out.
She wanted to bring Janet away, but Lucas grabbed her wrist and said with a remorseful and sincere face, “Forgive me, Olivia. Forgive me for everything that I have done to you.”
He knew very well that if he missed this golden chance, Olivia would be build up a wall in her heart to guard against him.
Therefore, this time, he needed to cherish this chance. He couldn’t let her go again.
“Olivia, I know, I have done way too many mistakes in the past, but I know that I am in the wrong. Give me one more chance, alright? Let us start from the beginning. I will take good care of you, I will become a good husband to you… I beg you, don’t leave me again.”
He continued to babble for some time, and although his speech was a mess, Olivia felt very anguished in her heart while she listened to him.
Lucas was an exemplary person. He had his ways with words in the past, not the other way round, unlike him now. However, was he really regretting the past?
Olivia recalled that fateful night she left him, and at that time he had ordered Isabella to do that to her. That thought gave her a world of pain!
She used to be his wife, but all he wanted to do was to give her away to someone else!
She turned her face away slightly, not meeting Lucas’ eyes. She said with a chilly tone, “Mr. Foster, we have divorced. I don’t know how you are able to find me here, but, please don’t ever pester me and my daughter anymore!”
She put emphasis on the word “my” to let Lucas know that Janet belong to her alone. She wasn’t going to let him steal her now.
However, all of Lucas’ attention was on her, and her alone.
He was begging, “Olivia, I beg you. Don’t go.”
