The pain won’t go

Beatrice woke up early to prepare their breakfast before Quiver left. She always did this for him every morning. This is her routine every morning for almost a year.
“Good morning.” Quiver greeted her with a smile on his lips, so Beatrice turned to look at him, smiled, and walked closer to him.
“Good morning.” She greeted back and kissed his lips.
“How’s your sleep?” Beatrice asked, so Quiver grabbed her waist and looked at her eyes.
“It was good because you’re sleeping beside me.” He said and kissed her lips again. Beatrice laughed because of what he said.
“Let’s eat first before you leave,” Beatrice said, so Quiver nodded, and they both walked towards their dining table, where their food was already served.
“Wow, you made this for me?” Quiver asked, so Beatrice laughed and rolled her eyes.
“Of course.” She said, so Quiver looked at her with his ‘aww’ look, which made Beatrice laugh.
“Don’t look at me like that.” She said Quiver laughed and started putting their food on their plates.
“Why? I do appreciate it.” Quiver said, so Beatrice smiled and watched him put food on their plates.
“I know, but this is just a normal thing that every wife does for their husband,” Beatrice said, so Quiver looked at her and laughed.
“Even this?” Quiver asked and started to tickle Beatrice.
They do this every morning; they’re doing something to make each other laugh, and Beatrice loves having Quiver beside her and doing this stuff with her the most.
She can’t believe that this is what it feels like. She never imagined that she would be happy like this with Quiver.
After an hour, Quiver started preparing for his work when his phone rang, so he got it and answered it.
“Hello?”
“Hello, Quiver, this is Rayver. I wanted to let you know that I’m on my way to your house now.”
“Oh, okay, have you already eaten breakfast?” Quiver asked and looked at Beate, who was looking at him.
“Yes. But a coffee will be better to serve when I’m there already.” Quiver laughed because of what he said.
“Okay, just let me know once you’re in front of our house.” He said before he hung the call.
“What is that?” Beatrice asked as she heard that. Her forehead is frowned upon, knowing someone will be in their house in a few minutes.
“Rayver is coming here,” Quiver said, so her forehead frowned even more because of what he said.
“Why?” She asked, suddenly feeling nervous, knowing that someone connected with Nate would come in their place. She couldn’t help but think that something would happen.
“I told you we would talk about the business, right?” Quiver asked, so Beatrice rolled her eyes instantly.
“I know, but why here? What if he will tell anyone where we are?” She asked and started thinking about what would happen if Rayver told anyone, specifically Nate, about where they were.
“Baby, look at me.” He said and held Beatrice’s hands. “I swear we can trust him, okay?” He said and smiled at Beatrice, who was just looking at him.
“How did you say so?” She asked, so Quiver smiled even more.
“Because he helped me once.” He answered, so Beatrice looked him in the eye and took a deep breath.
“Okay.” She said, but her fear didn’t stop, knowing that Nate’s Beta would be in their house at any minute.
After a few minutes, Rayver arrived at their house, and Quiver welcomed him. Beatrice was just watching them from behind and scanning Rayver’s action. She knows him, especially since he’s been working with Nate.
“Beatrice, it’s nice to see you again.” Rayver greeted her. She just smiled bitterly.
“For me, it’s not.” She said, so a smile formed on Rayver’s lip, knowing that Beatrice was telling the truth.
Beatrice took a deep breath and turned back after seeing that Quiver and Rayver were discussing business. She just wanted to make sure that Rayver is here because of business, none other than that.
“How are you?” Rayver asked Quiver, who was in front of him and smiling.
“I’m fine, we’re doing fine,” Quiver answered, so Rayver smiled, knowing that the two of them were okay.
“She changed a lot,” Rayver said, referring to Beatrice, so Quiver laughed and watched Rayver sip his coffee.
“Yeah, the pain changes her very well,” Quiver said, so Rayver looked at him and put his mug on the mini table.
“I’m glad you, too, are having fun together,” Rayver said, so Quiver looked into his eyes.
“Yeah, I’m also glad knowing she finally loves me, but you know… the pain won’t go away,” Quiver said, so Rayver nodded as he understood what he was saying.
“What about your doctor’s prescription to you?” Rayver asked, so Quiver suddenly stopped as he remembered what his doctor had said to him the last time he went for a checkup.
“The doctor told me that everything will be fine,” Quiver answered so Rayver smelled something to his words, and he believed that Quiver was not telling the truth.
A very long silence covered the two of them before Quiver spoke again.
“The doctor told me that my life won’t last long as the cancer cells slowly spread in my body,” Quiver said, so Rayver looked at him, knowing that Quiver was telling the truth.
He took a deep breath and smiled at Rayver.
“Did she know about this?” Rayver asked. Quiver shook his head and didn’t tell Beatrice this because he didn’t want to see her sad again after a year of seeing her happy with him.
“I don’t want to ruin her happiness now,” Quiver said. “I don’t want to give her problems at this point.” He added. Rayver looked down, knowing Quiver was doing this to protect Beatrice from pain.
Quiver has been diagnosed with stage 3 blood cancer, and Rayver knows about this because Quiver tells him to help him go to the hospital where Beatrice was admitted one year ago. Because of this, Quiver and Rayver became close as Rayver’s heart couldn’t handle saying no to Quiver, knowing that he had died.
When Quiver and Beatrice are together, he hides his pain for her because he doesn’t want to see her worrying about him.
What Quiver thinks every time is Beatrice’s happiness except for his health.
“I wish I could tell her this before anything happened to me,” Quiver said solemnly, which made Rayver not talk and give him bumps, knowing that Quiver was just thinking about Beatrice all the time except his thinking about his health.
